Dr. Siegal is the only dentist I would trust with my cosmetic dentistry needs. I recently had to have my two front teeth done and there is nobody else I even considered. Dr. Siegal is a master at color and shape and I could not be happier with my result. My appointments started on time and were efficient without feeling rushed. Staff are friendly and warm, which is typically usual for doctors’ offices in my experience. I highly recommend Dr. Siegal & team.

I received early dental care (if you can call it that) at NYC’s infamous Guggenheim Dental Clinic (aka The Big House of Horrors) where dental procedures were done without anesthesia. My dental care was touch and go until I found Dr. Siegal. He is the most skilled dentist – in terms of both chairside manner and dental skill. My mouth has gone from being a painful humiliating disaster to a healthy smile. And, the man is a master at hiring amazing staff – every single person who works in that office is pleasant, professional, personable and great at her job. It is hard to believe, but a visit to the dentist really can be a pleasure!

If you don’t have any friends to recommend a dentist or you’re new to NYC, then look no further. Dr Siegal is the best you’ll find. He’s knowledgable, thorough and if you don’t understand anything he’ll explain it until you do. His assistant, Deborah, has been with him for a long time– that alone should tell you something about his character. She always greeted me with her beautiful smile. They work so well together they practically read each other’s minds! Oh, and his hygienist, Karen, is just as nice and thorough as Dr Siegal. You’ll leave her chair with a million dollar smile :)

I visited Dr. Siegal for the first time this week, for a broken front tooth.
After I opened wide and said «ahhhhhh», Dr. Siegal inspected the damage, said he could completely restore the tooth, and he proceeded to do do just that. There was very little pain, he patiently explained what he was doing at every step, and after about a half hour the tooth looked and fit better than before I’d chipped it.
After that initial experience, I wouldn’t hesitate about going back myself, or referring friends looking for a good dentist.

I have been going to Dr. Siegal since the mid-90’s when I returned to NYC. I no longer experience that ‘ugh, I have to go to the dentist’ feeling I’d had for so many years previously. Everyone in the office is welcoming. His hygienists are gentle but thorough and my teeth and gums look great. I haven’t needed anything other than routine checkups in almost 20 years which I can attribute to the fine care I receive every 6 months. I cannot recommend Dr. Siegal highly enough. Your teeth will thank you.

I’ve been going to Dr Siegal for over a decade now. I can’t speak highly enough about him or his staff. The Doctor himself is caring, friendly, professional and takes his time with patients. More importantly he’s a perfectionist. I’ve had both crowns and fillings done and in all cases he’s taken care to make sure everything fits and matches perfectly. On occasion, when things don’t feel quite right (which happens with new dental work @David B.), he’s happy to fit me in to do a quick adjustment and/​or file. In short, it’s clear that he wants everything to be perfect and he’ll deliver on it.
Furthermore his staff is a joy; friendly and inviting (love Debra). Before going to Dr. Siegal I thought that having teeth cleaned was one of those things that just always hurt. They scrape, poke and make your gums bleed. I’d have it done every 6 months but it was something I just assumed it was an uncomfortable thing. Since going to Dr. Siegal’s hygienists I now realize that teeth can be cleaned well with very little discomfort. They use mostly a fancy water pick and then just a little scraping. I know it’s done well becuase Dr. Siegal then inspects their work and has on occasion made them clean up better.
In short, I unequivocally recommend him.

After several different dentists in NYC, I was referred to Dr. Siegal’s office by a colleague and I’ve been a happy patient of his for the last 16 years. Professional, caring, excellent care… and fun. I’m moving to Texas but I wanted to spread the good word about Dr. Siegal, his Sergeant at Arms, Debra and the entire staff. You won’t find a better run medical office in the city.

The lower star rating is only due to recurrent issues we’ve had with dental care at this practice. All the things others rave about (staff, atmosphere, the likeable Dr. Siegal) are true. I dislike long-​winded Unilocal reviews as much as anyone, but in fairness to the Doctor, I should describe things in detail:
My wife and I have been to this office, voluntarily, for a total of 3 cleanings and one emergency visit over a 12 month period. In total we’ve been to the office 7 times though, and our take away is that when work needs to be done (fillings, crowns, etc…), it seems like the good doctor works perhaps a little too quickly: he moves amazingly quickly when performing fillings & crowns (think of the fast-​talking fedex guy) and in each case we’ve had to return to his office to have the work fixed (fillings ground down, crowns re-​attached) which isn’t an issue we’ve encountered with past dentists; we found this to be a real inconvenience given how busy everyone’s lives are these days.
My wife went in for a crown that had fallen off after 3 years, Dr. Siegal put it back in place and it fell off again 2 days later on a weekend. She was able to return to Dr. Siegal on Monday to have it affixed more permanently. It’s still holding, 18 months later.
In my case, at my first cleaning I asked the Dr. if he could correct a chip in my front tooth from a recent accident. He filled the chip and I had to return the next week to have it leveled down, as it was protruding. I still really liked the guy but it took effort to get back to his office, on crutches, to have the work re-​done.
6 months later, at the next cleaning, he told me it was time to fill a small, painless cavity in a molar that I’d known about for years (dentists had previously told me to wait & watch). –I’ve only a couple other fillings in total, all over 10 years old, so I’m no expert, but I don’t recall any filling being painful like this new one. The pain was intense for a couple of days and I ended up on the phone with the Dr., who was quite kind about the whole thing, and said he hoped and expected that the pain would subside after a couple more days. It did die down, though ice cream will still occasionally set it off, unlike my other fillings that I’m completely unaware of.
That said, the actual complaint about the filling is that it was, just like the patched front tooth, too tall! It was hitting the tooth above it and hurtling as a result. I had to return again to Dr. Siegal’s office to have it ground down.
In each of three instances where we had work done (beyond cleaning & checkup), we had to return to have the work revised. In each case we were originally struck by how quickly the Dr. works, and in each case we were inconvenienced by having to return to his office for revision.

Dr. Siegal and his staff are wonderful! My current hygienist is Karen, who is thorough, gentle, and friendly. I’ve been going to this office for years, have always had a great experience, and have referred many friends who agree.
UPDATE, Sept. 2014: Dr. Siegal bonded my front teeth last month to cover up some ugly erosion, and he did a wonderful job. I was a bit nervous, but he and his assistant were, as usual, incredibly kind, the procedure was completely painless, and the results look great – thanks Doc!

John did really great job for me. I was NYU student when I started having problems with my back teeth. First I went to NYU student dentist and it was the worst experience I have ever had they wanted to do root canals on 3 of my teeth and charge 10k$. I was desperate. Luckily one of my friends recommended Dr. Siegal. It was like a dream come true. He took xrays and told me that there is a chance he can avoid root canals which he successfully accomplished. If not for John I would simply pull my teeth out because I would not be able to afford 3 root canals. I definitely recommend Dr Sjegal to everyone who is looking for excellent dentist for reasonable price.

I have been going to Dr. Seigal for 3 years! He is fantastic. He and his staff are extremely kind and friendly. He filled numerous cavities and replaced my terrible crowns with very real looking porcelain crowns. I could not be happier. I think the best part of a visit to Dr. Siegal’s office is sitting in the hygenist’s chair… Irina is fabulous! No pain, whatsoever! How often do you find that in a dentist’s office?

I have been going to this dentist for going on thirty years! John Siegal is a great dentist with an excellent aesthetic eye. He fixed two discolored front teeth into «natural wonders.» His staff is great too – most have been there for a long time, are friendly, intelligent, seem to like their job and their boss.
Best of all, they call a day or two in advance to remind you of your appointment, something which you can «forget» if you aren’t keen on seeing the dentist. They are often booked weeks in advance, but will work with you to schedule an appt. at a good time.
