Joseph S. Murphy Institute For Worker Education & Labor Studies

I went to the Joseph Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies which is at this location, the Queens College Extension. I love the location here it’s a block and a half away from Bryant Park and several blocks away from Times Square so you can literally get there from almost anywhere. Many labor and organizing conferences are held here over the weekends. It is only 2 floors, but recent so the whiteboards and classrooms are new. It’s an extension and a center for «worker education», most of the students here are leaders and shop stewards in their union and go to classes at night. The library has a lot of great magazines on contemporary working class issues. They have a computer room with, new computers which is a privilege. The center also produces a labor journal called «New Labor Forum» which is good. It’s small, but a resource for labor and working class studies in the middle of midtown which makes this college get 4 stars.
