I walked not too far from my dorm here, and it was worth getting caught in the rain. It’s very reasonably priced, and the ladies working were very nice and knowledgeable about caring for the plants. It was nice to have so many options, and have them wrap them up so they were easy to carry back.
Definitely will be back to add to my collection of cacti and succulents!

I cannot stress how great this little shop was. The owner Joy was so lovely and helpful. I had originally come in to buy a succulent plant and ask about the option to create your own succulent arrangement as a gift to my friend. Joy’s daughter answered my questions regarding this and confirmed that they could indeed set up for my friend to customize her succulent arrangement. I would just have to call to give a heads up in case they are super busy at the store.
So that is what I did, and it was an awesome experience. Joy was patient and warm while helping my friend with each step of the process. Even though my friend was indecisive because the store has so many nice succulents and options for decorating the terrarium, Joy reassured us to take our time. Which we did. It was really nice to chat and learn about the succulents. Joy even asked about my succulents I had bought on my last visit. She gave clear instructions and tips on taking care of the plants.
I will definitely be returning to make my own succulent arrangement! It’s a fun experience to share with friends. Joy mentioned how great it is to do with a couple of people outside the shop when it is warmer. I highly recommend this nice family-​owned shop.

Had a great experience ordering from here on a Sunday morning. Called Joy who told me to text her the order and within 3 hours it was created and delivered. Wasn’t sure what I wanted so she just used her experience to create a great bouquet. I would definitely order from here again as opposed to any online site. Price was very reasonable.

Such a wonderful gem! Wish I could give you more than 5 stars. For the past two years, I have come here to purchase gifts for just about every special occasion. Joy is so very helpful, and really has such a beautiful craft. You can tell she is the best at what she does. Amazing selection of plants, flowers, succulents, terrariums, and so much more! Totally personalized and unique arrangements, and at such a great price!

Joy’s Flowers deserve a million stars!
Joy went way above and beyond for our wedding flowers. The flowers, arrangements, corsages and boutonnieres for both our wedding and rehearsal event were stunning in every way. We didn’t give her much time but in the little we gave her, she hit a game winning home run. She personally came to our wedding and helped people with corsages and attaching boutonnieres.
Wedding planning is stressful. After meeting with Joy once and seeing how professional, knowledgeable and frankly plain sweet she is, we were totally at ease and confident with the flowers. Our hopes and expectations were wildly exceeded. My new bride and I can’t sing enough praises for Joy and her team. If we move to other side of the world, we’d still call Joy for anything flower related. We had guests cry because of how beautiful she made our wedding look!
We are not frequent Unilocal post’ers, but we made an exception for Joy. All of the other reviews about how amazing she is, are true. If not understatements!
If you need any kind of floral arrangement, terrarium, and/​or otherwise for any event, you would be wise to go see Joy.

Joy is the absolute best ever. I ordered an arrangement of sunflowers to surprise my wife with at work. Joy delivered them herself. Come to find out, Joy had also made the bouquet for our wedding a few months back which were also amazing! 5 f*cking stars!

My very first DIY terrarium was created in this warm & welcoming florist shop! Joy and her daughter were incredible with helping me through the entire experience from choosing succulents through to arranging and putting the finishing touches. She provided some guidance while ensuring I owned the creative process. They have a moderate range of succulents (dependent on supply and/​or time of visit), and a large variety of terrarium décor (ie. sand, moss, seashells and even tiny figurines!). My finished terrarium ended up being very reasonable priced, and I even bought a beta fish which they sold on the side.
Highly recommended! This will be future go-​to for gift ideas and perhaps more DIY terrariums for myself!

I would like to thanks Joy for the last minute arrangement that was done for my mom for her birthday .All I need was told her how much and I didn’t see the flowers beforehand, I am so happy with how everything came out. The price is reasonable too. Will definitely come back.

I tried to place an order over email, to which Joy never responded. So I called for a delivery for the following day. She said that I needed to text her the necessary information (this was a work order and hence I prefer email for records than personal phone texts), and she said it would be delivered by 5pm the next day.
I called the next morning to confirm, and she didn’t even remember that I had placed the order. I then had to call three more times that day to confirm that it was going out. Finally at 4:45pm I called and she said she didn’t have time because she had to go buy the glass for the terrarium and it was raining out and I said that those are factors she should have considered when making the agreement and that she shouldn’t have confirmed with me if she wouldn’t be able to honor our agreement. I turned around and called a different place and they had the order taken care of in one phone call in five minutes.

Great place! I came here because of the reviews and was not disappointed. Relatively small place but awesome staff and beautiful flowers! I asked them to make me a bouquet for a guy– $ 40 budget. They made me a beautiful bouquet in a few minutes.

This little shop on Hester St. is just plain magical. I love strolling in here on my lunch break and the occasional weekend to pick up new plants for my apartment.
Joy is the loveliest lady, who knows her plants! I need not say more, seeing how good her reviews are already. But really, I find her prices to be fair and reasonable. I frequent different garden stores in the city just to see what’s pretty and new and I always end up back at Joy’s to buy my plants.
Sometimes I walk out of here with nothing but a nice conversation with the owner and that’s okay. Makes you love New York.

This place is adorable. I came in interested in Joy making a terrarium for me because of her stellar reviews and she was extremely nice and helpful to guide me with her process and I chose a few plants to go in mine. I have to say– Joy really puts a lot of passion into her craft of making terrariums. I’m really pleased with the way she made mine. This is why if you’re looking for one, or to get one made, you’re better off coming here than going through and buying one from online :)

I love joy! She is super sweet and talented. I trusted joy with my flowers for my engagement photoshoot and for my wedding, and she delivered both times! This place is incredibly cute and is run by the sweetest lady in the world named Joy. Joy is extremely knowledgable with flowers and plants and helpful when you’re looking for that perfect gift. She makes you feel comfortable in this cozy little store that is filled with decorations and plants everywhere.
I came in the store indecisive on what to get for my girlfriend. I was looking at a bouquet of flowers, but I was convinced by Joy to get a terrarium. They last a lot longer, and show something a little more extra than just a green plant. There’s tiny cacti and succulents filled with colorful rocks, moss and sand.
It was the perfect gift for my girlfriend. It’s definitely something that you can get for your significant other, or simply a thank you present to somebody else.

A friend of my just bought her first house and my first thought was — who wouldn’t love a terrarium. I went to Joy after reading all the great reviews and was pleasantly surprised when they all turned out to be true! She is insanely genuine and honest. I told the size I wanted and she actually suggested that I buy the case outside her shop and then go back to her for the «fillings» as it would be cheaper. Now who steers customers away to save them a couple of bucks? Joy! So I did and went back to her, gave her my budget which she work ingeniously around, and produced a vibrant and simply gorgeous terrarium for my friend’s new home! I know my pal will be thrilled to see this but to be honest I really want to keep it for myself. What now? Guess, I’ll just have to revisit this lovely place again. (^_​^)

P’Joy has become like my aunt; I love her enthusiasm and honesty so much. Not to mention she’s flower+plant+succulent whisperer. Never out to hustle, she’s super honest about the lifespan and care of her flowers. I told her to charge more (as she undercharges), but she just laughed and said «it’s ok. I like it here.»
She’s full of knowledge. You can truly tell she cares for her plants and her customers… me!
Still can’t understand how she makes such miracles from such a tiny space, but she does. What an incredible design senses she has. I have friends from all over, even the UWS who come down to see her arrangements. Hope we stay neighbors forever.

I came here after seeing all good reviews. And this place is far more amazing than I expect. I went to find a terrarium as a gift to my friend. Joy is such a great artist, she is very serious about plants and flowers. The terrarium tuned out very lovely and beautiful. I even wanted to keep it for myself.

Joy’s shop (and Joy herself!) might be small, but don’t be fooled! She has HUGE talent and an unbeatable eye and touch. She did all the flowers for my wedding, from bridal/​bridal party bouquets to centerpieces, and played a big role in making our wedding absolutely stunning.
Our wedding was a formal affair, with an «old New York elegance» theme. I wanted big, elaborate centerpieces to go with it — and not only did I want impressive centerpieces, I wanted centerpieces that were unique and memorable. A tall order, but Joy didn’t just overdeliver and surpass my expectations — she totally blew them out of the water.
Even working with Joy throughout the process was a JOY (no pun intended — it actually was!). She was knowledgeable and happy, and very accommodating as she listened to my ideas and came up with ideas of her own to execute my vision. I could tell she genuinely cared about making our wedding dreams come true. She put so much heart into all the work she did for us, and even stayed up all night before the wedding perfecting our arrangements.
On the big day, my bridal bouquet was intricately detailed, wrapped in lace with tiny pearl buttons mimicking the pearls on my dress. When we walked into the New York Athletic Club reception venue, my jaw literally dropped. The room, thanks in large part to the centerpieces, was nothing short of spectacular. Elegant, dramatic and glamorous. Each centerpiece was fresh and absolutely beautiful. Our head table centerpiece was a showstopper: Joy had engineered an ingenious way to hang clear globes, each with an orchid floating inside, from the floral arrangement.
We received many, many compliments from our friends and family; you know it’s real when her centerpieces even captured the attention of some of our least-​florally-​inclined male guests.
I’m still marveling that my husband and I stumbled across Joy’s shop quite accidentally. We discovered a true hidden gem!!! Choosing to entrust Joy with our wedding was one of the best decisions we made.

I came here looking for a terrarium and Joy was so helpful. She offered to make one for me fresh when I was looking at some of the display terrariums and at no additional cost. She told me to come back later that day and true to her word she had a beautiful terrarium ready to be wrapped. You could tell that she cared about her craft and that she is good at it. You could also tell that she really wanted you to be happy too and she wasn’t just trying to gouge you like some other flower shops with these kinds of unique designs. While I was browsing I also saw that she has an incredible diversity of plants and flowers. You could probably find anything you could want here at a much better price.

Joy always has a smile and she loves what she does. She is a beautiful person and it reflects in the work she does.
I recommend asking her about easy to care for plants for your home.
