I deeply appreciate working with Dr. Karuna. I went from doctor to doctor trying to get to the bottom of my feeling depleted, having hormonal issues, and losing my hair. I was repeatedly told I was «perfectly normal and healthy,» even though I struggled because many of the tests indicated I was within normal range. It was only when Dr. Karuna and I met, that I began to really tackle my challenges and transform them. She did a comprehensive assessment, and ordered a test to evaluate various hormone levels in my body. Then she recommended supplements and diet changes that have been instrumental in changing my life. I went from having limited energy to having sustained centered energy, having poor circulation to feeling strong, having poor sleep to getting rest, and having a good mood more and more of the time. The care Dr. Karuna demonstrates is exceptional. She is a devoted listener, tuning in to each and every item I share and addressing what needs to happen to relieve my symptoms and provide wellness for me. I sought Dr. Karuna out after going off of birth control and experiencing extreme hormonal imbalances. A decade on birth control and PCOS had my endocrine system completely off kilter. Luckily, Dr. Karuna specialized in these issues. She ordered blood tests and from there was able to get a clear and definite picture of what was going on with my body.
I appreciated her integration of clear diagnostic testing with natural treatments. After receiving my lab results Dr. Karuna put me on a fairly entailed supplement regimen along with other lifestyle recommendations. It was great that she took in to account my lifestyle and was able to work with me to create a routine that was workable. I have noticed an improvement in my energy, sleep, and overall health. I was also seeing her specifically for acne as a result of coming off of the birth control (apparently this is a very common occurrence). This too has improved.
I really liked the holistic approach she took to my health– taking in to account elements like stress and many other things.
I was a little wary at first because of the high costs of the tests and supplements and everything, however I see that it is worth it. It’s an investment in your health, and the nice thing is with natural treatments as opposed to western medicine is that you are actually strengthening your body and it’s systems so that it can eventually support itself. So over the long term, this type of care is much better.
I was also a little wary about the phone consultations as opposed to in person visits. However, these have actually proved to be far better. Because of the phone consults, I was able to continue my care despite traveling and if anything changed in regards to my health regimen, I was able to enact those changes immediately instead of waiting until I had the time to go in to the office in person. This was really convenient.
I highly recommend Dr. Karuna, especially for any women experiencing hormone imbalances or skin issues or irregular periods and extra especially for anyone with PCOS. She has really helped me to see true and natural change in my overall health.

Dr. Sabnani has been my motivator and healer. Before I met her, I was very sick with stomach pain, hormone imbalances, anxiety and skin inflammation. I had been to every traditional doctor with no success. While working with Dr. Sabnani, not only have I been able to heal myself through my diet change and supplements she suggested, but I also had no problem conceiving my first child. My pregnancy has been healthy and I have not felt any sickness or excessive weight gain. I really feel this is due to the work we have done together. I have made changes toward a more anti-​inflammatory diet, I have a better understanding of my hormones and my how my body works, and I know the foods that make my body feel best.
In the beginning, I was very reluctant to take all of the supplements she recommended for me, but I was desperate and they really did help. I do wish they were more affordable, but as the months went by, I have been able to cut back on some and still feel good. I recommend anyone who is «Stuck» with their ailments, frustrated with traditional doctors, or looking for alternative healing methods to contact Dr. Sabnani. Trust her work, she really knows what she is talking about!

I saw Dr Sabnani last year. She is wonderful, knowledgeable, and caring. She gets 5 stars. Working with her staff is beyond frustrating. They get 1 star. So I’ll average my rating. If you’re looking for a change in your life, Dr Sabnani will help you find it.

I oscillated back and forth between 2 and 3 stars but decided to give Karuna Naturopathinc 3 stars mainly because she did give me the boost I needed to pursue a healthy lifestyle.
The main thing that encouraged me to pursue some sort of health care was extreme hair loss and a general feeling of not having energy or inspiration. I just felt unhealthy. My body and my mind were telling me so. On top of that, I didn’t really know the first thing about what to eat or what to do.
The appointment itself went pretty well– Dr. Karuna was very kind, a great listener, and good at asking questions/​getting to know her patients. What kinda bothered me was that I felt like there wasn’t much grace or consideration for what was doable for me in changing my lifestyle. For example– cheese is my favorite thing on earth yet she insisted I completely give up dairy in order to live a healthy life. It was discouraging and made me feel like I couldn’t tackle a new lifestyle if I was supposed to never eat the thing I love most. She also suggested my body won’t be happy as long as I have an IUD (non-​hormonal) because it’s a foreign object in my body. Again, I felt really discouraged by her telling me that women that listen to her and get their IUDs out are the ones who get healthy. I tried explaining that I never want kids and it’s really anxiety producing for me to worry about getting pregnant all the time, yet she still made me feel shitty for having it.
Apart from those few things, I did learn some helpful things from Dr. Karuna. Most notably– facts about detoxing and good things to eat, as well as some great lifestyle tips. As far as costs go, I was prepared to pay the $ 500 for the initial two consultations. The thing I wasn’t prepared for was the protocol that she gave me during the second appointment. Essentially it consists of a detox smoothie program and supplements to be purchased through her that are targeted specifically for my problems. I had no idea that bill was going to be $ 550 on top of everything else. I ended up passing on getting anything because I wasn’t intending to spend that– so just make sure that you are prepared for the cost. I’m sure that all those things she offered would have been great, but I didn’t have the money to afford it.
I still give three stars because the experience really pulled me out of a rut and got me into educating myself about food, supplements, and a healthy lifestyle. I can say that I’m feeling a lot better because of some of the things she told me as well as the research i did on my own and the changes I started to make.
I don’t really know whether or not to recommend Dr. Karuna since I couldn’t afford the protocol, but it definitely wasn’t a bad experience. just depends on what you need! As long as you know what you are getting into– I think she’s really intelligent and good at encouraging change into your life. :)

Awesome doctor and very knowledgeable!
I was dealing with pretty serious adrenal fatigue after chiropractic college and couldn’t really seem to pull it together on a lot of levels. My sleep was terrible, my anxiety was high, it was such a huge effort for me to get out of bed and I just couldn’t focus during the day. This was not normal for me always having been active in sports and very high energy in my life, but I just couldn’t motivate myself to get going with work or function well in my relationships.
Last year I did my first triathlon, got married and have been more focused at work than I ever have been, Dr. Sabnani’s treatments and recommendations have truly helped transform my life and get me back to my old self again. I’m so glad I chose a naturopathic way back to health!

This is the first review I have ever done, but I really think it is important to educate people on what they will get. I am sure, at the end of the day, that Dr. Karuna is a competent person, but she was definitely not the right person for me. I came into her office feeling so ill. I had to wait for the next appointment to get any suggestions, but those two visits made her score BIG financially from me. That’s just wrong, Friends, sorry, but it is. Next, some of her suggestions were just plain — well, idiotic. Again, did I mention that I was feeling so ill I could barely function? She told me to bathe lying down in the bath tub (yeah, that will fix my problems) and paint one of my walls a new color (hooray, I’m cured!) Are you kidding me? How about we fix my illness and help me back to health?
She was truly a waste of time for me. She is better off helping young 20 somethings with their skin and weight, then focusing on more serious stuff. She was also late to both appointments — keeping me waiting while I basically paid her $ 500 for absolutely nothing. Are you kidding me? Really? Come on, sweetheart, that’s just unprofessional and makes you look bad. People judge you on what you give them and if it isn’t much, then you get a bad review. Common sense.

My mom has been having various health problems for years from skin to vascular to cardiac problems. Recently it has really gone downhill and she looked so weak that many days, she cannot even get out of bed. I was getting really desperate because she was literally deteriorating right before my eyes. Even as a senior in her 70’s, I did not believe she could be doomed to this type of quality of life at this stage.
Even more frustrating is when I try to talk to her family doctor or cardiologist and try to explain her deteriorating condition as well as her suffering. They brush me off and say «oh, its normal with old age». The only solution to them is a pill, then another pill to combat the side effects of the first pill, and so on. Just treat the condition, never mind the cause.
I even suggested a very popular and well documented condition that most people with chronic diseases suffer from called Leaky Gut Syndrome. this is when your digestive system is so overwhelmed with toxicity from years of eating processed foods, pesticides, etc that the toxins will leak through your digestive track, into your blood stream and cause all the chronic conditions from Psoriasis to MS. I actually saw a young girl on Dr Oz say that she went on the Paleo diet and all her MS symptoms disappeared and never came back in the last 3 – 4 years. Meanwhile her regular doctors told her in the early stages of her diseases that she was doomed to go on more & more meds while her condition will continue to deteriorate for the rest of her life. Lucky she did not accept their word or her fate.
After seeing Dr. Karuna, I put my mom on a strict diet & eliminated all dairy, gluten, Fish & soy. I cooked all her meals consisting of healthy organic greens and proteins. She also took severall supplements which Dr. Karuna had ordered for me. Within only a few days, you can actually see a HUGE dramatic change in her health and mood. I would not have believed it if I didn’t see it for myself, like a miracle. She is now a few weeks into the protocol, but her change is absolutely incredible. From not being able to get up from bed to going on long walks int he morning, taking up sewing again, simple things like watching TV. All her friends are asking what is she taking or how did she do it. My mom constantly brags about Dr. Karuna to all her friends!

I am giving Dr. Karuna 5 stars, because this woman is incredible. I work in the skin care industry at a medical spa, and was referred to her by one of my clients. It was the best thing that has ever happened to my health.
Since I was a little girl I have struggled with my weight. I have tried so many diets, and have tried to clean up my diet over the past few years, but I struggle so much with cravings. I can go a few days with eating healthy, but then I feel so deprived and I eat the wrong foods or overeat due to my cravings.Dr. Karuna has taught me the foods I need to be eating and chose different supplements to get my health on track and to help me with my cravings and digestion. I have not felt bloated in two months. She has so many secrets, advice, recipes, and tools that I will have forever. After meeting with her she even ordered all my supplements for me and had them shipped to my house. I only had to give my cc # and that was it. I wasn’t rushing around the city trying to find all these natural supplements. She will even do a phone session or Skype with patients who have hectic schedules. She will be my doctor forever. I have lost over 10 pounds so far, and I am still going strong on my journey. Dr. Karuna has this energy about her that makes a person feel comfortable and you can tell that she truly wants to change your life. She really is a blessing. I needed to find balance and after meeting her I understand what balance really means.
I have gone to several doctors and dermatologists, and they just spend about 5 min with me, write a prescription for an antibiotic, and that’s it. I have been on birth control since I was 14 and I even took other medications as an adult to help me with anxiety. I do not take ANY medicine now. Nada! I feel full of life, I know what to eat now, I feel so healthy and happy. When you truly start taking care of yourself, you are able to enjoy everything that life has to offer and are able to help others. My family back home kept telling me that I was glowing and it is from listening to Dr. Karuna’s advice about changing my lifestyle.
I read one of the bad reviews on this Unilocal account and those prices are not adequate in the slightest. In fact that is so exaggerated and fabricated. It bothers me that someone could write a review like that about someone as spiritual and giving as Dr. Karuna. Calling Dr. Karuna condescending is like calling the Dalai Lama a jerk. Seriously she has such a giving spirit and you can ask this woman anything.
She was strict when she told me I must change my diet and lifestyle, but that is only because she wanted me to be serious about my health and she wanted me to heal. I just love her!
Being healthy and happy comes from so many aspects. It is the food we eat, the air we breathe, dental health, the water we drink, the way we handle stress, the sleep we should have, the way we treat others, the colors we chose to wear, the vitamins we take etc. She has ALL THE ANSWERS! Dr. Karuna can help lead you on a healthy spiritual path. You have to be ready for change in order to change. If you are ready to be a healthier person from the inside then go see her. She is so much more than a doctor. I truly feel at peace in my life and watching the scale go down is also a lot of fun. :-)

Dr Karuna was very condescending and I felt she was trying to find/​lure out problems and medicate them (all natural but non the less a quick fix). I came in for an all over check up and diet/​lifestyle regimen, all I walked away with was a $ 500 office visit, and a «protocol» of supplements which cost close to $ 400. I truly feel like I got ripped off.

Having been a vegetarian for 14 years, nearly half my life, I tend to think I have a pretty healthy lifestyle. I exercise daily and use super all natural products on my body and in my home. I don’t get sick very often and when I do, it’s not like me to rush to the nearest doctor for a quick antibiotic fix. Last spring I became very ill and had to go on antibiotics to try to remedy the situation. Guess what? They didn’t work, at all.
Exasperated, I sought a naturopath for the first time and found Dr. Karuna on Unilocal.She spent more time with me in my first visit then all the other doctors I had seen combined! I ended up discovering that I was being poisoned by mold hidden in my apt ceiling. Dr. Karuna gave me a comprehensive protocol to follow, and that, along with being removed from my apartment, got me back on track after two months of being ill. I visit Dr. Karuna now for maintenance and whenever new issues arise. Although, my insurance covers my other doctors, for me it is worth the money to get holistic, thoughtful treatment from her.
Just a note on why I gave four stars instead of five. Like a reviewer below, getting a prescribed protocol without knowing how much it is going to cost is something that caught me off guard. Having spoken to her about it, we now discuss any supplements she would like me to take and I have a choice of purchasing them myself online or through her.
Overall I would definitely recommend Dr Karuna for anyone who is fed up with mainstream healthcare practitioners.

I have used Dr. Karuna’s services for the past year. At the time, I
was suffering from acute stress, exhaustion, mood swings, and hair
loss. I felt like a menopausing grandmother ²⁴⁄₇ even though I am a
20-​something-​year-​old woman. All of the doctors that I previously saw
explained that the cause of my hair loss was genetic and their
treatments were unsuccessful. In my first session with Dr. Karuna, she
quickly tied it all to hormones and genetics. In other words, my
genetic make up developed the imperfect state that my hormones were
in. She pointed out ways to improve my lifestyle and thus gain energy,
joy, calmness in my life, and of course regain my hair. After that,
Dr. Karuna continued her holistic, meticulous approach.
I found out so much about myself in my sessions and medical tests for
her. For one thing, I thought I was healthy. I ate my veggies and
fruits. I ate protein, and I avoided greasy foods. But then I learned
that my hormones were out of wack. In fact, they were at very
unhealthy levels. I also learned that each body is unique. What may be
healthy for one person, may be toxic for me. As such, I have to pay
attention to my body and its reactions to food, the environment,
events, and other stimuli.
In each session, Dr. Karuna and I sit down and discuss what’s going on
in my life. Dr. Karuna is not the cold, sterile doctor who we often
typically meet. Instead, she is warm and inviting like a friend. Her
caring nature is sincere, and she is the salt of the earth. During
these sessions, I feel compelled to share my feelings and causes of
stress and any new happenings in my life to her as if she were my long
lost friend. She takes notes and makes a few brief comments during my
explanations. Afterwards, she recommends natural foods and items that
treat my ailment. Many of her recommendations I found in a health food
store and Whole Foods, which is easy on my pocket compared to
prescription drugs, and I learned that the majority of ailments can be
treated with a trip to the health food store and a very healthy
lifestyle. Furthermore, Dr. Karuna has a rare talent that most doctors
lack: the ability to view things holistically and then focus on each
problem area. By treating each problem area, she treats the whole
body. For example, she did not only treat my hair with hair products.
She also treated my hormones with much needed supplements.
As a result of my sessions with Dr. Karuna, I feel as good as I felt
in college. I feel like a rejuvenated 20-​something-​year-​old every
day, not the cranky grandmother I used to be. My hair is growing
longer and thicker. I feel happy and more in control of my health.

I there a zero star option? Where should I even start? Dr. Sabnani was very condescending during our 1^st session about my thyroid disorder (and kept me waiting for almost 30 mins!), and did not work with my actual lifestyle — only with her own ideal one. She then pushed a random supplement on me without telling me how much it would cost and then two weeks later, I received the bill. The sessions, at $ 225, are also expensive and in my opinion not worth it. If looking for a natural doctor, better off with someone who actually has a medical degree and practices natural remedies, than someone who does not have a true MD background. I found the whole experience with Dr. Sabnani to be very frustrating and not helpful — I will be looking for another naturopath.

I began seeing Dr. Karuna in 2003. At that time I had been diagnosed with Glaucoma, and high blood pressure. I also had long standing digestive issues, and lack of energy.
Dr. Karuna focuses on wellness and overall health. rather than just the symptoms. She prescribed diet and lifestyle changes and supplements, in a wonderful and compassionate way. Following Dr. Karuna’s protocols my Glaucoma and high blood pressure are in the normal range. I no longer have digestive issues, and I am now having regular bowel movements. My energy level is much better, and my thought patterns are more positive.
I feel through Dr. Karuna’s intuitive care, and life style counseling. I am feeling more balanced and continuing to grow. I have a new awareness of myself.

Dr. Karuna treats *the whole person* like no other doctor I’ve gone to. She does a really thorough intake, asking questions that really give her a deep sense of what is actually going on in your whole body – as a system, not as an isolated bag of symptoms to be treated.
I went to Dr. Karuna for intense sciatic pain, from an old injury. She addressed it with diet, supplements, exercise, and lifestyle. She is also soooo compassionate. I always hate it when you go to a doctor and you want to ask, «Do you even care about people? Do you even really care about my health?» With Dr. Karuna, I get the feeling that she really cares about my well being in all senses of the word. She has this beautiful motherliness that I believe *all* doctors should have, but few do.
She is also incredibly knowledgeable, and great about presenting that knowledge to you in an accessible way. She really empowered me to understand the totality of what is going on in my system. She empowers you to take care of yourself – not to become dependent on her. I’ve learned some great lifestyle practices from her; and appreciate how she is so open to what I want and am willing to do, not trying to cajole me into anything I’m not ready for.
I also LOVE how well-​versed she is in so many modalities! She is a bonafide expert in naturopathy, but also brings in Chinese and Ayurvedic principles, as well. And even better, she addresses the spiritual components of what’s going on with you, if that’s something you want to hear about.
I would recommend Dr. Karuna to anyone, without hesitation.

I recently went off St. John’s Wort cold turkey, thinking it wasn’t doing much for my mood, and briefly started up taking natural lithium. Found myself in a big old depressive fog.
Wasn’t quite sure what was affecting what. Then I spoke with Karuna and her recommendations were quite effective for relieving my disorienting affectation. Got back on SJW and added a very helpful homeopathic supplement as well. And now I know better to wean off of SJW when I do.
