Established in 2002.

Built and owned by two hard working Hungarians, and beloved by locals and those in the know, Keybar triples as a bar, DJ lounge, and jewelry-​box sized nightclub for an übercool, international, carefree clientele who pop in for the cocktails and famous 2 for 1 happy hour and stay for the amazing music and downtown New York-​meets-​Budapest vibe. Global DJs energize the crowd every night with everything from 80’s grooves to house and with the fire crackling in the hearth casting a warm glow across the room and an ultra friendly European staff serving an excellent selection of beers, cocktails, and signature shots (including the delectable Rolo shot and Zwack, a Hungarian herbal liqueur), it’s hard not to fall under the spell of Keybar’s special allure. Owner managed since opened, KEYBAR is famous about it’s fantastic hospitality from the owners, bartenders, DJs and regulars and attracts loyal costumers and friends nut just from New York City and the USA, but from all round the world.

Business Owner

Growing up in Hungary we always dreamed abut the US. Before we moved to New York in 2002, we owned/​managed several bars/​clubs back home and in the UK. The Babushka in London, the Orange Café Rock Club, the Jimi Hendrix Music Pub Restaurant in Hungary what actually become legendary between American medical students studying that time in Debrecen. In 2000 we opened the GENIUS Café-​Bar mentioned in tour-​books «as one of the best places to go» in Hungary. Opening and successfully running KEYBAR in New York (East Village) was the icing on the cake. It is really funny how and where life can take you. From a collage graduate in Hun. a bar owner in Manhattan. The best is when we see our American med. student friends coming to KEYBAR as practicing doctors to have the same rolo shot as they had in their collage days in our place 15 years ago. Than we think we definitely did something right, something what you can only measure from the loyalty of your costumers.
