Came for the Falafel Sandwich and for the most part I was satisfied. My only issue was that it completely fell apart and I found myself looking like a neanderthal trying to eat it. I made quite a mess at the table I ate at and all over my face and hands. A delicious mess though. I would recommend asking for a to go box and a fork to anyone getting a sandwich because it will fall apart and when it does, you will be ready for it. I ended up throwing half away because I was making too much of a mess and making a skeptical of myself. I would have finished it though if I had a to go box to throw it in and a fork to finish it off. Great price, great taste, great quick service

Undoubtedly more enjoyable than halal guys. The chicken tastes and feels like its either from a better producer or cut and seasoned better. The falafel has a broader spice profile. It’s not heavy with cumin but its still fragrant and tantalizing. And yea, KOF makes them in oblong shapes instead of spheres so it’s easier to eat in a sandwich or a rice plate. To cap it all off the rice is more plump and moist. The guy even gave me a free falafel for the road! This is my new go to for street meat

Best street meat in the city. Beats the Halal Guys. I always get the Ashley plate over salad with extra red sauce. Tons of food, and surprisingly not too heavy. The free falafel while you wait in line is a nice touch.

Simple amazing! This stand is cash only and they give you a falafel while you wait in line which made me decide to have two orders of the falafel pieces because it was THAT good. I also tried the shawarma which was also delicious. Be prepared to to wait in line cause I’ll be coming back!

I love these guys! The line is often 20 people deep. When the line is long, they will come out and give you free falafel. Take some, it’s outstanding! I think it’s a bit ironic that they are right in front of the Lever House, as I would actually prefer to go here. They take their Vendy award very seriously, which I think is very cool. What is particularly awesome about this place is that they have been able to upgrade over the years from a small cart to a small truck. It’s a success story in motion. I personally get the Ashley. Go early, and avoid the wait.

I’m absolutely addicted to this place — and I’m lucky enough to live in Astoria so I can feast both at their Midtown location and in their new storefront location. Everybody here has talked about how great the food is, so I’ll limit myself to telling a quick story. I make a pilgrimage to visit the King about once a week at work, and after months of coworkers curiously asking what the hell I was eating — they were understandably a little leery of anything that looks like standard street meat — I finally just bought an extra sack of falafel when I was getting my chicken and falafel platter, and left it like a ritual offering on a communal console. Ten minutes later, one of my coworkers wandered up, whispering, «Damn you,» and called me a life ruiner. On the upside: now I have at least one or two buddies every week for my visit to the King!

This place was really good! I love that they give you a falafel in line when you’re standing(and it was a pretty good falafel too). I opted to get a chicken schwarma sandwich and was not disappointed(although my spice level tolerance has gone down quite significantly — and I wish I opted for the mild over spicy). Anyway, for five dollars it was a HUGE portion, and I’m so satisfied because had I gone across the street I would have paid a little more for the fraction of the portion. I can see myself coming back here to try something else!

First time trying and was not disappointed. Probably the best halal food I’ve had in the city. Super fresh food and friendly service.

I had their chicken and rice years ago at the Vendy Awards where they won both top prizes and deservedly so. I am thrilled that a cart has since opened in midtown so that I don’t have to make the trek to Astoria to try this again. In my opnion(as you can see by my rating) I think this is the best cart of chicken and rice. It beast The Halal Guys in my opnion. Their spicy sauce is no where near as spicy as Halal Guys, but it doesn’t bother me because the food itself is tastier. The chicken is delicious and I love the salad that they include… which has the pickled pink turnips and pickles themselves. It adds such a great bit of acidity to the chix and rice. The guys at this cart are really nice too. If there is a shorter line sometimes they’ll give you a falafel ball to munch on as you wait. :)

I ate here for a straight month almost every workday. Crazy I know, but it’s very good! I usually get chicken or chicken shwarma over salad for diet reasons. Delicious every time. Due my dieting I don’t eat the falafel that they offer while I’m standing in line but I definitely appreciate it and think it’s an extremely classy move. Great people, very kind gentlemen who run the cart! At $ 7, trying it is a no brainer.

Let me start of by saying they are no Halal Guys. Yes there have won awards and Yes there are long lines But… One benefit of long lines as you get closer you get a free Falafel. I tired the chicken and Lamb over rice with white and hot sauce. Right off the back I have one major complaint i wonder why they call it hot sauce… Its sour sauce like really tarty. The white sauce is decent. The meats are well spiced and tastes good although something tells me to stick to Chicken next time. Now on to the name sake falafel and YES they delivered, its really flavorful and not dry like a lot of other places. Maybe next time i’ll get just the falafel. All in all its a good place i would debate about standing in line for 10 mins but its still doable and stay clear of the so called hot sauce unless u love sour sauce.

BEAWARE of their hours. I got there at 2:20 and was told all they left was falafel. I walked all the way from time square in a 100 degree weather just to try their platter. Why says closing at 3pm when you wrap up 40 minutes ahead? So misleading and disappointing.

I laugh when I see the idiots line up in that long line for Halal Guys when there is a much better option just a few blocks away. What’s wrong with that tourist trap? Everything — poor quality of ingredients, rude employees, and a ridiculously long line — all of this strictly being my opinion, of course. What makes King of Falafel so good? It’s the opposite of everything I mentioned — except for the long line. The line can be long during prime hours, but guess what — the employees actually care about your business. Often times, one of the employees will step away from the cart carrying a tray full of falafel balls and offer it to you to snack on while you wait in line. What other place does that? I’ve even figured out that there is a sweet spot where you can get two free falafel balls if the line is x long and goes just a bit past the juice cart. Anyway, while the falafel is good, I tend to get the chicken shwarma. Generally, they are consistent, but there are times where I feel gipped on the amount of chicken that they give you. It’s a reasonable $ 7 — but worth every penny. The quality of ingredients, the marinated chicken, spices, sauce, and veggies that they throw in there — pure lunch bliss. These guys won a Vendy Award for good reason.

This little street cart is dope af! and it’s right across the street from my office! Today I didn’t want to walk too far to grab lunch so I walked across the street to King of Falafel. The line was pretty long but it was quick and there is a dude that hands you falafel while you wait. It’s actually comical how the falafel is. I am not too big a fan of the meats here but the falafel is definitely top tier. Will be having lunch here more often!

This is a food cart! The falafel sandwich is good, but not great! It’s freshly made. Pita bread is ok. Overall the food is ok only. Disappointed!

This is the best falafel I’ve had in my entire life. Warm, fresh, not too crumbly, and delicious. I came at a time when there was no line(lucky me!), and immediately ordered a falafel pita after tasting a sample. It was only $ 5 for a decently sized pita with amazing sauce. I’m absolutely coming back again(probably several times) to try the meat. I may have found my new favorite lunch spot in the area. I definitely recommend stopping by this cart if you like falafel. Two thumbs up!

I think this is the best authentic food cart in the city, The lamb/beef shawrma taste is amazing as you are having it in lebanon, Palestine, or Jordan. There chicken falafel platter also so good. This the only food cart I have seen which makes flafel fom chick peas(garbinzo) not fava beans which definitely taste much better. Enjoyy

This place is good man. Excellent hot sauce, and they’re Falafel are delicious. Just be warned, the line is loooooooong, but well worth the wait. Only reason they dont get another star is because they need a bigger grill. I saw some raw chicken cooking awfully close to already cooked meat. It is a street truck, so there’s always… you know.“that risk.“ By the way, while you wait in line, one the guys comes with falafel for the people waiting in line. I like that. Classy

If there is any place I’d want to eat again in NYC, this would be it. Starved silly at 2pm, we looked up the food card randomly just because it was nearby. Ended up being some of the best chicken shawarma and FRESH falafel that I’ve ever had. EVER! There was almost no line last afternoon and while waiting/deciding on our order, they handed us these perfect freshly fried golden brown, melt-in-your-mouth falafel’s that even without dressing/sauce, was easily some of the most tasty street foods I’d ever had. The chicken shawarma plate with rice was piping hot, served with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, radish and a single falafel, then topped with a generous portion of sliced chicken right off the skewer. Then laced with your white tahini and red spicy sauces. For $ 6, I thought this was a great deal. We also ordered the falafel sandwich, which is exactly what it sounds like for something like $ 5. SOGOOD! Even though I’d heard of the Halal guys, I’m not into the minced mystery chicken meat that they serve up(which I’m sure is also tasty)…but JUST in case you’re on my boat and LOVE that fresh chunks of chicken sliced off a skewer, this truck is where you wanna order your food from.
