Visited this place quite a few times while I was staying around the corner last weekend, and I was impressed. Good reasonably priced coffee, vegan treats, pleasant service.

standard coffee-house. the staff is always friendly, but i always found the coffee to be too weak for my tastes. the pastries and sandwiches, while tasty were also really expensive. but if you go after 6, you can get all the baked goods for half-price.

This is what I want out of a coffeehouse: 1. cheery, helpful and patient customer service(i.e. don’t sigh and roll your eyes if I want my coffee a certain way that takes maybe 5 more seconds to make) 2. varied sweet and savory cheap eats(that I can preferably preview in a glass case… sometimes I need inspiration to decide what I want to eat) 3. somewhere to park my ass with a friend(NOT a laptop… what a concept) for hours and hours and hours 4. STRONG coffee 5. a potty to pee in whether i’ve purchased anything or not 6. a resounding absense of babies and children. KEEPYOURYUPPYCROTCHDROPLETSAWAYFROMME. I BITEAND I DOHAVERABIES. Thank you, Beans for creating a safe haven of caffiene for me…

I came here over the summer and was wowed by their raspberry fudge brownie. Tonight, in a healthier mood, I went for a soy latte and the vegan chocolate chip and coconut pound cake…(ok, not THAT healthy)…latte had a bizarre powdery dynamic that turned me off, but the pound cake, well worth the trip.

its not trendy. its not even classic. its not for any«type» of individual. its just a coffee house, but«just» in a good way. everything you need/want. very low key, has the internet if you want to use it… the treats aren’t gourmet– they’re desserts are fat with lumpy servings of delicious icing. beware of the bathroom. its pretty much underground.

I am liking this place so far. It’s around the corner from my place and they have pretty good coffee. I would say in comparison to the main chain ones(though this too is a chain.): Peet’s, Tully’s, Kudo Bean’s, Starbux. Yep, in that order because it’s hard to beat those Cali coffees. Overall though the place has a great vibe and good outdoor seating so you can watch the east village goings on and see cute boys and girls walk by. Inside they have PC’s for Internet at about $ 2 for 20 minutes, I think. so don’t quote me on that one. Also, they have some pretty tasty bagels. Great morning breakfast treats. Oh, and if you have a dog bring that pooch along – they are a very dog friendly establishment.
