La Mode Organic Dry Cleaner

After speaking with the dry cleaner’s management, I decided to update my review. My recent experiences have proved that they deliver high quality dry cleaning without the harsh chemicals in traditional cleaning. They provide reasonable turnaround (although other dry cleaners are faster). I have never had any issues with their dry cleaning services.
This location can definitely earn ⁵⁄₅ stars. The biggest barrier is their limited tailoring hours (7 am-​12 pm on average), and general policy to deliver to doorman buildings only.
Overall, it’s a quality dry cleaners, and the best I’ve found in the neighborhood.

I go there every time. It is very close to my apartment. They are very careful with everything. I mean, everything. I just picked up my suit there today.

La Mode has been a reliable staple in the Columbia neighborhood for years. They are friendly and efficient and get your clothes back to you on time. Plus, they are organic so no need to worry about harmful chemicals if you have children or pets. Also, they have a skilled tailor in house. 10 out of 10 would go back.

Great place. I dried cleaned before in other places in upper west side area. It turned out really bad. This is place is great. Service is nice. Good quality for all the items I dried clean here. I already dry cleaned here for more than 3 times. Every time is great. I am going to stick with his place.

After a horrible experience at another dry cleaners, I have been consistently going to La Mode. The staff is super friendly, and my clothes always come back beautiful. If ever I have a stain they always get it out.

No complaints about this cleaner. Been going here for a couple of months, every week or every other week. I usually take pants and sweaters. It’s very important to me that my sweaters be folded, not hung on the hanger, and they are always mindful of this. It has been worth the subway ride down from Hamilton Heights, because I wanted to find an eco friendly drycleaner. The service here is prompt and friendly enough. Prices are pretty good. About $ 6.50 to launder my pants. Best of all… you can use credit cards without a ridiculous minimum! That is a new experience for me. Turnaround time is quick. I have been pleased with my drycleaning experience and would recommend this location to others, especially to anyone living in Hamilton Heights who might be looking for a gentler, more environmentally friendly option.

Turns out the nice lady there that day is not their regular employee, and their feedback is timely and earnest. Will definitely go to la mode again.

Dropped off a heavy coat to be dry cleaned Saturday, was told it would be ready Tuesday at the earliest normal pricing. Sure, no issue.
Call Tuesday, I’m told I should pick it up at 5. Sure. Get a call back and I’m told it’s ~actually~ ready to be picked up now.
I go to pick it up and it has clearly not even been touched, all of the original spots just as obvious as when I dropped it off.
Bring it back to the same guy (who had just decided it was clean) a minute after walking out the door and he has me show him the spots on my coat before taking it back.
Happy (?) ending: picked it up at the end of the day and it was cleaned!
Does this place deserve a 1 star rating? It depends on how you feel about trying to be sold a phony service.
Does this place deserve the overall 4 stars it has right now? Absolutely not, especially if they give discounts to those who write them Unilocal reviews (of any rating).

Good question, and the answer lies in the fact that you CANNOT get the discount your first time using the service, so the reviews are all from recurring customers who already like the business and are establishing a relationship with it.
Also, I’m not so sure I would want to bring a review like this in, show it to the guys there, then hand them my clothes. It’s contradictory cause I’m saying simultaneously «your service is worth using» and «your service is not worth using» and I’d look like more of a dick than just from this review.

«We don’t agree with all the stuff that were written in your comment…» — Notice how NONE OF THE DETAILS OF THE STORY CHANGE when they tell it except for the Unilocal discount for bringing in a printed out review being available for 1^st timers. I was told over the phone that I couldn’t get a Unilocal discount my 1^st time, but even if I’m lying about that, the ratings would STILL be inflated:
Suppose it is available to 1^st timers and I am lying about being told «no» — then the reviews have little foundation in the service/​good of the business since people are bringing in reviews (which are likely high) before buying the product, and thus inflating the rating.
If after reading this review and their response — which matches my description exactly except for the Unilocal discount — and you aren’t convinced there’s some business bullshittery going on here, then go in and try them for yourselves lol you’re an independent adult and I don’t make decisions for you.

Excellent dry cleaning service and alterations. My clothes are always ready on time; they do their best to get stains out; and I never have to worry about them losing items. I had a pair of wide-​leg pants taken up by the seamstress and she did a wonderful job — the stitching was very neat and she did it in a couple of days. I live in Brooklyn but I still take my dry cleaning here!

LaMode Cleaners on the upper west side is really fabulous. They are very professional and they do a fantastic job with the best organic cleaning products. Organic cleaning is the only way to go as who wants harsh, dangerous chemicals on their clothing. They are also very accommodating. We are so pleased with their work and so glad to have found LaMode Cleaners.

Good neighborhood dry cleaner. I came here after reading Unilocal reviews and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. Staff takes care to note places of stains– they even got out an old vinegar stain of my silk blouse!

I’ve been using La Mode Cleaners for about 6 years now. They always do a thorough job, and most importantly, I’ve never had to worry about whether my clothing would get ruined or lost. The seamstress at La Mode is also excellent. I’ve had her hem several complex items for me, including a few full length gowns, and she always does a perfect job.
I plan to continue using La Mode for years to come!

I don’t generally dry clean because of the chemicals, but this facility is the best.
The Organic processing definitely makes the difference.
When I do need a dry cleaner it is usually for an emergency, and this facility is great at accommodating my rush requests.
They also do great repairs and even my delicate curtains came back perfect.
It is definitely my go-​to dry cleaner in Morningside Heights.

Dropped off five t-​shirts and five button-​ups. Walk home and get a call saying that they are unable to dry clean the button-​ups because the fabric was too delicate. In my years of visiting dry cleaners, I have never had this issue. They were nice and friendly but my review solely reflects the dry cleaning ability of this establishment, which was subpar.

I’ve been using La Mode for 7 years and I would never go anywhere else to have my clothes dry cleaned. Best in Morningside Heights! The staff is really friendly, they are really efficient, and I have never had any issues with their quality. They are also really great with repairs!

I’ve been going to this cleaners for about 10 years and they are my ultimate favorite in the neighborhood. They always do a spectacular job and are great at rushing my turnaround when needed. I have never had a single complaint about this company, except the prices, which seem to be high everywhere in neighborhood, unfortunately.

I’m kind of picky about hemming my pants and they did a great job. Friendly and professional. Recommended.

I moved into the neighborhood a little under a year ago and have been going to La Mode cleaner 2x per month since then. My clothes come back perfect and the service is excellent. One time a blouse was lost, which lets be honest can happen at any cleaner, but La Mode was so wonderful about it. They took my number down, told me they would search for the blouse, and get back to me by the end of the week. I didn’t think I would hear from them, but at the end of the week they called with a sincere apology and offered to compensate me for the blouse. Their policy is to credit back 10x the price of the cleaning. I understand that mistakes can happen, but rather than yelling at me and accusing me of the mistake like I hear other cleaners have done, they made the experience much better.
La mode is a wonderful business with great employees. I highly recommend them.
