I actually had a great experience here today. Went in to get blood work done this morning, arriving at 845 without an appointment. No line, signed in, and was in the chair having my blood drawn by an affable and competent young woman named Jessie within minutes. She was sweet, kind, personable and, most importantly, good at her job. Painless, quick and easy. Can’t beat that!

This is a big day! First negative review I have ever written. For medical reasons I will not bore you with here, I was required — after a 10 day period in which I had to alter my diet and lifestyle — to collect my urine in a jug for a 24 hour period. That’s right: I toted this big orange jug around to the gym, to work, on the train, to dinner… and if I had to pee, that’s where it went. When I showed up to this LabCorp location with the jug of pee, I was asked for my insurance card, my driver’s license, and my doctor’s prescription, all of which I surrendered. I was asked to place the jug of pee on the floor by the receptionist’s desk. In accordance with their instructions, It had my name on it and the times of the day and night I peed into it (this is awful, right).
«Are you sure? Right on the floor?»
«I already SAID, right on the floor!»
«Um, ok. Need anything else?»
«No. We’ll send the results to your doctor.»
Now, 3 weeks later, they can’t find my jug of pee. And worse, they have NO RECORD OF MY BEING THERE?!? Are you kidding? They took copies of my insurance card, my license, the prescription, and I handed them a 3 pound jug of pee and they have no record?
So, I’m dealing with a serious medical condition, and now I have to wait another 10 days before I can even collect a 24 hour specimen, and making this whole thing beyond frustrating… this location simply doesn’t pick up the phone when you try to call. You get a recording which — for about 10 minutes — tells you over and over again how great LabCorp is, how happy they are you called, and how important they are to the medical community, and to wait on the line for a representative… and then you get disconnected.
This LabCorp location sucks beyond words. If I were you I would do anything within my power to go elsewhere.

The girl working the front could surely stand to learn some manners and to wear a smile. I asked if fasting is always necessary before a test; I got a stupid blank stare. I asked if my insurance covered my appointment; I got an indifferent «I don’t know.» I said «thank you bye» on my way out; no response. Otherwise, I walked in without an appointment and was in and out within 15 minutes and everything went smoothly.

They could use a new and competent staff.

Absolute unmitigated disaster. I am having a weekly blood work process and no matter when I come here they are incredibly understaffed. Today I made a special attempt to get here at 7am right when they open so I could get in and out. Instead there are three people ahead of me and one person working. One person working??? Who has time for this?

I generally haven’t had problems with this lab location, until today. I experienced the most painful blood draw to date. The phlebotomist seemed incompetent and was extremely unprofessional. I have to get my blood drawn 2 – 3 times a month and this was the worst yet– the needle that was used seemed too big for my vein and when no blood came out the technician kept squeezing my arm to get the blood to flow. It was extremely painful and I asked her to please stop to which she responded that labor will hurt much more than this (I am pregnant). This was the worst, most unprofessional blood draw I have ever experienced and will not return to this location.

I scheduled an 8:30 am Saturday appointment to have routine labwork done. (It was a week before Sandy S.‘s unsuccessful attempt) The key here may be scheduling an appointment online.
So I arrived bright eyed a few minutes after 8:00 am. The door was still locked but around 10 after a lab tech opened the door and turned on the lights. She barely spoke and seemed pretty groggy. After walking I headed up to the desk to sign in and start filing out forms. I started to hand my lab order and id cards but thought better of it when I noticed the same lab tech was struggling to startup the computer. After completing the paperwork I headed back up to the desk, handed everything to her and within a few minutes was able to head back to a blood drawing room. Since nobody else was waiting I was seen before my scheduled time. By 8:30 I was done and on my way home.
Long story short, make your appointment online and hope the employees show up. Give them until 8:10 but if they don’t show call customer service. There is nothing worse than a business that isn’t open when their posted hours say they will be.
In my case the process worked exactly they way it was supposed to.

«Weekend no-​show?»
I thought patients would be the ones who would miss appointments and have no-​shows! Nope, not at this LabCorp… It is the staff here that are irresponsible. Clearly, hours (Monday through Saturday) are posted on their door and patients have been waiting since 8 am for this lab site to open on a Saturday morning! Why even accept online appointments if you’re not going to be open on a Saturday?
A son ended up calling the East 86^th Street location; he advised me that he will be taking his mother there because this location accepts walk-​ins on Saturday mornings.
I only stuck around for 30 minutes until 10 am… Time to reschedule at a different location.
