For millennia, philosophers have been developing powerful tools for facing the deepest questions of human life. In our sessions, we use these tools to empower you to think independently, live confidently and choose courageously.
Philosophy is architecture for the mind. In philosophical counseling, we approach issues of thought and feeling as an architect approaches issues of structure. By uncovering the deepest aspects of your questions, by pursuing the clearest formulations of your thoughts, and by building strong bridges toward objectivity, we create more coherence, more order and more harmony.
But, unlike architecture, if you want to enjoy the benefits of a well-designed mind, you must be your own architect. No one can do your thinking for you.
History
Established in 2006.
I grew up surrounded by architects and designers. My earliest role models were people who devoted themselves to thinking through every detail of the spaces in which we live, people whose passion was to make these spaces more coherent, more rational and more beautiful.
After teaching philosophy for many years, I felt it was important to bring the best of philosophy out of the classroom and return it to it originals home: the difficult business of living real life. This was the beginning of my private practice.

I was born and raised in New York City. I went to the midwest — Chicago — for College and stayed there for graduate school. Before returning to NYC to open my own private philosophical counseling practice, I taught philosophy at the University of Chicago, the University of Pittsburgh, and Knox College (in Galesburg, IL. One of the truest, most noble liberal arts colleges in the US, in my humble opinion. And yes, the Knox College that Stephen Colbert mentions on occasion, as having granted him his honorary DFA.) In addition to working with individual clients, I teach courses in philosophical practice for adults at NYU’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies and manage the Journal Philosophical Practice.
