Ashraf has been my hair stylist for years! She was my first trainer (I am a Master Cutter, Stylist, Colorist and Trichologist. I trust NO ONE else with my hair besides Ashraf! She has just hired a Master colorist that did my highlights yesterday after Ashraf cut my hair! All I can say is OMG! Best highlights EVERY! So if you are looking for the best of the best for Organic Color, Cut, Style, look no further! Her boutique salon is intimate, her service is VIP, her colorists are THE BEST in NYC! Reasonably priced! I saw some of the Unilocal reviews that were not nice, those where from a hair stylist that was fired.
Ashraf is a living legend! She has trained more top stylists that anyone I know. She is kind, funny, considerate and filled with passion! She is a genius. As an artist she can be moody at times, but when it comes down to it she is a loyal person with talent to make you look your VERY BEST! Once you have experienced her work you too will be enchanted by her and her boutique salon. This is the place to be! Book an appointment now while she still has an opening. My friend recommended that I go see her hairdresser Ashraf, after she saw how damaged my hair was from the horrible, constant coloring done all over the city.
Ashraf gave me a regimen of organic products to use daily and promised my hair would be restored to its natural beauty if I followed her instructions.
You can imagine I didn’t really think it would actually work!
Well 4 months after continuous use of the organic shampoo, conditioner and live in conditioner, Ashraf finally agreed that my hair was going back to normal and gave me a beautiful haircut after applying the organic keratin on my hair.
I couldn’t believe the results! My hair has never been so soft, silky and healthy as now! I highly recommend «Le Salon» if you need help with your damaged hair! They will walk you every step of the way plus
they will also treat you like family, which adds an amazing personal touch to the whole experience!

I was referred to this salon by a former colleague who knew I was researching Organic Hair Salons in New York City. She suggested I try Le Salon based on the excellent customer service + experience she received at every visit. As I reside off Central Park West, (Upper West Side), I thought it was a distance, however, I took her advice and was thoroughly happy I did.
I had the privilege to have the Proprietor/​Owner of the salon cut + color + style my hair which was beyond exceptional in customer service et al. Clearly, an expert + professional. The hair cut precision, attention to detail, expertise was — outstanding. The styling resulted in exactly as I requested. Additionally, the coloring was completed to perfection. When coloring my hair, my hair/​cuticle is exceptionally stubborn and the organic coloring was rich in color/​conditioning and texture.
Customer service: The Shampoo Attendant was very attentive, courteous and excellent head massage. Exceptional Organic product/​shampoo/​conditioner. Coffee + beverages served.
Ambiance: Calm + soothing milieu. Great music. WiFi available. Magazines.
Décor — Great Design. Beautiful Fresh flowers + Orchids. Exceptionally clean.

I went to le salon to get an organic coloring of the roots of my hair since I am pregnant and I read that non-​organic coloring might affect the baby. Vincent did a great job with it, the new color blends perfectly with the non-​organic color I had before, the result looks very natural. And with the free deep-​conditioning ( Unilocal offer), my hair have a nice shine. I am very happy with the result.

I absolutely love the salon and their organic products, my color lasts and doesn’t get brassy. Vincent the colorist is very knowledgeable about the products he uses.
Ashraf recommended the shampoo I should use and my hair looks so much better. She makes sure everyone is comfortable. I would recommend this salon

Ashraf is a genius. Great haircuts, as good as at the «top» salons for much less $$. Fabulous keratin treatments which are not harsh and they last a long time. My hair has been rehabilitatedand everyone asks me where I go for hair! Recommended highly.

got organic keratin done from here a few days ago and I’m super pleased with it. the main lady of the salon is really funny, nice and caring.

I have been going to Marina to color my hair for a while but the last couple of times I went it was such a disappointment :(I had photos of the exact color and highlights I wanted but it came out looking like nothing like what I had showed and asked for. I went 2 more times to Marina because I kept thinking she’ll get it right this time. Unfortunately for me it was a $ 300 dollar loss down the toilet each time. Honestly, if I’m paying that much and can achieve the same look from an ammonia free box of color at the whole foods then we got problems. This salon is meant for the elderly. They don’t know how to do cutting edge looks or color. So if your looking for a celeb color or style this is not your place. If you want a plane jane single process then you may get lucky and end up with the color you asked for. or not. So now I’m in search of a new colorist that uses the same organic color line who has an eye for trendy color and style. If anyone has any recommendations please feel free to drop me a line! Good for Keratin and Coloring– I would not say they specialize in haircuts. Clear your calendar cause this place requires multiple appointments.

Marina is a genius. She transformed my OK red hair to a really beautiful, rich and textured red & honey masterpiece. I had grown accustomed to only being able to afford single process (because I get it done every 6 – 8 weeks) and thinking I couldn’t spring for highlights on top of all of that.
She talked me through how she could create a more layered, rich look by adding reddish/​honey highlights on top of the grey cover-​ups. On top of it looking incredible, the cost is affordable (nearly $ 100 less than I would have paid at my old place in Flatiron) and the products are organic. My hair comes away feeling fresh, conditioned and much healthier than it did with the non-​organic products.
The salon itself is tiny and not much to talk about, but it’s worth hoofing to Tudor City for Marina. She’s incredible and I recommend every red head to trying to kick it up a notch give her a try.

For most of my life I’ve always done my hair in Bronx salons, since that’s where I’m from. I came to Le Salon after my boss recommended me to go as I was looking to get my hair colored. I went in with a brassy brown/​red hair and left with a light blonde/​brown, which I really like. I didn’t know what to expect but I was welcomed by a very friendly Ashraf and a nice atmosphere. I love that everything is so clean and in order. I’m used to loud salons that need a good cleaning but was pleased at how quiet the workers are. Vincent, who did my hair, was very friendly and eccentric. He took time to listen to my hair concerns and find out what color I was thinking of getting. He explained all the products to me and made me feel at ease. They also offered me drinks. In addition, the washing station has a massage chair which I definitely enjoyed. Even though Ashraf recommended I buy the products more than once, I don’t think she was being pushy. I just think she was really trying to help me out since when I walked in my hair looked like hell, very dry. She even gave me a hug when I left. The best part about this salon is that it is organic. I’m used to dying my hair and it being itchy in the process or smelling like chemicals. Le Salon products actually smell good and do not irritate my scalp at all, which I love. I’m thinking of making this my new go to spot for my hair.

Vincent colored my hair and I’m very pleased with it. It feels healthy and is shinier than with other ‘regular’ hair dyes. It also doesn’t stink which is a nice bonus. Vincent is SUPER DUPER into healthy living and is really passionate about the products they use. He’ll tell you all about them and anything else you want to know (i.e. why henna’s not a good idea, etc) about hair color. I had a few photos with me (to give him an idea about the color I was going for) and he really took his time helping me select a comparable hair swatch.
The only thing about this whole «organic systems» bit is that it takes a very long time. Since I’ve been coloring my hair with Revlon/L’Oreal for years they had to do a pre-​treatment to remove toxins and prepare the hairshaft. This pre-​treatment was supposed to help my hair absorb their color products. So, step one was about an hour (you sit under the dryer with this conditioner stuff on your hair). Then step two (the actual coloring) was another hour (plus 30 minutes for application). But for some reason I was there for over three hours.
Vincent did say that if I didn’t put anymore Revlon/L’Oreal on my hair that I wouldn’t need the pre-​treatment next time so it’d be faster and less expensive (the pre-​treatment adds $ 40 to the price, it’s only $ 85 for straight up single processing, PLUS TAX AND TIP).
I should say too that Vincent did say their hair dye is «the least toxic» you can get. So obviously it’s still got some bad stuff in it. When it was on my head it was super «tingly» (I don’t want to say that it was burning, but it felt weird, and not in a good way).
Vincent himself is a character, but very nice and very into being a colorist.
I have to say, I was apprehensive about trying this place with all the bad reviews about the owner. Okay, so she’s a bit of an odd bird. Sort of an eccentric, older French salon chick. She’s very «spirited» in how she speaks and I can see where one might call her «pushy». But it’s your hair, so speak up and don’t let her do something you don’t want her too. All the ladies she worked on (while I was there) were older and sort of all had the same hair (straight/​NY mom/​grandma mom-​ish bob), upper east side types of ladies, if you know what I mean (the kind that spend $ 600 on boots). So if that’s you, then check her out for a haircut.
Maybe I have more compassion for her because since I was there for such a long time and I saw how her customers’ comfort seemed very important to her (she even refused a tip from someone which I thought was pretty nuts). She really seemed to want to make everyone’s experience a positive one (i.e. she put a pillow under my feet as I sat under the dryer and I wasn’t even her client). She’s like an eccentric French grandma.
If you want non-​toxic hair dying products, check this place out. She did say the whole product line actually helps your hair grow (they have a few previously almost-​bald customers), which isn’t really a priority for me, but sounds like a nice idea. She said she considers the salon a ‘hospital for hair’, which I thought was kind of sweet.
P. S. One of the customers had her dog on her lap the whole time I was there, which I think is always a sign of a good salon. ;)

I had great results with the product! But the owner – as you have read is off her rocker, and I am a person accepting of all types. But thank goodness I called the organics company (888) 213‑4744) to see who else uses this line of product… now I still have awesome hair – and don’t have to deal with a crazy person!

Great haircuts in a great space. The hair dressers are responsive to my wishes (I’ve been to stylists and barbers who give you the cut THEY want. Not the one you want). Prices are reasonable and all products are eco-​friendly

I found Le Salon after searching online for a NYC salon that uses organic hair color. It’s right in midtown so I decided to give it a try. So glad I did!
I love Le Salon and here are some of the reasons why:
* The organic hair color doesn’t irritate your scalp like chemical hair colors. It actually feels soothing.
* My color is so beautiful! (Thank you Vincent)
* My hair feels silky and healthy like a child’s hair — not like colored hair
* My haircut by Ashraf is fantastic! Everyone in my office commented on it — even the programmers — so unusual :)
* The prices are really reasonable
* The hair rinse chair is a massage chair
* There is no chemical smell in the salon
* The wine that they offer is actually really good :)
* The hair products they sell are organic, gentle, work great and last for a long time (I haven’t used up the products that I bought in September.)
* It’s a small, beautifully designed, calm and comfortable space.

Let me start off by telling you that I am a very low maintenence person so when things go slightly wrong, I don’t usually complain. No big deal. I’m pretty laid back so you know this had to have been a pretty bad experience for me to give them one star.
I would never go back to this place. They messed up my hair and made me pay for it anyway and sent me out the door in tears. I wouldn’t be so angry if they hadn’t made me pay for it. They wanted to fix the bad color by offering me a free haircut. Logical? I think not. I told them I didn’t want a haircut and she basically made me feel awful about the ends of my hair and bullied me into the chair. I have never met someone so pushy – and I have met a lot of people in New York. Then, she cut my hair way too short. I specifically told her not to take more than an inch off and she took off about four. I asked her to stop in the middle of the cut because it kept getting shorter and shorter. She said she would only take a little more off and that she HAD to because it was dead.
PS — All hair is dead protein.
The other people who work there are very nice and actually try to preserve a high level of customer satisfaction, but the lady with the white hair (she never actually introduced herself) is the one to watch out for.

I’m keeping the same amount of stars, but the second time I went back, to finish my highlights, they were much nicer. It was in the middle of the day, and pretty empty, so maybe they had more time to be less frazzled. They again, offered me tea and the latest magazines, and I really do like the way my highlights turned out… Rada, the one who performed my highlights, definitely does know what color highlights suit different hair types/​shades.

I’ve been here twice and loved the treatment I was given. It’s a very relaxing and cosy atmosphere, and I loved my cut and style. I was never pressured into buying anything prior to my appointment. My experience was pretty good, and it’s a nice, elegant atmosphere. Another plus: it’s never crowded. She usually books 1 person at a time.

I’ve been to so many salons and have never gone back because my hair cut sucks, they didn’t know how to blow dry my curly hair or my highlights and color looked orange, really chunky and unnatural.
I went to Le Salon and I have to admit; I love this place!
It’s very relaxing and fun. I have always felt that conversations were pressured at other places; at Le Salon it just naturally pours. :)
They definitely take care of you by offering coffee, waters, teas and wines.
They have even bought me Lunch and dessert because I was going to be there a while for my highlights, Brazilian Keratin Treatment, cut and style!

Ashraf gave me an amazing hair cut and Marina works wonders with coloring.
They really listen to what you want, recommend what is best and deliver exceptional style. I am growing my hair long and it’s been 4 months since I last went there and it looks so healthy as if I just got my hair trimmed a week ago, which is great considering in the last year I’ve been going there my hair has grown a healthy and strong 7 – 8 inches and the cut and highlights are growing out beautifully!
For once it doesn’t feel like straw, is shiny and super soft and I’m loving the cut!
Everyone (friends, family and strangers on the street) stop me to ask me where I get my hair done.
Yeah, you have to buy their products but seriously, I have tried all sorts from Redken, to Paul Mitchell, Matrix… You name it I’ve tried it and have never been happy with the way my hair turned out. Their products last forever if you use it precisely as directed; they even show you how to use it and work the new look and best of all it’s good for the environment.
I will never use another product and won’t be going anywhere else.
I love Le Salon and will recommend it to everyone I meet!

I’ve been to this salon twice and while the services are top notch, be aware of the owner, she’s a little looney. They use the best organic products, but neglect to tell you you need to buy their organic products before they start on your hair, which is pretty deceiving.
