Linda’s Bra Salon

Was very disappointed! We have been to Linda’s before– when it was a tiny place. This time I brought two young women. We had two appointments. We were on time. The salesperson was very abrupt– bordering on condescending. She showed each of the girls only 3 bras to choose from. I wanted to buy them each a set and have them create wish lists especially since one of them is getting married. They each picked one. When one of the girls asked to put the bra she bought and one more on a wish list, the sales lady informed her that the bras she showed her were being discontinued so she couldn’t put it on the wish list but she offered no alternatives. She seemed like she just didn’t want to help her. The other young lady, the bride, was so rushed, she picked just one and then the sales lady took the bras away. When we told the woman at the register that she wanted to relook at the others, she just shrugged. The whole appointment for two women including check out was 12 minutes long!, The store was empty. Sad! The store really lost out. We were hoping to buy things off the bride’s wish list for the shower. (BTW– I called the store to see if there was a difference between the bridal fitting and regular and they said not really) This was not the kind of experience you expect from a small store. We would have had a better experience in a department store. Will be looking for a new bra store in NYC

Very very disappointed in my fitting today at Linda’s. Woman helping me was lovely as was the actual store but that is where it ended.
I got introduced to Linda’s UES store a few years back and was very impressed then, with their inventory. They were a tiny whole in the wall place but with a big heart. They introduced me to a few new brands that I have worn since.
Now their new and large and only store in Manhattan no longer carries the brands they introduced me to and frankly had nothing to offer me. Old lady styles and a brand I bought a few years back that ripped the first time I wore it.
It should be noted that when I made the appointment I specifically said the approximate size I needed to make sure they would have choices.
Linda’s might have started out trying to fit all sizes but they have changed.

Worried bra that the fitter selected was not my size as it was size smaller than I’ve always worn but fitter insisted size was correct. Seemed fine in the store so purchased but after a week of wearing a painful sore developed in front where the underwire dug in and another on my back where the fastener dug in. Can’t believe this is professional knowledgeable bra shop. Not only were there very few style selections more importantly what I purchased was definitely incorrectly sized and fitted. I am so disappointed after all the great reviews, and a very expensive disappointment too. Fitters here need to be more knowledgeable to be true to owners mission statement that bras should not hurt.

I chose this shop because it was near my office and was very disappointed. Both bras I bought are not good, one offers little support, the other really doesn’t fit properly. I felt like I was being bullied into accepting what was offered and when I was waiting to pay, another woman was arguing with a sales person that the bra she was being encouraged to buy was uncomfortable, the sales person insisted it wouldn’t be once she «got used to it». It’s back to the Town shop for me. It will take a little more effort, but at least I will be well served.

Had a horrible experience here while looking for a swimsuit to take on a last-​minute vacation. Bear with me, because it’s so bad it’s funny:
— Made a 30 minute fitting appointment online the day before. They had no record of it when I came in, which made for an awkward first conversation (though, to their credit, they did honor the appointment)
— After a very cursory fitting, the saleswoman showed me five bikini tops. After I tried them all on and asked to see the bottoms, she tells me that they don’t have any in stock! So why show me them in the first place?! #annoyed
— When I asked to see what styles they have in stock with both tops AND bottoms, the saleswoman says she has other customers and if I want to see styles I should go in the back «at my own risk» and look for them myself!!! Okay, I’m pretty mad at this point but I have no other choice so I go to their warehouse-​like back room, get on a rickety ladder, stand on my tippy toes to get to my sizes on the top shelf, and finally find some bikinis which she says have bottoms
— When I ask to see the bottoms in a few sizes, she says that she’ll only show me one size because otherwise that it’ll take too long and other people are waiting! I’m seething because this is a 30-​minute appointment and we still have 20 minutes left at this point!
— Fast forward to finally finding a bikini that looks pretty cute on me — the saleswoman brings me two bottoms for them but says that one has already been bought by someone else online and I can’t have it — ARG!!! Okay, fine, I still have to have a complete bikini so I take the slightly worse-​fitting bottom that no one has bought yet. This is starting to feel surreal, but the lady tells me that at least the bikini is on sale for 50% off.
— So I take my bikini to the register and another woman rings it up… can you guess? AT FULL PRICE. And she refuses to honor the sale price because «we’re a different system than online which has a sale. So this bikini has been discontinued which is why it’s on sale online but will never be on sale in the store. I’m SO sorry but there’s nothing I can do.»
— I want to scream at this point, but I don’t. I take a deep breath and ask to speak to the original sales lady that told me the bikini was on sale. The register lady tells me that I can wait for her (indefinitely) or call customer service and ask them for a refund AFTER I pay full price #thatsnotevenlogic
— Fast forward ten minutes of waiting later and the original sales woman comes out for another customer. I ask her to honor her sale price and — to her credit — she does. Finally, we’re ready to be rung up! But no — it’s surely not going to be that easy. Register lady asks me for all sorts of personal info that after the above experience I’d rather not give this establishment — but «we can’t check you out unless you have a full file with us.» #getmeoutofhere
So with my ego bruised, I did get my bikini DESPITE the associates at Linda’s. But what horrible customer service — even for NYC!!! Linda, please re-​train your staff!!!
PS ****Bra Tenders in Midtown blows this place out of the water **** better selection of «everyday» bras, fitters who know what they’re doing and listen to your needs, and an intimate setting with a dressing room full of funny autographs and cartoons!!! They have a really limited swimsuit selection, otherwise I’d have gone to them in the first place

I absolutely love this place! I was told that Linda’s was a great place to purchase bras over a DD cup so I had to check it out for myself. As I was told, I booked an appointment and was fitted by Sindey. She was very nice, professional, and knew the inventory very well. I explained to her what I was looking for and she pulled for me many bras of my preference and price point. I even purchased a swimsuit and shape wear! I had a great time at Linda’s and will be inviting all of my friends.

I made an appointment and arrived early. The atmosphere is lovely – clean, bright and intimate. Angela took me in for a fitting, gave me several bras to try on and made sure I understood how to get a proper fit. I purchased two bras and I look like I lost 5 pounds – maybe even 10 pounds – that’s how much of a difference I see. I look younger (a good bra provides a youthful contour, I feel more attractive and my back feels better). The bras are expensive, but the results are fantastic, especially if you have a full figure. I hope Linda creates a bra club with incentives or discounts. Definitely a great experience.

I needed a strapless bra immediately for a wedding the following day. I had no trouble getting an appointment and Angela found me the perfect one on the first try. I will be back.

I nearly cancelled my appointment after reading some of the negative comments here. I am so glad I kept it! I had a 100% positive experience. The shop is lovely and Jenny was an ultimate professional. efficient, personable, and knowledgeable. As seems common, I had been wearing the wrong bra my entire life. Jenny measured me, listened to what I wanted, and then brought great fitting bras for me to choose from. I left with 3, and would definitely shop at Linda’s again.

Update: I was given a refund for the missing bra that never arrived to me. I am hoping for a better shopping experience the next time I shop here. I’ll keep this post updated.

What a wonderful place! I was instantly greeted by the lovely woman at the desk and then taken back for my swim suit fitting. I have never had a swim suit fit me the way it should… until now! Tara brought back so many amazing styles and sizes for me to try! I even got two cute bras that also fit like a glove! Don’t wait to try Linda’s! You are worth it!

I was a loyal customer for 4+ years. Not only did I exclusively buy my lingerie and bathing suits at Linda’s, I also recommended the store to more than a dozen friends and family members. In aggregate, we spent over $ 20K per year at Linda’s.
My loyalty ended last week when the staff disrespected me and made a bad business decision. They altered one of my bras, which they had done dozens of times before. However, this time, they took off 3 inches (more than they normally take off) and the altered bra didn’t fit. I went to the store to return the bra for a store credit. I figured it’d be no issue since: 1) I am a loyal customer who brings in a lot of business and 2) they were the ones who made the mistake.
The manager of the store was very rude and refused to take back the $ 99 bra. Her rationale was that they can’t resell it, so it’d be a $ 99 loss for them. The decision she was faced with: take the bra back and keep the customer happy but lose $ 99 — or the alternative. What is the alternative? My roommates and I gathered $ 700 worth of unworn, un-​altered merchandise that we will be returning. Sure, they could resell the returned merchandise, but it’s not guaranteed revenue. I also sent an email to everyone I’ve ever sent to Linda’s and advised them not to shop there again. Everyone responded with disgust and will no longer be giving Linda’s their business. That’s $ 20K/​year that Linda’s will have to make-​up elsewhere. Sure, they could replace my friends’ business, but with all the lingerie shops in NYC, it’s hard to find loyal customers.
Now that you know the situation, let’s go back to business 101. The store manager was faced with losing $ 99 on my altered bra or losing $ 20K/​year of loyal customer revenue plus $ 700 worth of returns. She made a terrible business decision. I don’t want to do business with anyone who doesn’t know how to run a business or how to respect customers.
By the way, Linda’s had to shut down their UES location, and now I understand why. Learn to respect loyal customers and make good business decisions and maybe your Murray Hill store won’t suffer the same fate.

Wanted to gives huge shout out to the best BRA store in NYC! Believe me guys it’s been such a long time since I found people who know how to fit you. Linda and her staff were the best– I had fabulous fitting first with Jenny who took my measurements and truly listened to me. She took her time and I walked out with two fabulous inexpensive bras. I had been going to the awful bra store called intimacy on Madison Ave! They are the worst and awful gutters an they try to talk you into stuff. Linda’s staff did not do that. Prices are great too!
Don’t listen to crazy tellers with bad reviews. Thus UES chick says they are number 1! Recently went to Bloomingdales and they were do bad. Btw the assortment is huge here and they have bathing suits, underwear and tons of other stuff. It’s so worth the trip to 37^th and third avenue.
Btw most important ladies is that are well known for post mastectomy bras and fitting. I just had lung cancer surgery and I would never make you go somewhere that you won’t be totally happy and pleased. Memorial hospital sends tons of folks here. Why? Because they are superb at what they do!
I’m so pleased with my purchase. Newbies get ten dollars off and I’m do happy about that.
So all you gals who are hard to fit like me and even those that want their boobies to look wonderful call and make an appt for a fitting. You’ll be soooo happy. I’m Robin from the ues and tell them I sent ya!

Thoroughly regret having spent money supporting this business in the past.
One time several years ago at the old Lexington Avenue store I had a really great salesperson who found me tons of cute bras (fun colors, thin straps, not grandma-​style) in my large cup size, and I thought this store was great.
It is not great. Subsequent visits have not been as fruitful, and it’s incredibly frustrating to not be able to just go *look* at the stock to see if there’s anything matching my aesthetic when what the salesperson brings doesn’t match up with what I’m trying to communicate about what I want.
And now, on top of that, there’s a $ 25 fitting charge if you don’t make a purchase. Since I’m on their email list as a prior customer, I saw a cute swimsuit that I wanted to go try on and possibly buy, but when I tried to schedule an appointment I learned that if by some chance it didn’t fit, I would be charged what feels like a $ 25 penalty fee.

Really nice staff once you get past the two bored girls at the front desk. I was able to purchase a bathing suit quite quickly and although the selection in my size was small, they did have a suit that worked. I ended up walking out mission accomplished.

Have been here twice. Never going back.
The first time, I had an okay fitter/​saleswoman. She had bad breath, but she sold me a bra and it fitted and that was fine.
I couldn’t understand what all the hype was about; the service seemed just ordinary. But I was willing to come back a year later.
Well. Things had changed. Now there was a fee for the fitting if you didn’t buy, but rather more to the point, the fitter just couldn’t keep her hands off me. It was one of those things where the first time it happens, you think «That did not just happen.» The second time, you realize it did. The eighth time, you finally say something.
I am not attractive. I don’t for a moment imagine that this woman was attracted to me. Instead, all the stroking and petting and rubbing her own breasts against me seemed to be part of a very hard sell. Unlike the woman last year, she wanted me to buy a LOT of bras and she brought me much more expensive items than the specific item I had asked for. When I said I didn’t want them, she pouted and looked all hurt.
Whatever.
Since I came there to buy a bra rather than to be groped, I finally said something. At that point she became all business and brought me the item I had asked for in the first place. By then I would have bought anything just to get out of there, so I took it, paid, and made my escape.
Never going back.

I’ve been so many specialty bra fitters, but Linda’s takes the cake! I didn’t make an appointment, but I recommend doing so as you can only try on once you get a fitting. Sometimes I feel like my bra size doesn’t exist so I was ecstatic when I found out that Linda’s offers alterations. Yes, alterations on bras! In under a week I had a bra that fit me so perfectly I could hardly feel it. I’m never bra shopping anywhere else.

I absolutely love this place! I walked in, described the 3 types that I wanted, and the woman who helped me kind of just looked at me, measured a little and then brought me 3 absolutely perfect bras!!! So happy and thrilled to have found my new go-​to place when it comes to bras and bikinis!!!

I had been looking forward to my appointment at Linda’s for several weeks, after hearing great things from friends over the years.
Sadly, I had a very disappointing experience. When I entered the dressing room, I was not asked anything about what I was looking for — style, color, price point, etc. The fitter measured my band size only and then left.
After bringing back a few bras to try on for size, I let her know what I was looking for primarily — a simple black, smooth bra with no lace. She left again, coming back with several other black lace bras and even a red padded bra. I reiterated I didn’t want any lace, and she assured me it «would not show through,» although I tried it on with a thin shirt I had brought for this purpose, and it did in fact show. All this aside, not one of the bras I tried on fit properly.
She came back with additional bras, again with lace. At this point, I got dressed to leave as it was clear what I needed was not being addressed. When she returned (which was delayed as she was helping other customers), I let her know again I didn’t want any bras with lace; she told me the store doesn’t carry plain bras and this was what was available.
If you know your size and what you’d like to buy, I’m sure Linda’s can probably serve some purpose for you, but as I had made a fitting appointment, I expected more attention paid to the sole purpose of my visit.
I emailed customer service directly about this experience the day it happened, and my email went unanswered. IIf you’re looking for a helpful and personalized experience, this is not it.

UPDATE: Linda, I should say I appreciate you contacting me and the concern you express. If any of your staff had acted with the same caring or concern that I was having trouble I would not have posted this review. The fitter seemed indifferent, and the front desk person offered no apology. If I treated my customers that way I’d be out of a job. I maintain that if someone calls and says they need a suit badly, you as a merchant should let them know that stock is limited. Your own fitter said: We have a selection, but only a few suits in each size. Had I known that before getting there, I would have canceled the appointment.
Call ahead, made appt-​asked specifically about swimsuits in my larger size, was told there were options. Got there & there were literally 4 suits in my size. No help from staff after rejecting these-​had to dig thru sales racks myself. No sensitivity or apology for the misrepresentation. «We do our best to predict stock» I called yesterday, I said. «we do out best.» Pathetic.
