Lotos Club

Great club. Food is solid here. Girlfriend loved it.

An incredible treat to be invited to this lofty, utterly charming, elegant club. We loved every minute– esp. The Grill. Staff and service were top drawer.

The Lotos Club retains Samuel Clemens’ moniker as the «Ace of Clubs,» in my estimation, at least. Fortunately through a reciprocal club affiliation, we were able to stay three nights at the property and dine on two separate occasions in the famed basement Grill Room. We took staff member’s Jason’s hearty suggestion of the crab cakes to heart, and were not disappointed. The cuisine on both nights was very exciting — at this particular time, we were invited to enjoy dishes in the Italian/​Venetian style. The risotto with shrimp scampi was exemplary — but the star of each evening was the close quarters of the historic Grill Room and all of its framed remembrances of past State Dinners recognizing people of great works and repute.

Perhaps the best food at a wedding I’ve ever had. Not only was the food great, but there was a lot, 5 courses. The staff was fantastic too; whenever anything was wanted or desired, it was done very quicly and professionally.
It was certainly a beautiful wedding; with very interesting décor and ambiance. Overall, between the service, the food, and the staff it was a wonderful experience that I was happy to be a part of.

Who knew private clubs were snooty?
My fiancé and I were highly interested in a wedding at the club. She spoke with Heather the special events planner and she was able to fit us in at a time that worked for us both. Prior to the venue visit Heather cautioned us to not wear jeans or sneakers as there was a «dress code» at the club. Not a problem. When we arrived at the club we were asked to wait in the lounge, which we did for almost an hour. All of a sudden a guy walks up to us asks us who we were waiting for and then tells me I have to move to another room as the club had a dress code. I was wearing dress pants, shoes and a polo! The worst part was that he ushered me away from my fiancé leaving her alone in the room by herself. I don’t know about you but I don’t appreciate the «help» making me feel inferior when we were planning on spending plenty of money there (NY weddings are not cheap). How could we proceed and plan an event with the fear that our guests could be treated this poorly. I got my coat and left. My fiancé stayed and took a quick tour with Heather, who was MORTIFIED that this happened. She literally had no words! It was pretty clear that no ambiance or history could make up for that kind of treatment. The only plus was that Heather seemed like a nice person. What is most outrageous is that you have to know a member (which we did) to be in the club so it just give a you an idea how they will treat your friends and family if you become a member here. I guess the stodgy old people don’t mind it, but we will take our business elsewhere.

Fantastic, all around.
I came here for an event and the place was magnificent– I felt as if Mark Twain was actually going to walk up to me any minute as I walked through the library with my adult beverage.
I would say that this is my favorite event place in the city thus far. It is just so classic, so beautiful, and so swanky, from the woodworkings on the railing to the colors in the rugs. Not a detail is missed.
The bartenders are phenomenal, and the hors d’oeuvres are little bites of heaven. Also, our event went a little late, but the servers and bartenders were understanding about it and we all squeezed that extra glass and extra crab cake out of it.
I would love to come back, and hope that I do!

This beautifully ornate private social club impressed me not only with their friendly staff but also their great food and service.
I was there for a private function and had drinks, hors d’oeuvres and dinner there. All was very tasty and the service was excellent.

This beautiful building gives off a wow factor when stepping inside and the kitchen serves Michelin-​star-​quality food with a great wine selection to boot. Excellent service is to be expected. This is definitely a great place to entertain guests in an intimate setting.

This members only club is one of my favorite in the city. The food is actually incredible, and obviously the service is up to par.
Great wine list and a lot of fun if you’re with your grandparents.

This members only club is quite impressive. The food, wine and service were top of the line. I thank my uncles for the treat of taking me there. I cant wait to get back to NYC to hopefully get another invitation to dine at here.

This is an exclusive, private, members only club, housed in a Vanderbilt family mansion near the corner of East 66^th Street and 5^th Avenue on the Upper East Side. The Lotos Club has many notable members, including former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Walter Cronkite, Paul Volcker, Ed Koch and many others.
The staff is warm and helpful, and not the least bit pretentious. The food in either the Tennyson Room (the formal dining room on the ground floor) or the Grill (the clubby, downstairs dining room) is excellent. There is a superb wine list. There are sleeping rooms available for members, their guests, and members of reciprocal clubs.
If you receive an invitation to attend a function at the Lotos Club, do it!
