I have worked in seafood for the longest time and this place makes me Feel like a kid in a candy store. The smoked oysters are amazing, the wine is great(alittle Over priced), not impressed with the octopus, oily with no flavor. But the one thing I think that is lacking from This place is warm food. Everything is canned Or cold, and honestly it’s still Good, but because things are canned there Is salt, and Cold salted things all Come To end quickly. I entirely suggest this place as apps and drinks, as entrees or For a meal, no no

Only came here to buy a can of coke since there was no line. $ 3.27 for a can of coke — now I see why it is always empty in Urbanspace.

Well it’s about time someone opened up a tinned seafood bar in NYC. I’ve been dying to try out high-end tins since I was introduced to them by Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations( ). It seems like most of the reviewers here are missing the point. I’m sure the sandwiches are ok, but they are going to be pricey because the tinned fish is expensive, even locally in Spain. That’s because only the freshest, best mussels, sardines, squid, oysters, etc., bathed in only the best olive oil, vinegar, spices, garlic, etc., are tinned. Why adulterate such wonderful treats by loading them into a baguette? All you need is a toothpick, some hot sauce, aioli, and an open tin. Oh, and a great beer or wine. It’s simple perfection, and what you should be having here.

Located in bona fide Urbanpsace Vanderbilt Maybe is not cheap, but it is a tasty and artisanal sandwich, with egg and bacon. A great option. Original, centric, in the epicenter of Midtown, half block away from JP Morgan. In that area was needed that concept, a food court. In some you can have a glass of wine.

Their $ 12 recommended sardine sandwich was quite delicious, but sized like an amuse bouché. Left me hungry and want of a substantive lunch.

Excellent WHITEFISHSALAD on yummy, fresh bread… Really delicious. $ 11 +tax. Friendly service. Sat at their counter seating area. Sandwich came w/bag of chips. I will definitely be back to try more from the menu. Am told«I must try the sardines»…& so I shall… soon! See photos of my yummy good whitefish salad.

This Maiden Lane is a food counter in the Urbanspace Vanderbilt food hall. We were looking for something unusual around Grand Central and loved the idea of a bar focused on serving tinned seafood. We are already great fans of tinned seafood(having spent time in and around the Baltics), so we know how well drinks — especially beer(and chilled clear liquors like vodka and Aquavit, which are sadly not on offer here) go with varieties of preserved, salty fishy products. We ordered beers and two tins — cod liver and smoked oysters. The tin comes opened on a platter with a fair portion of sliced baguette, a pile of sea salt, a pile of salted, oiled parsley, and some very buttery mild garlic aioli. The platter was nicely arranged and both were really tasty. If you haven’t tried cod liver on bread, you don’t know what you’re missing. It is the foie gras of the sea. We were there during post-work Friday happy hour. The counter was busy, but we were the only ones eating the tins(others drank wine and beer and ordered olives). One man bought a tin to go. Tinned seafood is probably still not a hot idea for the young, after-work crowd. The huge drawback here is the chairs — worst bar chairs I’ve ever had the displeasure of sitting on(I stood up instead). They don’t work with this counter. Cynical part of me wondered whether they were chosen to encourage turnover. Don’t feed my cynicism — rethink these chairs, and maybe we’ll be back for some more cod liver.

Not amused by charging me $ 10 for a «Nicoise Salad» that consisted of some(attractive) purple potato, a few leaves of romaine, and a hard-boiled egg. I don’t expect sushi-grade tuna for $ 10, but what they served me was an irritating rip-off. Thumbs down.

Enjoyed my sandwich here. It was a whitefish salad on baguette. It had some capers and dill, cucumber and pickled onions. It was a great balance of flavors, the saltiness of the whitefish salad, the chewy baguette, the sharpness of the capers and dill. Has a good selection of beers as well. Seems like they are known for their tinned seafood. May check it out next time.
