Stopped in for a quick shape up. I’ve been there a few times before and always left very happy with the friendly service and attention to detail. I had a new barber today named Mike, who was efficient, clean, and left me with a warm handshake. I would recommend this place to anyone. They really hire terrific barbers.

Moved to new york from Scotland 3 years ago, for first year i couldnt find anywhere that gave a good haircut consistently, then found these guys.
Very polite and friendly with all customers, never waiting long in line and most importantly consistently a great haircut. I have been to 3 of the guys on different occasions and they have all given me a great haircut.
I have spent 80 – 90 dollars in other places in manhattan for a much inferior haircut.
Honestly if you are looking for a good affordable and friendly shop, this is the place for you.
I think 5 star reviews are handed out too easily but based on cost, time taken and quality of cut, it has to be 5.

This is my favorite barbershop and I’ve been to many in the area since I’ve been working in Chelsea for over 5 years. Wait time is reasonable. I always get an exceptional cut and shave. I went here to get my hair done for my wedding day and couldn’t be more pleased. I usually call when I’m on my way to give my barber a heads up.

Barber did not seem to care much. He was on the phone the entire time I was on his chair which did not make communications easier. The trimmers were full of hair from the previous unlucky guest, and obviously not cleaned, let alone disenfected. He also threw a fit at the end when I asked to hold a mirror for the neck cut. 2 stars for getting my hair shorter.

Being that I spend more than a few weekends up in NYC these days, it’s important to have a good dependable barber shop to count on. Looking around, I found Manhattan Barber Shop on Unilocal.It hasn’t disappointed yet, I like these guys.
I’ve hit MBS on and around their opening time of 9am on Saturdays and there has been little to no wait each time. The line, if any, moves efficiently. I’ve been in three different chairs here and each one of the guys did a great job. It’s a no-​nonsense classic barber shop experience. Hot towels, warm shaving cream, straight edge razor shaves/cuts…it’s all there. Every one has done a great job, very thorough and detailed without taking forever to do it. There is good interaction with your barber without being «over-​talkative» and I like that. Also of note is I see a lot of dads take their young sons to MBS and trust them to give their kids a great haircut experience… I think that says a lot for these guys. Prices are definitely reasonable for this area, no qualms with charges for a great haircut here. I am pleased with the outcome each time, and that’s the name of the game.
Bottom line: Good find with a classic barber shop experience at Manhattan Barber Shop. Good attention to detail, minimal wait, and great outcomes. They have become my regular NYC barber shop stop, I am a fan!

Way over priced even for Manhattan. I got a hair cut (number 3 with clippers) and neck shave which cost $ 47 and the line of my beard wasn’t even straight. Id rather buy a set of clippers and cut my own hair and shave my own face than spend $ 47 on another hair cut. The haircut price is acceptable ($ 22) but if you want a shave it cost another $ 25 on top of the $ 22. Absolutely ridiculous.

I’ve been coming to Manhattan Barber Shop for about 4 years. It’s always clean and well maintained and everyone is very friendly when I walk in — think Norm from Cheers. My barber is Manny and he’s the best. I’m very particular about my hair and he always gives me a great cut. He also does a killer job on my beard and gives a great shave. He does it all!
There are a lot of barber shops in the area but honestly this one’s the best!

Went in for a just a haircut, the barber proceeded to give me a straight razor shave as well. I asked if it was included in the cut and he said «yes». Then tried to charge me for the $ 60 cut when I asked for the basic $ 30. The shave isn’t even good! Missed about 10 different spots.

I had a sub-​standard shave here. It was uncomfortable — I think the blade was a bit dull. I had little blood spots afterwards and my face was a bit uncomfortable. The guy getting his haircut before me (a severe short one the young kids like) had a nick on his head, I should have legged it as soon as I saw that. This was with the older, portly gent, perhaps the other staff there are better.
Other reviews seem pretty satisfied with the haircuts, if you’re after a shave, perhaps try elsewhere.

Great place for a haircut in NY. Relatively cheap at $ 19 before tip, (EDIT: it is now $ 22) I had Cesar in the first chair cut my hair and he did exactly what I asked him to do and even made sure the length was good before he cut it. He didn’t force any awkward conversations during my cut and got the job done perfectly.
They finish with a neck shave and hot towel which is great and isn’t done at previous places I’ve gone to for this price. Will definitely go back for another cut.

These boys really do know how to cut hair .
If you come be prepared for at least a 30 min wait but its worth it. They even throw in a little neck shave with the blade .
All for 19 bucks plus tip. cant go wrong.
