Established in 1995.

Founded by Eric Stiller in 1995, following in the footsteps of his father Dieter Stiller who was instrumental in bringing the sport of kayaking vis a vis the Klepper Brand to New York City and the United States from Europe in the 1950’s. Eric, had recently finished a 4000 mile sea kayak journey from Sydney to Darwin Australia in a Klepper Kayak was given the opportunity to bring kayaks from the showroom on Union Square to the Hudson River by the Chelsea Piers Sports Center in 1996, Since then, he and his staff have taught nearly 40,000 students how to navigate the tricky waters of New York Harbor, rewarding many with a trip to the Statue of Liberty or Circumnavigation of the Manhattan. In 2009 MKC embraced SUP (Stand UP Paddle boarding) and has moved to a new boathouse at Pier 84 (opposite the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier) where a well protected embayment allows for fast and efficient learning. MKC’s new boathouse is the most diverse and complete in the NY region.
