Manna 2 House Bakery

I was rushing to my bus so I stopped here since it was on the way. I’ve also been to another Manna bakery and figured this must be equally decent. WRONG! The good part is that a small cup of coffee and cocktail bun came out to $ 2.20. The bad part was that the cocktail bun was super greasy, and possibly from an old batch since it didn’t taste fresh. I felt like it even became soggy from all the oil and lard. I did go in at 8am so it could’ve been possible they’re selling buns from the day before, but shouldn’t bakeries discard their old products? Also, my coffee was super sweet but that could be my fault because I forgot to request no cream/​sugar.
The only reason for 2 stars is because the bakery lady smiled at me while taking my order, even though I didn’t order in Cantonese. It might not seem like much but a smile goes a long way in Chinatown!

Another review for Manna. Like other Mannas in Chinatown, it has cheap and delicious bakeries. I usually order anything with custard (especially custard bun, it’s one of the best). But for some reason, this Manna is not as busy as the others. Anyway, it still has my support.

Walked in, asked if the triangle cake was just the roll in a different shape — daughter vehemently denied, father confirmed my suspicion. Purchased it, was underwhelmed.

This bakery is my guilty pleasure when I pass it on the way to clinical.

Their baked goods are always fresh, and good selection tends to run out towards the end of the day. If you’re at this corner of Chinatown, Manna is where you get your pastries at (because seriously, all other pastry shops in that area are just NOT GOOD).

Decent bakery, average service. Iced milk tea ($ 3) with boba was too sugary. The bobas are too small to be chewy, but at least it doesn’t have too much ice. The napoleon ($ 1.25), Japanese cheesecake and chocolate Swiss rolls are good. With so many bakeries around, you can definitely find cheaper prices and better drinks.

Compared to the other three bakeries with the Manna name, this is one this is strictly a destination for the sake of convenience. It does not have fresher baked goods or a wider selection as the sister bakeries do, and it certainly doesn’t have a staff that is friendly as the others. That being said, there is one thing it has going for it. It is the fact that all the other surrounding bakeries are worse… a lot worse. Ideally, you will walk a few blocks to better options on Catherine, Bowery, or even Grand Street. But if not, Manna 2 is simply making the best with what you got.

We came for the egg tarts and they do not disappoint. Everything is fresh and made right then and there.

this place doesn’t even deserve 1 star. i ordered ice coffee this morning, asked for less sugar and milk, she nodded as if she.understood. then, when i sipped my coffee, i felt like i was sipping some syrup! thats wayyyy toooo sweetttttttt… i poured half my coffee out and added cold water and it was still too sweet. worst coffee. make sure they understand what your order is.

Their roast pork bun may be too dry and the onions may be not cooked enough but I tried their pineapple swiss rolls and have to say their cakes here are really really fresh.
This location is small and is not conducive to hanging out like I would at a café. It feels like a takeout joint meaning you walk in and order what you want and leave in a jiffy.
I go here for the convenience. Sometimes I park my car nearby so on the way back I can easily come into this bakery and get what I want quickly and go on my way.

MILK TEA: FOUR STARS.
It even comes in a nifty sturdy cup! And FYI, ask for more ice as they only put a few ice cubes.
Egg tarts and pork floss bun are pretty good compared to other bakeries, too.

I’ll admit that this is not a location I would choose to go to simply because their bakeries are rather small and never where I need it to be. With that said, you might wonder why I even bother to come here? I come here simply because the way they make there buns are exquisite. Note: I’ve only tried the pastry buns so I cannot vouch for the meat buns.
The Pineapple Buns are moist, soft and sweet which is very different from most of the Chinese bakery places that make their buns more dry. I believe the rest of the pastry buns are made the same way because I think they use the same dough.
Next time I come around here, I might try their cakes and I’ll give you all an update on that one. Stay tuned.

What’s better to have something that is nice and hot on a rainy March afternoon? I saw Manna House Bakery and decided to hop in for some Milk Tea and Coffee, just because this place looked busy.
Maybe a preconception of me that assuming Chinese style bakery would have serves HK style milk tea or coffee. but surprising the tea is from tea bag. so more like Western style tea with milk.
The mixed coffee/​tea (90cents) I ordered is really coffee with a tea bag? Maybe it is New York Style…
Manna House Bakery’s tea/​coffee is definitely NOT my cup of tea!
There are some bar stools inside the bakery if you do want to stay and enjoy your drinks and pastries, but not an enjoyable experience with customers coming in and out of the store non stop!

It was noon at the peak of the bewitching hour before the start of Intermediate Canto class on a Saturday where my vine wood and dragon heartstring core wand summoned me for a Caa1 Siu1 Baau1 叉燒包. When ordering a Caa1 Siu1 Baau1 叉燒包, the woman at the bakery counter assumed that I were going to order several dozen Caa1 Siu1 Baau1 叉燒包 for a large party. Woman, does one measly Caa1 Siu1 Baau1 叉燒包 kill your business at $ 1.90? Manna 2 House Bakery’s Caa1 Siu1 Baau1 叉燒包 contains chopped onions as the BBQ pork is very filling to the rim of the whole bun.
Fay Da Bakery’s quality of Caa1 Siu1 Baau1 叉燒包 are so much better quality Chinese buns. Personally, I prefer an equal amount of bread as well as BBQ pork in my bun. Service at Manna 2 House Bakery is just average, in addition to their limited selection of buns displayed. I like self-​service for taking as many buns of my choice and quantity to my heart’s content as Fay Da Bakery permits at a competitive price.

Manna 2 is a Chinese Bakery. The reason why I come here is because of the Kai Yim Bao (yellow custard buns). They make the juiciest, flat and not overly brown buns. They also make a great paper cake… that’s what it’s called in Chinese. Give it a try!

I’m surprised this place doesn’t have a review.
It’s been on East Broadway for YEARS.
I’m 22 and I remember my mother as a kid taking me here for coconut buns, pork buns and there blended fruit drinks.
Over the years I’ve tried other items, there little custard cakes are sooo delicious, so is the butter roll. YUMMY !!
I’m going to post a pic that I took, but they do have other items, that aren’t listed, but it’s an idea of what they have. They also sell coffee, tea, juices and soda’s.

Well this place is original in the location because you will see two other bakeries across the street from this one, but this bakery has been in the neighborhood first.
So if your waiting for your DC, Philly or Baltimore bus, just remember this place is delicious, good prices and is original :)
