Marina Gendel, DDS

Run. I am seeking help from the First District Dental Society. I believe her plan was to remove/​ruin all off my teeth and fit me with dentures or something. ALL of her work FAILED. I spent thousands which I will seek to recoup through legal channels. The last straw was when she eyeballed my tooth and said that it needed to be extracted, without the benefit of an XRAY.
She rarely used X-​Rays and missed a huge abcess and infection in one tooth during my last and final visit. I had to request the few X-​rays that she had on three separate occasions. All of her crowns, which she does in the office, developed decay and fell out. When I went to her to put the crown back, she said there was nothing to attach it to and threw it out. Literally, she threw $ 1100 in the garbage. Why did she charge me for a crown in the first place if she couldn’t attach it. I believe that her practice is bordering on criminal and that she shouldn’t be in practice.

I was going to Dr. Gendel regularly for many years. I had quite a bit of work done and I was always satisfied. Everyone in the office was very friendly and it was important to me to support female doctors. The only thing that ever bothered me was how hard she pushed Invisalign. I never had a complex about my teeth until I started going to her.
I relocated to Brooklyn last year and I switched to a dentist in my new neighborhood. Well, come to find out, all of the work she did over the years has to be redone. She had replaced several silver fillings that I’d gotten when I was a kid and my new dentist said she didn’t remove all of it properly and there’s decay underneath. They said the porcelain overlay was shoddily done and about to fall apart. I had a chip in my front tooth that she «fixed» and the new dentist said it’s awful looking.
My blood is boiling just thinking of all of the money and time I wasted with Dr. Gendel. My husband has to get thousands of dollars worth of work redone as well. It’s completely outrageous and I feel so deceived.
Please, please, please do not go to Dr. Gendel and if you’ve gotten work done there before, make sure you have another dentist check it ASAP.
Her dental practice is borderline criminal.

Dr. Gendel did my invisalign on upper and lower teeth and I am so happy with outcome.
My smile is great now and I had wrong bite where my lower teeth were covering upper. The other dentist I went to told me that it can not be fixed without braces but Dr. Gendel did it. I am so thankful for her great work.

I don’t usually do this but I felt that I had to warn anybody thinking of using Dr. Gendel. I used to be a big fan until I had some problems with my teeth and chronic pain. I don’t have great teeth to begin with and I have had many root canals and crowns — all done by Dr. Gendel. Long story short, I moved out of her neighborhood to Brooklyn and sought another dentist for convenience who told me that I have to have everything redone. I sought 2 more opinions and finally a third one today who confirmed what the other ones had told me. She did a very poor job on my root canals and they do need to be redone. Many more details about other work and I do have horror stories about her shoddy work but suffice it to say that because of her I have to have thousands of dollars of work redone at great personal expense, time and pain.

Dr. Marina Gendel office is friendly and welcoming. I have been afraid of going to the dentist for most of my life. Dr. Marina Gendel changed all that. She explained everything she was doing to me step by step, which reassured me through the process. Even the shots didn’t hurt at all. Dr. Marina Gendel fixed my front teeth, and now I am no longer ashamed to smile. I look and feel great.

I have been going to this dentist for about 10 years now, and she is fabulous. Not only does she take care of all my cavities, she’s also an excellent cosmetic dentist. She’s filled chipped teeth for both me and my brothers, and you can’t even tell which tooth any of us broke. She also is easy to get an appointment with and very flexible, works til 6 PM most days so you can always get an appointment after work. Marina is great, if you’re looking for a new dentist in NYC, I highly recommend her. Also takes most insurance!
UPDATE: Turns out Dr. Gendel did not properly clean out my cavities, resulting in decay underneath the fillings, which has now become a hellish running around to dentists for me. I doubt I will return, but I do still espouse her cosmetic dentistry talents.
