Established in 1988.

Martin Man has been serving downtown Manhattan since 1988. We offer many advancements that provide better treatment to our patients including: same day dentistry with custom CAD/​Cam Emax restorations, Zirconia bridges, Porcelain Veneers, one day root canal visits, laser gum treatment, Zoom tooth whitening, bone grafting and digital implant restorations. Dr. Martin Man began practicing in 1985, after graduating from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine.

He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, New York State Dental Association, New York County Dental Society, Pearl Network, and is a Dental Adviser.

Dr. Man co-​authored a publication on endodontic treatment and restorative dentistry with the NYU Pearl Network.

When it comes to Unilocal reviews, to each their own opinion. That said, I’ve been a patient of Dr. Martin Man for my bi-​annual preventive cleaning for over 20 years.
During those years, I can only remember two unpleasant moments. The first was an over 45-​minute wait for a previous schedule appointment. Dr. Man was late due to traffic which caused a backup of patients.
We can all agree that we’ve all been late due to traffic and shitz happens in life.
The other unpleasant moment was when one of his hygienist tortured and made me teared while cleaning my teeth. I didn’t (but should’ve) complaint and wanted to leave. Thankfully, she’s no longer working there.
My current hygienist Cynthia (for the past 7 years) has been cleaning my teeth without torturing me. She’s gentle when using those powertools to clean, scrape, pick and polish my teeth. There is still a tolerable level of discomfort but she will not make you tear up.
As for Dr. Man, I think he’s very professional and thorough in checking my teeth after each cleaning. For dental surgery and cosmetics (i.e. braces), his services will include the latest in dental technologies and treatments.
We all have a «go to» person for almost everything in life. Since I still have all of my teeth, I would recommend Dr. Man the «go to» dentist to my friends, family and other Unilocalers…

My few initial appointments with Dr. Man were a good experience. In the beginning of our doctor/​patient relationship, he informed me that he uses materials that were better and sometimes more costly than usual dental work. I didn’t pay much attention to it at that point. During my last visit I was told that I had 2 old fillings that Dr. Man could replace with these «better materials” – at $ 650 a tooth. However, he also said it would keep me from having to get a root canal. At first, I thought of going for a second opinion – however, after considering the inconvenience and extra cost that would entail, I decided just to go through with it. This afternoon (the afternoon before the morning of the treatment) I got a phone call from Dr. Man’s office that their system was down and that I needed to bring «cash.» I said I couldn’t do that. They said that they had «accommodated» me by agreeing to let me pay $ 650 tomorrow and $ 650 in 2 weeks. I resented that – this «payment plan» is not a large inconvenience to them and I certainly should be able to put services on my card. I called to cancel my appointment – the receptionist told me I would be charged a «fee.» What nerve – also – no care or questions about why I was canceling. Just a P. S.–2 of my colleagues just went to him and had a bad experience – one stuck in the chair for 40 minutes because his «computer was down» and the other had a botched up filling. STAY AWAY!!!

The equipment is up to date, the staff is knowledgeable, and Dr. Man fixed a bad filling quickly and painlessly.

I’ve been going to Dr. Man since 2007 and thought I had found a decent dentist. However, my most recent appointment has led me to look for a new dentist. Their office is a little on the dirty side, but their equipment is clean and new and so I have overlooked the office’s shabbiness. There is also a great hygienist there who has taught me a lot in my several visits with her. In fact, she is more attentive and helpful than Dr. Man. The major problem I have with this place now is that I felt rushed in my last appointment– they raised the chair while I was mid sentence. And it wasn’t as if I was asking about the weather. He had just suggested I get a tooth pulled, as a preventive measure– there is no decay yet. Additionally, the hygienist found some decay around a filling. Dr. Man didn’t even see it and I had to tell him what she found. Then he said they would have to replace the entire filling because sometimes the old composite (white) fillings don’t hold up. But the filling is a metal filling that is less than TWO years old! He put it in himself! He said he didn’t, but then checked my chart and said «Oh yeah…» The average life span of an amalgam filling (metal) is about 5 years. There’s no reason this should have started to fail so soon. Also, the hygienist asked why at 30 I have so many metal fillings. I told her because Dr. Man didn’t give me an option. Looking at other dentists’ sites, I see now that it may not have been the best. approach. To sum up, go here if you want a good hygienist and don’t have too many dental issues. But if you have fillings or need other work, go somewhere else where the dentist is more attentive.
