They changed the name and owner. Lacking in both food quality and service. Go to the original Mary Ann’s on 16th and 8th ave

To get those extra two stars, this place would have to turn down their extremely loud music so I can eat in peace. Also, the service seems to have taken a step down since the name change. Other than that, I love the food, love the margaritas, great atmosphere. Oh, the tortilla soup isn’t that good anymore either.

Background, about ½ the restaurant was full, with one large party of 8+ mostly kids. I placed a to — go order for a salad with shrimp. 15 – 20 minutes later, Im told its coming up. 40 minutes later, I walk out with no salad in hand and no one offered me a refund. I paid $ 16 to hang out at Mary Ann’s and watch people eat. A group of friends were having a get together down the block and I would have gladly left my number to pick up if anyone had told me about the long wait times. Instead, I was completely dismissed and when I told the server at the podium I had to go, all he said was«okay»

we wanted to take my cousins from Cleveland out for some good Latin-American food. originally we planned to go to Mancora, but that fell through as my niece is a picky eater, so we stumbled upon this place and they have quesadillas, which she’d eat. sadly, it didn’t register on my radar, as the Unilocal profile wasn’t updated. it’s now called Dahlia’s, and had I known I guess we might’ve gone elsewhere. the menu was lengthy and inexpensive, with a zillion options. but the overall dining experience was mediocre. service was inexplicably laggy on an early Saturday evening. oh, a table of aging, fading, desperate woo girls was there. as my cousin put it — «some strangers are going to get lucky tonight.» my platter(«the Second Avenue» — in retrospect, perhaps ordering a menu option that shares a name with a delayed subway line was not smart) was a mixed offering. the rice was kinda… crunchy. the beans were alright. the chicken taquito and the guacamole enchilada were actually pretty decent. the chile relleno was really mushy, which threw me off, but tasted okay. not fantastic, not bad, just… okay. nothing about it really compels me to make a return trip.

I had been here back in 2008 after seeing a really stupid Christmas play at a theater on Bond Street, ate bland taquitos and drank at the bar, and had a bad time at Mary Ann’s(now Dahlia’s), and forgot about the lackluster evening until this past Saturday. We were taking Mike’s Midwestern cousins around the city, and had hoped to take them to the consistently excellent Mancora but had to change our plans due to lack of salchipapas for Mike’s cousin’s daughter. Since Eva enjoys quesadillas, we opted to give this Mexican joint a chance. It was no better than it was 5.5 years ago. I may or may not return in another 5.5 years. No bueno.

Meh food, nice service that couldn’t get anything right, but plenty of available outdoor seating! Stick to the drinks, get your tacos elsewhere.

First of all, someone needs to decide what this restaurant is named and then coordinate it with social media. The outside and menu say«Dahlia’s», but the photos on Unilocal and anywhere else online say«Mary Ann’s». Had I put this puzzle together, I probably would have avoided this place, but since I didn’t… I ordered a shrimp and scallop tamale dish and was served a dark meat and a chicken tamale. Whatever the dark meat was, it was cooked horribly. I’ve never been served something so tough and dry. Side of beans and rice was incredibly BLAH. Considering we talked about the dish for a few minutes, I’m not very sure how it got so screwed up. Waiter never came back to check on us and spent his time laughing with the bartender behind the bar. His carelessness explains why my order was wrong. I was too hungry and irritated with his lack of concern for customers to say anything. So, maybe thy would have switched it out, but when you’re hungry and your waiter doesn’t care about you, you just kind of deal with it. Once he(finally!) took our plates, he took another 26 minutes to bring the bill. Still hanging out at the bar. Was he drunk? That would explain a lot. I think this is the first time I’ve gone out to eat and hated every second of it. Wait, no, the playlist was good. Old Enrique and Ja Rule.

The only reason it doesn’t get one star is because the portion was large. Though largely oil. This is not Mexican food. What on earth did I just eat? I had the shrimp enchilada and my friend had the steak It’s totally bar food. Because you’d be so drunk you’d have no idea what you just ate. Man I feel sick now :/

The best margaritas! They have lots of flavors to choose from. This place is definitely not stingy with their liquor/tequila in their margaritas. The staff too are awesome! Food choices are not bad, they make it simple but tasty. :)

Who’s Dahlia??? The sign on the window says Mary Ann but the menu says Dahlia. I’m not sure who either if those people are, but I’m sure they don’t make good Mexican food. Our«Chili Con Queso» dip was that awful canned nacho cheese stuff. Not quite as bad as you get in a movie theater but pretty close. What I ordered was called a «chili chimi» which the waiter said was grilled not fried. It was neither. It was just a bunch of beans in a tortilla with a side of the same beans and some rice. Gross! My friend’s quesadilla was tasty but lacking in cheese. The only reason they don’t get 1 star is because the service was very nice, and the margaritas very good(and strong!)

The cheese jalapenos were nothing but a soup of melted cheese with some jalapenos slices here and there. The margarita was watered down. The tacos were way over stuffed and fell apart right away, not to mention they didn’t taste that great. Just horrid.

Got the tostada avocado salad with beef; decent portion, fresh and tasty. Taking one star off for the price; $ 15+ for a salad is a bit high, but considering it’s in Tribeca, we’re probably being charged rent. Service was friendly, probably will be back again due to location proximity. Next time when I’m more hungry, I will definitely try one of the burritos.

Chicken tacos tasted like they were marinated in Clorox. Ordered a refill on chips 8 times, nothing showed up. Went next door to a deli bought my own chips, eating those now. Waiting for check. This place is awful. Our waiter was so disinterested in being a waiter he pretended to be a condiment refiller at empty tables throughout dinner. Then as we are waiting for check they have a guy measuring to replace the windows, so we had to help because our table was in the way.

I’m generally one to patronize the Chelsea location, but a gig brought me East so here I was. Pretty much everything that I expected in a satellite location. Friendly staff, monster Margaritas, general east village shenanigans. The Guacamole wasn’t as good as I remember it from the Chelsea location, but it might have just been an off day. Also nice that they now accept credit cards(used to be cash only). Serviceable Mexican in the East Village. And extra boozy if you want it to be!

This was a great restaurant. The food is really very good — especially the shrimp quesadilla.(It had whole, large shrimp and not too much cheese.) The service is fast and friendly. The location is great. If it’s nice, with all of the windows open, the place has a super-relaxed feel. And, right on the corner of 2nd, where there are a lot of restaurants, this place has some competition. I think it’s the place to try.

It was my first time here last night. They get a SOLID3 stars from me due to a numerous of issues we had. First off, when we walked in we could sit anywhere, my best friend had suggested a table … I suggested a booth so we ended switching to the booth. After getting menus, getting the server’s attention took like 10 minutes. Of course they had already served us glasses of iced water and STALL tortilla chips with AWESOME salsa. That was the first thing. We ordered both our drinks and our food together. Obviously, we knew we would get our drinks right away but didn’t think our food would take 45MINUTES. And I say this nicely, the waiter must have been super busy and not been paying us much mind because the table we had initially sat at got their food before us … WAYBEFOREUS. I took the time. I always do when I am trying out a new place to see if it’s worth coming back to. Although the drink was great, and that’s rare for me because it had beer in it and I HATE beer but something about the sweet mixtures they added to it was good. I forgot what the drink was called all I know is it what HUGE and it was $ 20, it was the«Thursday special.» Not bad. We had practically finished our HUGE drink before the food came. I was super upset and had even told my best friend; «NOTIP!» … she agreed! Although after waiting 45MINUTES for the food, ATLEAST it was nice and hot but the wait was RIDICULOUS. It wasn’t even super packed like our usual Mexican place. I was dissapointed. The«baja quesadilla» was alright … I don’t think it was worth the $ 15 though. All I tasted in the hot tortilla was chicken, cheese and pico de gallo. Only good thing on the plate was the guacamole. it wasn’t spicy and it was salty enough for me. After this encounter, sadly I wouldn’t come back … MAYBE just for drinks. NOTE: I also took into consideration when writing this review the«taquitos» my best friend ordered. Not only was the steak in them raw but the rice tasted a lot like OLD goya rice. BUMMER!

Waist of money and calories. Originally our group of 5 went for BBQ, wait was long yada yada we ended up here. It took about 15 minutes for a table. It’s not a good place for groups more than 3 or 4 so obviously they had to push some tables together. After that it took forever for the waiter to take our order. When he finally came over we ordered a pitcher of margarita AND or meals because we had already had enough time to decide. We had to order water also because no one brought it. I can’t even remember if we ever got a water refill but no one ever checked on us. The food was awful. Yes I was expecting a tex-mex situation but not this! I ordered a carne azada and the meat was thick and chunky with fat pockets making it really difficult to eat. I love steak but I couldn’t finish it. It was too difficult to eat. The beans were loaded with cheese. Just bleh. The rice was very average and couldn’t save the dish. No one else really liked their food. It was just all cheese. The margaritas were pretty average frozen mixed drinks. We had to ask for the bill because no one paid any attention to us. The waiter didn’t even offer coffee or anything else. Avoid — if you want tex-mex go to blockheads. It’s less expensive and at least fresh-ish.

Poor Mary Ann, you’re getting a lot of abuse on here. Sure, this was not my favorite restaurant of all time, and we only ended up here because Mayahuel could not seat us, but the chips and salsa were great and the margaritas were overly strong. My burrito was mediocre at best, but after a day of drinking, sustenance was really the only requirement. Is it in my list of all-time favorite restaurants? No. Have I had worse? Of course. I wouldn’t go back, not because of the food, but because there are too many options in Manhattan to double-up on a visit.

I don’t usually bother writing bad reviews but this place was so bad and so pricey for what you get. $ 10.95 for guac that tasted like it used canned avocados, if those were possible, is ridiculous. Fajitas served with raw onions and peppers was not at all what I had in mind when I placed my order. The frozen margaritas were loaded with sour mix which tasted OK at the time but gave me the worst heartburn the following morning. Never going back! way too many better options in the area to waste your time and money at this joint.
