Dr. Sonia M.

Business Owner

Dr. Sonia Massol was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She holds a Doctoral Degree of Dental Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico, School of Dentistry. She moved to New York, where she received a Post-​Graduate degree in Hospital Dentistry from Long Island College Hospital. Since then, she has been practicing dentistry in New York City working in several private practices as well as a non-​profit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of alcoholics and drug addicts.

Dr. Massol believes in staying up to date in every aspect of dentistry. She takes numerous hours of continuing education each year to stay current with new procedures, technology, and safety standards. She is certified in Invisalign, Osstem Implant Dentistry, Tip Edge Orthodontics, Bone Grafting, among others.

Dr. Massol is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association and Colegio de Cirujanos Dentistas de Puerto Rico.

Dr. Sonia Massol: Not only is she a super great dentist– but its very obvious she absolutely cares about her patients well being. My smile never looked better. I would give her 100 stars if that was possible. If anyone needs a dentist– you couldn’t make a better choice then Massol Dental.

There are not enough stars in this review or in the sky that show how great Dr. Massol is! I have been searching for 20 years for a great dentist and I have finally found one. Her office is on street level so access is easy. Her office is small, clean, and lovingly decorated. This is a small operation and when you are there, you are the only one that matters. Dr. Massol is disgustingly beautiful, on the inside and out. Coupled with her kindness, intelligence, and humor, I mean, is this a dentist or an Academy Award winning actress? Just sayin. Dr. Massol is definitely a new school kind of dentist. She is always up on the latest and greatest techniques and tools to make going to the dentist painless and easy. Dr. Massol’s prices are very reasonable too. A person like myself with average means can afford to go to the dentist and that is saying alot for NYC in 2015. On top of this, I walked into the dentist with teeth stained by years of drinking coffee and wine and I came out with a smile so bright that it blinded the sun. Massol Dental rockets to the top of my list as the Best of the Best.

My wife and I have been with Dr. Massol since 2010 and we both highly recommend her. She is an excellent dentist and also has a good bedside manner. I have never been a fan of going to the dentist (who is?) but she makes the experience enjoyable. Modern equipment and a convenient location enhance the office as well. Overall a great value and good results.

This is the best dentist I’ve ever seen, and I am picky and have seen dentists who are far more expensive and hippie and experiential/​holistic blah-​de-​blah-​de-​blah. Now that I’ve moved, I actually miss going to Dr. Massol, which sounds crazy, but it’s true. Dr. Massol was so professional, yet calming and down to earth. She explained every procedure to me with extreme patience and dealt with other dentists’ previous work without having that «ugh your last dentist (s) did EVERYTHING WRONG» mythos – the focus was on improving conditions in my mouth, not on asserting Dr. Massol’s own dental might (which is substantial).
They even developed a separate Pandora station for me to listen to (and this was, like, 2 years ago at least). This station is probably the only thing I would have improved.
I think the one negative review below, based on being late to an appointment, speaks for itself (and does remind us all about the problems of being late to appointments in general, since unfortunately doctors have other responsibilities after they are off the job) as a bit of an OD response to the frustrations of transportation in NYC, rather than the quality of dentistry in Dr. Massol’s office.

Dr. Massol is outstanding! I was in NY visiting family for the holidays and had a dry socket from wisdom teeth extraction the week before. What my oral surgeon said «would fix itself eventually» turned out to be an excruciatingly painful infection that was getting worse and worse. Dr. Massol fit me in and took such good care of me and I can’t recommend her enough. A couple specifics:
The office: absolutely state of the art. She has really comfortable, high tech chairs and everything is completely sterile and pristine.
Her assistant: Grace is the sweetest, warmest, most wonderful assistant. Along with Dr. Massol she makes you feel really comfortable and at ease.
The anesthesia: I am NOT a fan of needles to having to be numbed up makes me pretty antsy. I don’t know how she did it but I could barely feel the injection. To me, that’s a sign that Dr. Massol is both an excellent dentist and has a high level of patient empathy because she wants to make your experience as painless as possible.
3 cheers for Dr. Massol, I just wish I lived in NY so I could see her as my normal dentist! If you live here please do!

Dr. Massol-​Burris saved me from the worst tooth pain of my life! First of all, she is SO beautiful both inside and out. You can tell that she genuinely cares about your well-​being. Her dental work is impeccable.
After having a filling done by another dentist, I experienced unbearable nerve pain. I knew something had to be done. Dr. Massol graciously saw me at the last minute even with a full schedule. She immediately found the root of the problem and figured out the best solution. Right away, I felt relief and am forever thankful to her.
Greice is also a dream come true and you can tell Dr. Massol-​Burris is appreciative of her staff.
I HIGHLY recommend Massol Dental. 5 well deserved stars!!!

Dr Sonja Massol and her dental assistant Grace are wonderful. I have been seeing them for 2 years now and I can’t speak more highly of my experience. Dr Massol redid my bonding and it looks really natural. I also love our conversations when I go in. They are just really great people, and somehow they remember what was going on last time I saw them and we always pick up the conversation where we left off.
I am now moving to SF and still scheduling my cleaning for next time I visit NY. It doesn’t get much better than this office.

The best dentist in NY! I have been through so many and found my dental soul mate. She will work with you and your insurance so it doesnt break your pockets. She is knowledgable, friendly, professional, and as a hot latina easy on the eyes :) She has top of the line technology. I even get o listen to my choice of pandora station from my chair and can see xray results instantly on a tv screen monitor before my eyes. Her office assistant Grace is also great.

I wish Unilocal had more stars! Dr. Massol is the best dentist! The office is brand new, super clean and has all modern/​sophisticated technology. But what makes this the best office is the warm welcome you receive from Greice at reception and from Dr. Massol during your treatment. Feel free to develop a relationship with them — they are the nicest people you’ll meet and will make you look forward to your next visit.
I’ve recommended Dr. Massol to a number of co-​workers and family members, all of whom have gone to her and share my enthusiasm.

I bought a ZOOM teeth whitening deal on Livingsocial and was a bit weary as I never had my teeth whitened before… upon arrival all my worries were quenched. Dr. Massol was so nice, patient and extremely knowledgeable. They offered a choice of watching Friends or choosing my own music on Pandora while I waited. (extreme plus!)
For the whitening; I got the 40% strength vs. 25% and I walked out without any pain; just the slightest sensitivity. Results were subtle but definitely worth the difference. :) would definitely be my go to dentist if I lived in the area

Now that I live in NYC, I have found my Dentist!!!
Such a modern office with all the new bells and whistles, including a snazzy video monitor to show me all my x-​rays on right at the dentist chair. A young but clearly experienced dentist also made the visit very nice, definitely not your typical dentist.
I also got some great free whitening trays with my first visit. I’m already going back for a filling and looking forward to my regular bi-​annual check-​ups with my new dentist Dr. Sonia Massol.
