If you’ve always thought that make-​up instruction in the Chicago and New York city area meant sacrificing quality, it’s time to think again. Celebrity make-​up artist Amanda Shackleton realized the tremendous need for professional make-​up artistry training in Chicago, so she opened Media Make-​up Academy in 2009. Now, students can receive an education from an instructor with high-​end experience in the fashion/​print industry, without the expense of traveling to New York City or Los Angeles!

Originally from NY, I trained and worked as both a hair stylist and make-​up artist for 5 years in London. Since then I have traveled and worked extensively in cities such as Milan, Amsterdam, Sydney, Capetown, Miami and Los Angeles. I currently reside back in my home town of New York, where I work with personal clients, brides-​to-​be and magazines such as Vogue, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Modern Bride, Fitness, Shape, Oprah and many more.

I have contributed to advertising campaigns such as Levi Strauss, Canon, Polaroid, Avon, Lady Footlocker, XoXo clothing and Martha Stewart. I have also had the pleasure to work with celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Harrison Ford, Josh Hartnett, Sara Michelle Gellar, Katie Courick, Martha Stewart, Pierce Brosnan, Ricky Martin, Rosario Dawson, Javier Bardham, and Maria Conchita Alonso.
