I tried the nutella milkshake. It was good, but nothing special. It was basically a regular milkshake with a bunch of nutella chucked inside, so of course it wasn’t bad — anything with nutella has to taste somewhat good. With that said, it was so overpriced — almost $ 6 for a size small.

It’s comfort food. Any type of grilled cheese you’d ever want with some of the best tater tots. Plus they have sriracha and other types of dipping sauces but even alone that parmesan on the tater tots is heavenly. Yum. I really like the burger grilled cheese sandwich. Would like to try other sandwiches with a good beer next time.

ordered at 1:30 said it would take 45 minutes to get me. This restaurant was a 9 minute walk away from me. I called an hour later and they said with the rain it would be delayed. Another hour goes by I called to cancel my order. At 5:00PM they said they had my food ready… 3 hours later is ridiculous i had already canceled and hope to get my money back.

This location is smaller than usual, but the adjacent park provides more seating options when the weather is nice. But what really makes this Melt Shop stand out from the others is its service. Orders are taken quickly, turnaround time for food is pretty quick– and the manager runs a great operation while motivating her employees. Plus, when she noticed that my food was taking a bit longer than others, she recognized it before I even got to the counter and offered a complimentary milkshake to make up for the wait– thank you!

If you want bad service this is your spot! Order if you are full because you will be hungry by the time you get your food.

Atmosphere: –The store was small and cozy. –The music was very loud but the audio was probably cranked up that high to cover the loud vents. Service: –The staff was really friendly. After you ordered you sat down and they called you over to get your food when it was ready. –The food was ready fairy quickly. Food: –Shop Tots($ 2.95) The tater tots were delicious and crispy. There was a generous amount of Parmesan to go on all of the tater tots. A good thing about these tater tots was that they weren’t too oily which is a surprise since they’re fried. –Strawberry Hand-Spun Shake($ 5.50) The shake was made with strawberry purée and mixed with ice cream in a giant machine. It was super thick as a milkshake should be but kind of hard to drink through the straw. The milkshake was yummy but tasted artificial. My boyfriend who surprisingly never had tater tots before was amazed at the concept of tater tots so we would definitely come back to this store. We would also like to try the grilled cheese the next time as well.

Gluten Free review** I’m gunna make this really simple. Yes, they do have options like gluten free bread. No, don’t get the tots because they’re fried in the same fryer as the fried chicken, unless you want take that risk. Same goes for the shakes because of the Oreo shake. If you want tots that are fried in a specific fryer, go to the Fulton Street location. I thought I’d go to this location since its the closest to my job, but they don’t do the same thing. That’s my lesson when I came here very excited and left disappointed. *They’re not a gluten free place, but if one shop has a certain option, all shops should.*

The Melt Shop has quickly become a guilty pleasure. I work on 25th and was looking for a quick bite before going home when I came across The Melt Shop on Unilocal. My first time there, I got the Shop Tots and the Shrooms sandwich. You can never go wrong with tots, but the goat cheese and havarti combo on my grilled mushroom sandwich sold me on The Shop. The second time I came in, I had the Fried Chicken sandwich. I was a little hesitant when it came to the red cabbage slaw but decided to trust the masters and was so glad I did. The sandwich was grilled cheese perfection! They also offer Seamless delivery. I see more grilled cheese in my future.

After my previous entry, I was extremely surprised when the CEO contacted me directly to discuss what had transpired. I mean the CEO… wow. The fact that he took to the time to email with me directly… again, the CEO, shows how much Mr. Rubin is passionate about customer satisfaction and his store… again he took the time to email me directly not once we had a discussion. Furthermore, in a complete unexpected gesture, Mr. Rubin invited not only me but also THREE guests to come back and give the Melt Shop another try. Well, today was that wonderful day. The food remains as delicious as I remember it and beyond satisfying. Seriously, who invented the Melt dipping sauce. The service was incredible. The staff was prompt and courteous. I saw this not only with how we were treated but also how the staff, especially the assistant manager, treated ALL customers. It appears there has been a big improvement as to the quality of service. Thank you Melt Stop Mr. Rubin & staff at 26th street location. Im so happy to write that Im back! Thank you MELTSHOP!

I’ve been meaning to write a review after coming to this particular Melt Shop location a few weeks back. I’ve been to other locations and they’ve been fantastic but this one definitely falls below par. Came here on MLK day at around 3:30pm and as expected, there weren’t a ton of people in there(maybe 2 – 3) and there were 5 of us. We opted to sit at the counter right by the door since that was the only place to accommodate the size of our group. We then went up to the register one by one to order our food and let the cashier know that we were staying. We waited about 5 minutes and they started calling our names — great, we thought. Most of our orders were in to-go bags when we got them, which isn’t a big deal but how about you listen to when we say we are staying(especially since you can see that our jackets and stuff were on the seats already). I ordered the Shroom sandwich and a tomato soup. When it came time for them to give me my order, they didn’t have my tomato soup and was pretty confused although I literally just ordered 5 minutes ago and then I open my sandwich and there were no mushrooms in my Shroom sandwich. I asked her if it was the Shroom and she said yes, so I said, there’s no mushrooms in here. She was a bit confused and took my sandwich back and all they did was grill the mushrooms and stuck it in my sandwich, which is fine but it really didn’t taste that great. Nor did the tomato soup as it was super salty. My friends ordered the regular tots and cheese tots — the regular were fine but the cheese tots were really salty too! All-in-all, I wouldn’t come back to this location but the other ones are great!

This place offers a variety of «grilled cheese» sandwiches on sourdough or white bread. They do have a classic grilled cheese, but I would recommend trying one of the ones with meat and a variety of fillings that render them very un-grilled cheese like. I tried the Buffalo Chicken and Fried Chicken ones which were similar. The Buffalo Chicken one was slightly spicy with blue cheese whereas the Fried Chicken one had red cabbage and melt sauce. Both were fairly large on crispy grilled bread and I thought both were greasily delicious too. The only thing is that the sandwiches are slightly overpriced at close to $ 10 each. With a side and drink will make it close to $ 20. Food was good but this is not a place I would regularly go to.

Everything is yummy but I’m not sure it’s worth the price. This isn’t somewhere I’d go frequently. Nutella shake is yummy. It’s Nutella and it’s a shake! The best grilled cheese I’d have to say is hands down the fried chicken! That was delicious and perfectly balanced. The truffle melt is simple and elegant(as much as you can get with a grilled cheese anyway). Great basic. I would definitely go for this over the classic(too basic, just go make that at home if that’s what you’re craving). If you want something with some healthy kick to your grilled cheese(and like the sweetness tomatoes and veggies can bring to your palate), go for the Big Skinny. Packed with veggies and a good taste, but a bit too oily; my sandwich kept dripping… The maple bacon was alright. It was sweet and bacon-y like maple bacon typically is, but this grilled cheese sandwich was not a favorite of mine.

Grilled cheese is one of my favorite foods and Melt Shop is one of my favorite places to get it. I’ve never seen so much cheese oozing out of a sandwich until I ordered a grilled cheese at Melt Shop. I just went with the classic but stay tuned for when I try all the other flavors, specifically TRUFFLE. But yeah the original is perfect. I grabbed it for lunch to go. The place was pretty crowded and there weren’t many places to sit so I recommend just bringing it back to your desk/apartment to eat. One negative thing — I ordered the tomato soup to go with my grilled cheese… eh pass on that. The tomato soup ONLY tasted good when I was dipping the grilled cheese in it. Otherwise it was too watery and didn’t do anything for me. So much sodium in this meal, too. I think I drank 25 gallons of water for the rest of the day.

Meh. I’ve had some sandwiches here that were pretty okay. The fancy sandwiches are the only recommendation I have — like arugula and truffle oil. that is pretty great. If you’re trying for a classic, this is one thing they just don’t get. It’s not difficult. American cheese, white bread. They insist on putting some mysterious«cheese sauce» on it. Not really sure what that is, but I have to explicitly ask without it cause wtf. If you want tomato as an addition, just fyi — they«season» the tomato. This pretty much just means they pour salt & pepper on it so it tastes terrible and charge you an addition $ 1 for that. I’d go back if I wanted anything other than the classic, cause IMO they just do not get that one right.

I used to work in the area and my company would always order from here. I absolutely love this place. Be forewarned: if you are on a diet and trying to be healthy don’t eat here. It’s cheesy it’s greasy and it’s delicious. My favorite is the fried chicken sandwich, slaw cheese chicken, all to die for. Tots are awesome, a tip: if you get the ones with the cheese sauce get it on the side and dip them in the cheese is so rich and creamy and if they put it on top they tots lose their crunch and it’s soggy and too cheesy.

I have ordered out from this location numerous times during the past six months and I have to say that Melt Shop delivers every single time. The joint advertises as «comfort food» which definitely fits the bill of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and luxurious shakes. My absolute favorite is the Three Cheese Sandwich(gruyère, havarti, goat cheese, and tomatoes on sourdough) and my husband swears by the Fried Chicken(fried chicken, pepper jack, red cabbage slaw, and melt sauce on sourdough). I may be a little biased, but I personally think that the shakes at Melt Shop are even better than those from Shake Shack. I’ve only tried the strawberry so far, but have definitely been blown away by the quality and taste. Definitely give this place a try if you are craving a great grilled cheese. The only thing you will regret is your expanding waistline. UPDATE: Sadly, Melt Shop does not deliver food to our location anymore due to changing delivery zones. So very disappointing that I will not get to order from here anymore.

Midtown lunch spot-check. Close enough to the office-check! Buttermilk fried chicken-Bring it on!!! Tater tots too! Finally made it to this spot and why haven’t I been here sooner? Their Fried Chicken sandwich on sourdough with pepperjack cheese and slaw is delicious! I always like more meat than bread and the ratio here is on point. However, don’t let that detract from how good the fresh sourdough pairs with the fried chicken. Shop tots are great! A perfectly seasoned side item dusted with parmesan. I need to figure out a way to deter my co-workers from stealing these when I bring it back to the office however. Although everything on the menu sounds great, I’m not sure I can ever veer from my beloved Fried Chicken. Maybe I’ll go wild and go for the Buffalo sandwich next time… wait… that also has the fried chicken on it… Oh well… Can’t go wrong with a good thing.

Disappointing. I’m not sure what I expected but I was unimpressed. Maybe it was too real and in my head I expected a giant greasy mass of bread and cheese, haha. The tater tots were definitely lacking. Of note — the layout of the place was kind of awkward.

«Life is too short,» they said. «Eat the cheese.» And so I did – along with fried chicken. No shame, no pain… all gains. I came here a few weeks ago with a friend who suggested we get the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Melt – hold up, FRIEDCHICKEN in a grilled cheese? That sounds unusual(I admit I’m not a huge grilled cheese fan), but it was surprisingly delicious because of all the perfect, different ingredients and tastes composed in one – crispy, savory, sourish, creamy, and a hint of spicy. I couldn’t wait to go back after that, so I ordered the Truffle Melt the next time I went back. I was really looking forward to this; I am a self-proclaimed truffle aficionado and the thought of it way before I finally got my hands on it, made me drool(literally). Flavor was great and there was a huge truffle presence with a nice touch of arugula, but I expected more. Even though I expected a chunky sandwich as big as the Fried Chicken, I was not disappointed. This didn’t get me really full as did the Fried Chicken, and had it not been for LevelUp, I don’t think I’d ever pay full-price for them. I’ll definitely come back if there’s a deal because they have some of the most creative grilled cheese sandwiches in the city, but pricey. The Shop Tots are also pretty good and cheesy(as expected). There are only about 4 small tables in here, so it’s hard to find seating sometimes since it’s a busy shop. The staff is friendly and accommodating here, which is always a plus!

Over rated. Props to having Sriracha on the side. Tomato soup was watery and plain. The classic was okay. The carmalized onions were kinda cold, as mentioned in previous reviews. Wish i spent $ 12 on a better meal. Ill give them another chance on a different sandwhich.

Really thought I’d give them 4 or 5 stars, but they don’t deserve it. At least not for the three sandwiches I tried. I went with a meatless option for my first visit(3 cheeses), and it was okay. I wish the sandwich was a little hotter when I received it, but other than that it was decent. The tomatoes in the sandwich and the Sriracha I used as a dipping sauce was the best part of my the meal. I tried my boyfriend’s Turkey Club, and it was nothing spectacular but, again, decent. He ordered shop tots on the side. Glad those weren’t sub par. I also tried my cousin’s Classic, which I basically could have made at home. She’s 6 years old so I didn’t want to get her anything too wacky. She wanted a vanilla shake, but for some strange reason they weren’t selling any. She had to settle for their gross lemonade. Booooo. Eh.
