Mia Sushi & Steakhouse

This review is based solely on the nightlife as we didn’t get a chance to eat because the kitchen had already closed. With that being said, don’t come here for drinks and hookah. With so many places around the area with good service we had to wait at least 30 minutes to get a hookah and the service for ordering drinks/​bottles is extremely slow. To top it all off, after midnight they become a CASH ONLY establishment. Who the hell does that in 2016? This place is a mess, go elsewhere!

Really loved the food. Best place I’ve ever come to in New York. I come here a lot for work. The yuca fries were amazing! Our waitress was super attentive and memorized our order and got it right. Only thing is they don’t accept credit cards so take cash!

This place is nothing special at all… It really does take alot for me to not like a place, I will always give it a second chance but not here. Came here 2 weeks ago with my Coworkers for some drinks because one of our patients told us about it and its close to our office.
1^st– We got there at 4:00pm…the waitress didn’t attend to us until 4:35…mind you the place was pretty empty. My sister asked the waitress what took so long and her reply was «Well I’m here now right» Mind you she was talking to the hostess the whole time…(WTF)
2^nd– We ordered some happy hour drinks (the price is good 2 for 1 so you get 2 drinks for 9 bucks) but the drinks tasted water down… two of my friends cups were broken… Honestly I can make better drinks at home
3^rd The food took FOREVER!!! and we ordered Sushi and Appetizers. by the time our food came we just wanted to leave so we ate and asked for the check. that came pretty fast.
4^th– The bathroom was dirty…
But the food was pretty good. nothing to go crazy over but it was good
I recommend for this place to hire more people (Who actually want to work) and hire a new bartender who doesn’t make water down tasting drinks.

if you want to go for a night out (a night i mean after 11 pm) then its okay. It gets crowded but if you want a club-​ish thing then mia is a good place for that. Now, if you want to come for food? Come with A LOT of patience. The servers here are SUPER slow and can be rude depending on who you get. I’ve seen how the manager has talked to people and it’s very unprofessional. I think that is why the tip is included in the bill because they know the service is horrible and servers will not be tipped.

The space is super tiny, customer service is ehhh. Nothing but hookah fumes and bad cocktails.

You should really invest in some hospitality courses for your staff, they can use some tips on how to become better servers. If «we» (consumers) don’t come «you» (servers) don’t get paid!

Service was really good here. My waitress hooked it up with a house made free drink! Everyone is super sweet and the appetizers were enough to fill your stomach. Turns into a lounge after 11. Would come back for sure!

The fact that they don’t take international IDs is a shame like wtf we came here and Brought a friend who was visiting the us and the porter told us they don’t accept Dominican ID like seriously what someone who’s visiting will bring with them a us ID like wtf they neither take credit or debit cards which is fine for me but the fact that I feel is discrimination not to take someone because the person is from another country and they can come here sucks! I only give 5 star cause the bartender Steven was nice… he’s one of the best bartenders I had meet in my life!
If you’re Dominican visiting the USA or from another country don’t come to this place.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVERRRR! The manager Judy is very unprofessional. She has no people skills or etiquette. The promoters and their page states that they have FREE hookah til 9pm. She makes me pay then three minutes later they throw out ANOTHER flyer stating the same. I ask to speak to her she never comes out her office I have to knock on the office door to speak to her she had a very nasty attitude and very rude hand gestures. The hookah worker gives me back my money and the table next to me but don’t honor the rest of the house that is smoking hookah that was suppose to be free. She needs to go back to school and learn how to deal with customers the right way. Secondly they must learn how to not false advertise. I wouldn’t of came here if I knew they wouldn’t honor the guests like they are prompting online. Know wonder they went out of business. Their quesadillas were beyond dry and chicken wings are dry as hell. Let’s not forget we had to chase our waiter down for water, to clear our table and for our check. He only came to our table to take our order and never came back to take our drink order we drank water the whole time and the place isn’t even pack. I’m never coming back here EVERRR. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS POOR MANAGEMENT PLACE. They don’t even deserve a star.

Came here for happy hour with my friends after work and we ABSOLUTELY ADORED this place. The Ambience was remarkable, the food was so fresh and delicious, and the drinks where perfectly made!!! They just need a lot more help as far as customer service, appropriate staffing, and more of a variety in music.

Dont even waste your time or money. Went there for a friends b day brunch. The brunch was a joke. Ordered salad and it was the salad you buy at the supermarket in a bag. They did not have certain things on the menu. They did not have steak sauce. The poor waiter had to go to the store and go buy some. They also ran out of a certain type of liquor one of my girlfriends ordered. I Ordered chicken and it was nothing to go crazy about i could cook way better then that. Just overall bad.

The atmosphere is strange. Its a confusion of Spanish, Chinese and I have no idea what. The waitress was very unsure of anything she was doing. I’m not sure if it was a language barrier or something. I ordered my food and drink. The party I came with got their drinks and I didn’t. When I asked where my drink was, I got the confused face. I asked for water and it had foreign particles swimming in it, I told the waitress and got another. Because there was shit still floating in my drink, I asked for a ginger ale, that tasted horrible! All I tasted was the syrup! At that point I gave up. I was hoping the food would be better, boy was I wrong! The «sushi,» and I use that term very loosely, was disgusting. I cannot remember what I ordered, but it wasn’t worth the $ 25 I had to pay for it. I’m sure that I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Terrible. Seriously terrible, this is a spot just for people who know the employees. The hookah guy was the only attentive friendly person. First off i arrive and had no waiter for like 45minutes, then eventually somebody came, then another waiter came and asked if we wanted anything else. We ordered, food was good but this is not a place to have dinner. No attention at all, you dont know who is your waiter, and to top it off i had my coat on since 11:30pm and at 12:10am the waitor finally brings the bill and tells me they dont accept cards after 12am. I had already spent $ 60 on hookah cash on a Thursday, because they had false advertising. So i ask where is the Atm she says in the back and walks away didnt even show me, so i had to find my way there! When i find my way there the machine isnt working! So i dont understand their method, its like etheir you dont accept cards all day and you remove the card signs or you atleast have a functioning atm. Anyways. Do not go here! Not even if its last minute. Not worth it

My party was super late so I kind wandered around aimlessly for five minutes before realizing I was the first to arrive. Anyway, upon entering the restaurant, the hostess was really Nice but the atmosphere wasn’t very inviting. I ordered a passion fruit margarita that was really tasty. Once one of my friends arrived we were quickly given a two seater bear the bat to order food.
Our waiter, Jesus was very attentive and happily changed my friends flat ginger ale the two times she asked to exchange. He was friendly and cheerful and offered good details on the menu. My friend ordered tostones and wings, I had the shrimp quesadilla and yucca fries. The yuca fries were super greasy and were pretty old, the shrimp quesadilla was good but didn’t completely satisfy my appetite. My friend wasn’t too please by the wings but ate them. Overall the music was good and so were the drinks, but the food is t something I would particularly rave about. However they do offer hookah!

I love everywhere i go with my favorite Uptown Girl, but i’m torn about this place. and the night was already special to me because it was exactly 5 years earlier that i had first met Jean P. in the flesh, but…
okay, let me start with the pros (aside from the aforementioned favorite Uptown Girl):
–the MIA sushi roll was surprisingly reeeally good. who’da thunk to top sushi w sweet plantain? apparently MIA did, and it was awesome.
–the flan as well was reeeally good. super caramelly, the way I like most things. *wiggles eyebrows*
–the rest of the food wasn’t bad, but just okay, so, um…
okay, so the big con:
–the drinks just weren’t getting it. I started with a LIIT. while I appreciate that she (the bartender) topped it with sour mix instead of soda, it was too much sour mix. i needed a few glasses of water to release the pucker after drinking them. Jean’s coconut mojito was tasty, but lacked any kick, & Josie’s drinks weren’t getting it either. I mean, we saw bartenders pouring some kinda Hi-​C (or the like) «juice» from a bottle into the drinks. for what they were charging I’d expect better. I mean, I’m not at a backyard bbq over here.
what you need to know: COME WITH CASH!
–they only take cash after midnight.
–they ONLY take CASH for TIPS
–who knows where the nearest atm is…
–happy hour is advertised as 2 for 1 drinks. in reality they just ring each drink as ½ price — so don’t think if you had 3 drinks that fourth is due you — you can just end it with paying for 3 half priced drinks. i know it may seem unimportant, but it can throw things off if you’ve paid the bill and are expecting that 4^th free drink so when you order it now you have another mini-​bill
to pay.
–don’t be surprised if the bartender/​waiter gives you the bill when you’re not even tryna leave yet. her shift is probably just ending and she wants her tip. like now. because you can only tip in cash. but she doesn’t bother telling you that when she gives you the bill.

I just moved back to NYC few months ago even though I’m from here originally. I had a friend in town from Virginia. She wanted to eat sushi so my sister told me about MIA. I hated it! We both order sex on beach drinks which were pure vodka so we had to ask to be fixed twice! The food wasn’t as bad as I expected, just cold. When i walked in place first thing i asked for was a hookah, I then asked two more times making it 3 times! I didn’t get hookah guy to come ask what flavor until after we finished eating. I decided to not get it and just leave! really just bad service. Felt bad bringing my fiend there.

First time I came here, I came with a friend for brunch and some hookah. We got IDed, even though we had no intentions of drinking, and we’re told «Sorry, we can’t serve you.» I was angered because usually, you would advice a minor that you wouldn’t be able to serve them alcohol, not be able to serve them entirely (especially since it’s a restaurant and lounge).
The second time, I came with a different friend, and we came for sushi. The service was just horrible. When I tried to call one of the servers attention, I flat out got ignored. The sushi was also… not good, and the hookah…
My experience was just horrible here. Def not coming back.

The service is horrible very under staff !! The DJ was the bomb very cool guy DJ heavy star ! The staff is nice but not enough people working. I waited for my waiter for like 1 hour before I even saw her again on a Thursday !! Get in yesssss ! The hookah was on point his name is Andre very good !!

Don’t waste your time, this is a horrible place!!!
They overcharged my table (two people) $ 120 when we only ordered two rolls (which were disgusting in my opinion). After correcting the check, server had the nerve to place a 20 percent tip! Don’t come to this place!

Drinks and food are very good. This location offers happy hour everyday from 4pm — 9pm. The service sucks and the workers are rude. Owner should definitely hire staff that know what they’re doing, or train them before being hired!
I visited this location a few months ago, every time I go back service seems to get worst.

I think the food and drinks here taste pretty good. The service (for dinner) is horrible. There’s this one waitress who’s just. horrible. Had to wait over an hour for a hookah refill on my birthday dinner. Happy hour was til 9pm and we ordered some drinks at like 8:58 and she said she would still charge us the happy hour prices — but of course when the check came, she charged us regular prices and even got the manager involved. We would’ve paid the amount gladly if she hadn’t been so rude about it OR literally lied about charging us happy hour prices.
Anyway, I do prefer this place after 11pm when it turns into a club/​lounge setting. Good DJs/​music and the prices are pretty much like anywhere in the area. I think if I went for dinner with a different waitress I would like it a lot more here.

El lugar es súper nice!!! But es caro para ser tan pequeño., y para mi el servicio es pésimo. Digo nice por el ambiente y el sonido los cuales son súper!
