Great haircut. I called a head and scheduled an appointment so i would not have to wait during my lunch break. I got the 12 $ groupon and was super happy with the haircut i got.

For a little background, my hair is very difficult to cut since I have kind of a weirdly shaped head. When it gets cut short, the hairs on the very top of my head stick up like a pom pom. As a result, I haven’t been to the same barber more than once since I was a kid.
When I started to describe this problem to Nick, he knew exactly what I was talking about before I finished explaining and told me «I’m gonna be the first barber to hook it up for you». He wasn’t wrong. He cut my hair in spurts and paused to ask if I thought it was good — he wanted to work with me to make sure I left with a great haircut. He explained his thought process — «because when you walk out of here you’ve got my face on your head» — I don’t know why other barbers don’t seem to feel that way but that difference in mentality made a big difference to me.
All in all, great haircut in a friendly environment and I will most definitely be back.

Just moved to nyc recently and I had tried multiple of barbershops around the area, I just couldnt find that One barber I was comfortable with. Finally checked out michaels and fortunately I found Nick. He gives one of the best fades and has a great vision. I would def recommend him the anyone.

This barber shop is my new find near work. I’m particularly pleased with the professional service but casual atmosphere… also the hours. I was having a tough time getting a cut after work. Also a great lunch or midday shop to get your hair cut.

Michael’s Barber Shop, under new ownership, is a classic New York City barber experience. Talk shop, talk Knicks, talk politics while getting exactly the cut you want. They’re about giving you the desired result. Great price for a great service.

Nick is a magician. I’ve gotten three or four compliments on my hair. One friend’s reaction summed it up: «bro where did you get your haircut, that’s fire»… needless to say I’ve told all my best friends about this place – because its more than just trimming up, you will be at the top of your game and feel great. They take care of you with a free drink, free wash and styling after the cut. Amazing service. I’ll be going back for as long as I’m living in NYC. (I’ve had probably 100 barbers in the 8 years I’ve lived in the city… a new one every month.) Thanks Nick, I never believed a haircut would be somewhat life changing. Weird statement, but true. I’ve had three cuts here now from both of the barbers and the guys have done a great job each time. They are friendly and both know how to give your hair some great style, as opposed to just a simple cut.

Wooooooooah — I have never received so many compliments for a haircut. It has been a couple days since I visited Nick at what is now N&D Five Star Barber Shop and I am still getting compliments on it. The doorman of my office building noticed how well Nick cut my hair and immediately asked where I got my hair did.
Nick was incredibly thorough and attentive to the haircut. I felt like I was getting … the best haircut of my life, not even exaggerating. The amount of care he poured into it was noticeable. I went from «I like it» to «…I love it» by the time he was finished.
If you ever are in need of a haircut, Nick is the go-​to guy. He is also fun to talk to.

This place is under new management. Reunited with my favorite barber Nick here who used to be at 45^th street. A solid barber is hard to find, so if he moves just a few quick blocks south i’m there! Same great haircut and service. Easy to find right on 6^th between 37^th and 38^th Street.

After four years of searching for a good priceless cut I tried out Michaels barber shop! The BEST CUT I’ve had in a longtime. He’s amazing and will forever follow this man. I travelled from Sydney Australia to NYC to experience a few special things.
1/​A hot dog at Yankee Stadium,
2/​A Broadway show,
3/​A Straight shave and haircut from a NY barber.
The hot dog and show were risk free because I could do over both. I put a lot of faith however into my only shot at the barber.
Michael didn’t disappoint.
I had a wonderful experience with the shave. All the bells and whistles. Hard to get excited about a shave but trust me! This is worth the rave.
To top it off, since I returned home, everyone has remarked that this is the best haircut they’ve ever seen on me.
I’m not a big reviewer of goods and services but I had to write about this.
Go! I’m telling you you won’t regret it!

Trying a new barbershop is always a hit or miss but I’m glad I tried this one because it was def a hit. Both Michael and Romero are professional who pay close attention to detail. They do not rush you out like many other barber shops in Manhattan. Also, a free wash and hot towel is included. That is unheard of in NYC. I have found my new barber shop and will definitely be going back here.

This is my favorite barber shop in Midtown, Michael let’s you choose the music too. It’s 21 for a cut with five off for your first time.
Shaves as well if you ask.
Better then the old Venies. Down stairs is a pizza place. Good cut and good experiance.

Michael I think is nyc’s hidden barber gem. Other than the fact that he gives a great cut he has a heck of a personality. 20 bucks for a men’s haircut and you get 5 off with his newly opened promotion. The guy hands put a flyer outside.
Best haircut in a long time. 10 dollar shave Ask him for the warm towel too! You can tell he loves his craft.
