MTA Subway-42nd St./Times Sq

Somehow this station isn’t QUITE the clusterfluff you’d expect, but of course it’s still inefficient, but at least there’s nearly every option here.

I thought this station was fairly clean and easy to navigate… some of the other stations not so much. Like the fact they have a few vendors here to buy stuff from like refreshments. But it’s what I expected and again easy to get up to everything right in the heart of Times Square.

For New York City, Times Square is already considered a relatively efficient and clean stop. The prior sentence was probably the saddest statement ever made by man, but it is true. Anyone who has taken public transportation in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei, Seoul, et al. all know well how inadequate our great city’s system is. How can litter, rats, aggressive pigeons, delays, signal problems, more delays, etc. actually be tolerated as the norm? Only in New York City!
Anyway, get on the 6:05 p.m. Express to Flushing if you can. Any later train, and you’ll likely regret you ever existed. As a fat guy, it’s even worse for me. People are extremely rude — they’ll push others for a seat and visibly celebrate with their friends once they obtain a seat. I always opt to stand, not because the seats are probably soiled by urine, feces, ink, food, bed bugs, or other horrors, but because there is probably someone else who is more exhausted, older, and more frail than I am who desperately needs a seat. Others are likely oblivious to this fact.
I should totally take a video of how rude people are — even pregnant women are not likely to win this push-​fest. You think Mets games are bad? Try having a Mets game along with the US Open happening at the same time — you won’t be able to breathe! Much like sardines in a can, humans can surprisingly be stuffed to the brink in a train.
The 7 train, in terms of efficiency and reliability, has been good, but only relative to all the other «options.» So, study close quarter combat and join me on the 7!

You Got The 1,2,3,7,A, C, E, N, Q, R, & the Grand Central-​42^nd St (S)huttle. Lots of Transfer Options To Choose From. It Also Connects to the PABT or Port Authority Bus Terminal although it’s a pretty long walk as it is near the A, C & E train area. There also a lot of small stores for people & tourists to check out if they want to buy or just simply do some window shopping. Another good feature about this station is that it has wifi as your walking down the passageway to make that subway transfer.

What can we expect from NYC subways? Not much actually, not too filthy and access to the train is all we can ask, sad but that is the reality.
If that is the expectation then this particular station is awesome, the underground passage is quite useful on days where the weather is not fitting for walking outdoors, the passage allows access between 44^th and 8^th to 7^th and 40^th (maybe more I haven’t found yet).
In addition to the extensive passageway, there are shops in the station for shopping and some services such as a barber etc, I personally have not purchased any of the products or services in the station but they are available.
This station allows access to the N, Q, R, 1,2,3,7,A, C, E and S connecting to grand central. One of the most convenient stations in NYC.
