This is a great little Muji. I’ve only bought an umbrella so far at this store, but I suggest that if you’re in the neighborhood, stop in. There’ll be way more Muji stores in the US soon — I’m eager to visit the new 5th Avenue & 40th Street flagship. I’ve been super happy with all my Muji purchases. Think of Muji as combining elements of Uniqlo, the Gap, H&M, Ikea, and Crate & Barrel with Japanese sensibility (10/​09/​2015).

Cute shop with housewares and clothing etc. Really dig the aesthetic of Muji and ended up stocking up on a lot of dishware. Luckily got out before spending a ton more. Was hoping to come here and step up my chop stick game but there was only one choice. Weird. Also, comparing the yen price on the tag to what they are charging they seem overpriced. The dollar has been stronger than the yen for awhile. Even considering they have to ship items overseas, I’d expect the yen and dollar price to at least be close. A 400 yen item sells for around 6.50. At parity 400 would equal 4 bux. Right now 4 bux is 480 yen. I ended up only picking stuff up that was on sale. Take me to your leader

I was very upset that they discontinued the hex pens.
Muji is a true treasure trove. Their products are always useful and designed with aesthetics in mind.
The price-​point is a bit high, and that consideration has often been a decisive factor in not purchasing a given item no matter how much I liked it.
I wish they would offer North American sized bedding.

Yesterday I bought a bag of rice cracker at the Chelsea store. The original price is $ 3.5 and it has that «30% off at register» sticker on it. After I went home and checked the receipt I found that the girl did not include the discount at all. It is just $ 1 difference. However, I get very annoyed this time for THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME they have a price issue. I have to mention that the staff has such an attitude as if they work for the prestige but please, be attentive to your job. I used to love every MUJI store in NYC even though occasionally shit happened. I have thrown a lot of money ever since they opened the first store in Manhattan. I have witnessed how their business mode here is ruining the customer experience. My disappointment Keeps growing and I no longer feel the joy I had before while walking between the shelves. You know what, I don’t want that $ 1 back. I just won’t go there anymore.

The items are great.
cuz I know Muji very well since I was teen in Japan so. high quality goods but something is a bit pricy in here.
Why 3 stars? because the items a really small selections.
I really hope the’ll carry more items like Japan store!
Skincare products are really recommend. I’ve been using their item more than 20 years and still good for me. good price and quality, worth to try.
and small items such as pens and notes are very useful and reasonable.
I’ll be back anyway, because I have no choice to pick others stores for somethings I really need!

Sometimes I go to Muji because I’ve seen their products too many times on tumblr, and I just wanna see them IRL. Then when I’m there it’s hard to stop myself from buying everything so I can showcase it on tumblr and make someone else very jealous.
Seriously though, the stationary selection is enough to make any studyblr break the bank. I really want everything there.
I just wish there was a bigger selection of kitchen items. It’s already good but when I need things like a matcha whisk and it’s not there, I’m always surprised.

Muji was always like my first go-​to spot when I am in need of some small accessories or cosmetics that places like Sephora can never deliver. I am so impressed by how detail oriented they are and how well thought they have shown in their product. You can never go wrong if you can think ahead of your customers and let them be grateful later on than you underdeliver and suffer from lost of clients. What was better, the store was designed in a way to fully relax your body and mind the second you step in. Even though it might not be able to represent the modern high end population, it does a nice job in illustrating how simple thought can be turned into a perfection of living.

This store sells high-​quality and highly functional stuff, including office kit and home furnitures. The price is reasonable for the furnitures.
They also sell clothes with simple design, yet have high quality materials as well. However, it is a bit pricey for clothes.

Whenever I’m in the city I always Unilocal the area and see if there’s a Muji around. I love the store in general I always leave buying a bunch of stuff. If you love to have your stuff organized you can find some useful stuff. Always worth the trip!
The only drawback is their customer service. I counted 4 people in the store not one person asked me if I needed any help.
So far my favorite location is the one by Port Authority

oh god. I love Muji. My boyfriend and I promised each other that when we move into a nicer apartment and can afford non-​ikea furniture we would buy furniture from Muji. It’s pretty nice. I’m casually in love with their reclining chairs. But you don’t really care about that do you?
To be honest, maybe my love for Muji is based off my love of all things Japanese. I guess that’s expected if you’re a proud Japanese: p But in all seriousness, I love this place. The various containers are perfect for making your own travel sized make-​up, shampoo, toiletries and such and the glassware is pretty simple, but cute. Their stationary is pretty cool, I like their pens and their paper and the little toys they have are adorable.
Everything here is pretty simple in design, but perfectly usable and I really love that. Their clothing are pretty comfy too.

I love Muji. I found wonderful things at the Cooper Union and 40th street location. Well that being said the employees at the 19th street location are not as helpful or accommodating. On a cold evening their location was near by so I went to get one of the stackable shelves that I needed.
I ask one sales girl if they had the one I needed, she quickly said «no we had them but were out of stock». Fine. As I turn to leave I look to my right and there is like three dozen of the shelf that I wanted right there in front of me.
So I asked another sales person could he give me one of them. He quickly told me «Oh, they are just display, also I don’t know where to look for the price. sorry!» Seriously!!!
I worked in retail. You cannot tell me there is not a price list to look up, or he could have called another location to get a price check.
So I won’t be going back to the 19th street Muji location. Their employees are just too lazy.

I love this store.
Everything is well organized, and the staff cannot be more helpful.
I travel a lot, and through the years I have bought several garment bags from Muji.
They are awesome and keep my clothes folded and wrinkle-​free even after a 12 hour flight.

Someone told me that they had great pens here and upon learning that this place was Japanese, I knew they were probably right. And not only that, the artist in me told me that there would be other awesome stuff in this store. I don’t know how I’ve never heard of Muji before. Shame on me.
The store itself is modern, minimalistic with very definite Japanese tone/​vibe to it with the wood panels, and the cute little notebooks and containers of pens. I did find it a bit odd that they also sold clothing but from what I saw, their clothes looked pretty trendy so… pens, notebooks and a hoodie. Who knew?
Well, I ended up spending over $ 50 on pens and two little rubber stamps as a gift to my sister who is into card making as a serious hobby. I’m such an awesome brother and I wish I had all the money in the world to buy all of the pens in this place.

I was obsessed with the containers for makeup from this place and since I was meeting my daughter in Chelsea for some lunch and shopping I decided to save on shipping.
This store has a very minimalist and still lots of tiny gadgets in one place vibe going on.
It was well stocked. Lots of beige and white going on, which I actually love. The staff was friendly. They had my containers. It was a quick efficient satisfactory transaction. But seeing it once was all I needed.

A Japanese version of the Container Store.
A minimalist, mostly empty store selling minimalist, mostly empty things. Colorless plastic bins, large and small. Travel-​size containers. Stripped-​down notebooks. Pale slippers and pallid purse inserts.
These objects are no better than a similar object you probably already have at home. They just have a cooler aesthetic.

Nicely laid out store. Pen selection is great, of course.
I got a bit of attitude when I asked about the hair bands and their packaging. Seemed unnecessary. Plus, I was the only person in the store. Left me with a weird and not necessarily positive impression.
