We are very lucky to have Julie Glick providing the custom earmold service in NYC. If you love music and want the best possible sound from hi-​definition music (24bit 192Khz/​DSD etc.), your expensive source and IEMs are not going to sound their best until you go see Julie and get a custom mold, and possibly a new IEM. She also sells the finest IEMs on the market: JH Audio and UE.

I visited Dr. Glick for trying out various in-​ear monitors that I had initially identified as suitable for my needs and preferences. Having listened to a selection of samples from various manufacturers, I settled on custom JH Audio IEMs. The process for having the plastic ear mold casts taken and ordering the IEMs was very smooth, and I got on-​the-​point answers to all my questions. Now that the IEMs have arrived and fit perfectly, I can say that I was very happy with every aspect of my experience.

I am a stenographer and rely on my hearing for work. But I’m also a huge electronic music fan and go to many festivals and local shows on the weekends. I came to Julie for a pair of custom earplugs to replace a pair I had lost.
The consultation was brief but professional and thorough. Julie was great to talk to and made everything fun and personal. After she removed the casting material, she went over usage instructions and answered any questions I had. I got them rushed because I am leaving for Holy Ship next Tuesday and they arrived way ahead of time! (I went in on 2÷2÷2016 and I received them today, 2÷5÷2016, delivered to my apartment)

I am not a musician, but I love listening to music. For years, I have had in ear, custom molded Ultimate Ear monitors. I lost them earlier this year and began looking at replacement options. I had 3 objectives– I wanted to get the very best in ear monitors, with a perfect fit. I wanted to get a hearing exam, as I have known for some time that I have some mild hearing loss. I was hoping to get some in ear monitors that could compensate for that loss. And, finally, I wanted to investigate hearing aids, if it turned out that I needed them.
After a few hours of research, I was convinced that Julie Glick was the doctor I wanted to see. Working with musicians, she has an appreciation for their requirements– so she had far more experience than I even needed, as far as music was concerned. I also was sure that since at least part of my hearing loss is a result of too much loud music for too long– that she would have a good understanding of what I needed.
My confidence was rewarded. Julie Glick is one of the finest professionals I have had the pleasure to deal with. She tested my hearing and told me that I have moderate hearing lost in higher frequencies and could benefit from hearing aids. She did the ear impressions and after over an hour of demonstrating various manufacturer’s in ear headsets, I selected a pair and she took care of the rest.
Best of all– she prescribed the hearing aids that she felt were best for my particular hearing loss. And, she was able to get them overnighted. Since we traveled from Washington, DC to New York to see Julie– I was anxious to take the hearing aids home. I have had the hearing aids for two weeks now and my entire world has changed. All of my music is now new to me in fabulous ways. I hear notes I have not heard in years. Voices are crisp and clear. Crowded, noisy restaurants no longer bother me. I hear no sounds that don’t seem to belong. No odd rushes or feedback. Just crisp, clear, magical sounds. Oh– and the hearing aids are all but invisible. I could not be happier.
In summary– I can hear all the background noise– it just does not interfere with my ability to hear people. And, loud noise does not seem to bother me at all. I think the best way I can describe them is that there is virtually nothing that I hear that sounds odd or artificial. It’s just like I am hearing the sounds that I hear clearly in the lower frequencies– but now, not only do the lower frequencies that I could already hear sound better, I hear the higher frequencies, too. Plus, nothing is heard that sounds like it might not belong. It’s simply wonderful!
As for Julie Glick– I love her enthusiasm. And her knowledge and professionalism. I love it when I find a professional that I can both enjoy and place my health in his or her hands with total confidence.

I had been researching in-​ear monitors for months and had finally settled on JH Audio, but couldn’t narrow down exactly which model to choose. Finding the right custom in-​ear monitors is highly subjective process, fraught with angst because they are expensive not the kind of thing you can just return. Having a professional you can trust to guide you through the process is an immeasurable benefit.

I came in for molds and a hearing test and had a totally unrushed experience where all my questions were answered.

Dr Glick is amazing. She was very helpful and informative and patient with all my questions. Let me take all the time I needed demoing various IEM’s she has on hand and staying afterhours for me to finish up. She even got the office upstairs to squeeze me in for a hearing test and exam when I couldn’t book one myself. Anybody in the market for IEMs or just needing new molds should run to see her.
