Solid sushi place in SOHO There is a faint fishy smell to the room but it passes. Wait staff is pretty observant, didn’t have to ask for refills on water or beer . The rolls are a little over priced for the quantity you get, but they were tasty. definitely not a five star flavor but good for a quick night of sushi with friends.

Starter: Tofu Salad — fresh& soft tofu with crispy greens. The Perfect match! Miso soup — a bit too strong taste from konbu kelp. Grilled black cod with miso sauce: dish of the night! very juicy and sweet miso flavor. even better than Nobu’s Meal: Sushi deluxe — 10 pcs nigiri & yellowtail scallion roll. simple arrangements but very tasty fish neta choice especially rightly seasoned sushi rice but the size of each pieces is kinda small to me. Black Cod: much bigger portion than appetizer. better deal.

SKIPSKIPSKIP. Resoundingly awful. We got the sushi/sashimi/roll dinner combo for two and a mackarel appetizer. Some of the sashimi bites were rancid and gummy– potentially old fish. Nothing stood out. Aesthetically unpleasing — everything was slopped on like a 3 year old’s abstract painting. Service is slow and scatterbrained. For example… Our waitress started serving the three miso soups for three people. She set down two bowls. Someone came in the door. She disappeared for about 40 seconds to seat them, then she came back to serve out the third one. Tea refill took about 10 minutes after a request to be completed. There is a decent sake list. We had a delicious sake described as «sweet and creamy.» We left still ravenous and had to eat another meal somewhere else. Appetizer, dinner for two combo, 300mL sake totalled to about $ 95 including tip. This meal was NOT worth this pricing.

I was in a group of five plus two babies and every other restaurant had an hour wait we had to eat somewhere we walked by this sushi spot it was empty which usually isn’t a good sign but we were starving and all sat down. They have wine sake and beer no liquor. Which was perfect for us. The food was delicious I was surprised we were the only once there. Sushi came out fast and fresh and the dumplings were great! A little pricey in my opinion but I’m from Miami so New York in general in more expensive to me. All was great but the guys of the group did get really drunk and then kind of ended up closing us out and trying to get rid of us. Thought they would be happy to have paying customers but the night abruptly ended. Our waiter was great super patient considering it all. Don’t why why this spot was empty but I would eat there again

This is a place to avoid if you are expecting people to honor your reservation or to treat you with respect or concern. We made a lunch reservation, showed up on time and were told that they didn’t look at reservations, they seated people on a first come, first serve basis. They told us that they did not have a table for three and that it would be at least 30 minutes until something cleared. They were rude and completely indifferent to the fact that we had made a reservation. Needless to say, we left and went elsewhere. So save yourself the trip and go somewhere where they honor the reservations and actually care whether you eat there or not.

Less is more. Less of a scene than most. Fewer people. Better food. So don’t let the lack of people through you off. Surprisingly impressive.

The foods were very good. We ordered Futomaki, Uni&shiso roll, Cod roll, King crab salad roll, Salmon sushi, Egg sushi, Rainbow roll, Edamame, Natto roll and Avocado roll. All of fishes were fresh and looked good. We’ll come back here again!

My family and I LOVE this restaurant! We have been eating here for 5 years, and it has never disappointed. Amid a sea of sushi bars, ramen, robata and yakitori places, it is wonderful to have a quality restaurant that still serves honest, down-to-earth Japanese comfort food at very fair prices, with wonderful service. The Nagomi is a treasure.

This place was average. I would recommend not going here. Service was terrible & it is extremely expensive for what they offer. They even charged us for extra ginger and terriaki sauce. One of the men had the audacity to chase after my family and I to ask for more of a tip. We gave them a 10% tip and he asked us for 15% after we had walked out of the store. If you want to get ripped off, go here

Underwhelming dining experience. Went here for lunch and got three sushi rolls, dumplings, and coconut ice cream for dessert. At the time I ordered I was the only person there, yet they forgot to bring my dumplings and brought them out after the sushi. There was no salad with the lunch combo. The sushi was bland and lacked that clean, fresh taste you get with good sushi. I got the ice cream to get the taste of sushi out of my mouth but it tasted more like vanilla the coconut flavor was so weak. There was freezer burn on it as well. I won’t be coming back.

This place was pretty whatever. Didn’t have to wait for a table and it wasn’t bad or anything. Just very very average. We got miso, salad, dumplings and then larger chef selection platter for two people and were not full. I guess its cheap for sushi but still not a cheap dinner. Wait staff was a little slow even though there were only two other tables full.

I went to Nagomi this Saturday and had the rainbow roll and a Boston roll. Both of the rolls I received were delicious, they also gave me extra soy sauce. The sushi it self tasted much fresher than another restaurant I was at last week. I also took some edemami to go before I left. I say this is a great local place and nice to have around in the area.

This is a very small, casual sushi bar. I have been twice during lunch and it does not seem to get too crowded. Service could be better, but the dumplings, sushi and soup are great.

Actual rate — 3.5 star March 2014 Weekend dinner Delivery — good There is another restaurant, En Brasserie, that offers not always fresh sushi but that is it in the village. Aki 4th St closed and the same location became a tasty ramen joint, Ramen-ya. It’s also very rare for Japanese owned and operated(sushi) restaurant that delivers but Nagomi delivers to West Village from Soho. This obvious reason, we became a regular(delivery) customer. We oder the same thing and has been accepted their inconsistency in quality. Nagomi’s Chirashi Deluxe($ 40) — it is enough for two of me. It is packed with variety of the sea. Most exciting item for me is a crunchy fried Prawn’s head. I loved the crunchiness and saltiness of the shrimp. It adds oily crunchiness. Sushi Omakase($ 60) — Sushi Neta has been good to fine. Occasionally we hit with a fishy tuna, always tuna interestingly. The soup that comes with has been good. It’s different each time. My favorite is a whole crab in miso soup. It packed with crab-ness. Appetizer that come with is mostly thinly sliced yellowtail(inconsistent quality) with Yuzu citrus dressing and with/without garlic chips. It’s good when it’s fresh. Nagomi is not the best Japanese but they have a integrity in making traditional food and reflecting to what they make and knowing that, it comforts me. The chef creates old school, to me, but I appreciated the chef’s humble care in each dish. If a dish requires graded radish and forgot to deliver with my order, they send an one right away.

I was taken to Nagomi by a coworker on my first day and I thought it was pretty good. Their lunch special for 3 sushi rolls is a bit on the expensive side compared to a lot of other lunch specials around the city but I believe it’s better quality fish. It’s definitely a lot fresher than your typical«3 rolls for $ 9» specials. It’s a decent sushi spot and you get soup with your lunch special, which is always nice. The service is pretty attentive and I didn’t feel neglected at all, even though I think there maybe only 1 waitress while we were there. I rather enjoyed the Salmon, Tuna and Yellowtail-Scallion rolls I had. I’m already plotting about my next lunch here!

I’ve only ordered takeout from Nagomi, but the sushi is pretty fresh every time. Only complaint is that the prices are a bit pricey(but then again it’s a sushi place in the city) and ordering can be a pain in the ass because the staff there cannot speak English well. Other than that, I’ve had good experiences with their food and I hope it’s just as good when I have my first dine in experience here!

Decent sushi spot. Not amazing, but more than edible. 4 of us went on a Saturday night and it was fairly quiet inside. It appears they do a good take out service as I saw many bags going in and out, but only another 4 or 6 people were inside when we showed up. The menu was pretty substantial. All the normal rolls and sushi pieces you can imagine. I think the best rolls for the value were the Tune Double and the Salmon Double. Another one we really liked was a seared tuna over vegetables and a really sweet sauce. I can’t find the name on the menu, but it was good. The décor was simple and the bathroom was clean.

Try lifting a Britax stroller with a 10-pound baby and all the space-consuming infant accouterments, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of how hard it is to find some standard, not-BlueRibbon-pricey sushi in Soho. I admit that because of close proximity to my almost-in-the-Holland tunnel job location, and my endless craving for sushi, Nagomi remains high on my list of possible lunch options. It’s still pricey and you can probably order only one dish – no lunch libation – to keep up with your saving-for-a-mortgage budget. But, the spicy tuna rolls are divine. The service is humble, treat-you-with-the-utmost-respect respectful. And the atmosphere is clean, pleasant and my personal favorite, fly-free.

Nagomi has always been a delightful surprise for me! I’ve probably eaten in/out about 10 times over the years, and have always had a yummy, pleasant experience. The fish is always fresh, colorful, and tasty. Actually, the sushi is pretty delicious here. Presentation is always nice. The rolls are also very yummy. Service is nice. Delivery is pretty fast. However, I always forget about this place!!! It just doesn’t stick in my head~! I walked past it for 5 years, as i live one block away from it. My friend from another neighborhood suggested it for dinner, and i said«There is no sushi place on prince between spring and thompson!» and there it was!!! I always forget about it when I order sushi. I wish I didn’t, because this is the best place in soho to order sushi from! I’m writing this review because I want to remember it and keep ordering from it!!!

This is a solid sushi option in the area. It’s not Blue Ribbon, as some have felt obligated to point out, but I hardly think they’re trying to be, nor should anyone expect them to be. I’ve eaten in and had takeout, but would generally recommend the latter. It’s a small space and fills up quickly. Standard combos and sushi fare are on offer, but you’re definitely paying SOHO prices here. A simple sushi combo with 6 or 8 pieces, plus a roll, is going to cost you upwards of $ 15. Probably closer to $ 20 all in. With that said, the quality of the fish is consistently good and the preparations are well done. I have never had an issue. This isn’t my ace in the hole, but I have been a number of times and will undoubtedly return. As long as you don’t go in expecting to have an out-of-body experience, I recommend this place.
