The word «experience» is over used today, but I truly feel that the NARS boutique on Bleeker delivers in a beautiful way. My stars were in alignment, I worked/​played with Rebecca. It is my birthday in a couple of days, so I stopped in for nothing in particular, but thanks to Rebecca’s guidance and inspiration, we put together an impressive birthday haul that I am totally loving. The space, the knowledgeable/​attentive staff, and the NARS brand is exactly where it should be. A beautiful, bright, welcoming atmosphere here; no snooty factor, just good vibes. Let these folks help you curate your next haul — they are visionary!

I had an absolutely AMAZING experience at this store today. I came into the boutique with the intention of buying ONE thing. My salesperson, Diana D., was super knowledgeable, helpful, sanitary, friendly and not pushy at all. She didn’t know that I was a professional make up artist or that I cared at all about nars products, and she still answered my questions so well and thoroughly. I worked for a cosmetics line for 4 years and have now been freelancing for 8 years and i absolutely hate shopping at counters because I feel the artists lack talent and product knowledge (about finish, wear, ingredients, feel, etc), and all that is pushed is whatever is new. Diana showed me the new products, but made specific recommendations that would work for very particular needs. I live in Texas and I am truly sad this boutique can’t be my go-​to nars store! I left the place with a new powder, 3 blushes, 1 highlighter, 1 gloss, 1 bronzer, 1 gloss, 1 liquid eyeliner, and a mascara sample!

A decade ago, in the Stone Age for you people with ADD, I was the head of makeup artistry and training for the only other co. as cool as NARS. And since that co. Is no longer available in the U.S., THIS is the place I go and trust when I need advise from another pro. Like many makeup pros, I have a giant ego that no one can «put on my game face» better than me, but the kiss of death for a makeup artist is to get attached to a look or trust their giant ego. The guys at this place are extremely talented, knowledgeable and true artists. (I’m sure the ladies are great too, but when I first connected with the boys here, they became my go to team) I go during quieter hours and I get their fresh minds and they get my old makeup artist war stories. Oh and the new lipstick formula is the BEST I’ve ever used and since I’m 50, that’s saying something!

I was really impressed with the artists at this boutique. Very friendly and knowledgable. We all know the products are great. My opinion of the line has been raised because of the great service I receive at the Bleeker St location

This place is awesome!!! Had the most amazing makeup application experience with the talented Suzy Tamimi. She truly exemplified what excellent customer service should be like. Not only did she make me look fabulous, she also took the time to thoroughly explain what she was doing so that I could try it out myself another time. I had never gone to get my makeup done, so I have to say that for this being my first time it’ll be a tough act to follow! I’m extremely happy with the service I received & all the makeup goodies I bought. Totally recommend this place to anyone needing some guidance with their makeup needs.

I love love love nars products. My main reason for always being here is the always amazing Joey who you can completely trust with your brows… I have tried most of the best brow shapers in the city so my standards are quite high.
I hate the suspense if not knowing if you are going to end up with uneven pencil thin brows and I literally can get anxiety about it… I can completely relax with Joey knowing they will end up exactly how I like them. He only plucks too which I far prefer.
He NEVER goes too thin and gives them a beautiful shape. For me he is quite subtle and just cleans them up but I am sure each person is different and he plucks as much of little is needed. I believe he is now working out of the Madison location so if it is brows you are after chase him up! Not only is he a sweet person but really great and committed to what he does. I always leave looking and feeling great and he is a one stop shop for brows, make up and great conversation!
He has a gift with liquid liner too! I wish I could get a line that good!
I have dealt with other people at this location too such as Justin and they are fabulous too… really know both their products and other branded products on the market inside and out and help you look your best without being pushy.
One thing I will say is if you really want lots if time or have a big list to get through try and time it so the sex and the city bus tour isn’t there because the store can get packed around then. They always handle it well but obviously they don’t have quite as much time to devote per customer… I believe you can make bookings in advance for make up though and I know you certainly can for brows. Not sure about everything but I know brow shaping is redeemable on product which is a great deal.
Whatever location Joey is at see him for a brow shape though he really is a best kept brow secret!

I made an appointment to have my makeup done at NARS because I was getting professional headshots taken that day. I specifically booked Joey Esturo because I had read great reviews of him (he now works at the Madison Ave location). He did an amazing job with my makeup! Not only was he extremely talented with the makeup, he was also a very interesting, funny and kind person who completely put me at ease! (I was pretty nervous about my headshots). He listened to what I wanted and figured out how to tailor the look (dramatic, gothic makeup) to flatter my face. I was so happy with it! I would highly recommend Joey to anyone who wants to get their makeup professionally done. I hear that he also gets rave reviews for brow shaping.

I love this store, and I usually do not like free standing makeup stores (ie. MAC stores). First off the store is beautiful inside. They have the entire collection and limited editions only availble at this location (413 Blkr collection) — way more than you’d find at a Sephora. Although it is not a huge store you have plenty of room to browse freely even when the store gets crowded. The artists are also a dream– super talented, helpful and creative– they know their stuff and they are very helpful. This location is WAY bigger than the location on Prince and the staff here is much nicer. It’s worth the trip to West Village.

Well, in case you can’t tell, I’m a makeup fanatic. My face is always painted with the latest and greatest makeup. I ran over to NARS today because I mistakenly thought the new contouring kit came out today. Apparently it comes out on the 20^th. As soon as I walked in, a pleasant saleswoman, who was doing someone’s makeup, said hello to me from across the room. I walked over to inquire about the collection and she said she could give me a preview. I started swatching and all was right with the world.
And then…
I wanted to get NARS Sheer glow. Only. There was no salesperson to help me. They were all busy helping the tourists who were talking about «Marc Jacobs this. Jimmy Choo that» all while holding their honorary tourist Magnolia bakery bags. I get it. They look like they have money and are ready to spend. But didn’t my overly done makeup, designer clothes, and articulate voice give you the impression that I was not just window shopping? Apparently not. I was ignored for a good 15 minutes. At least. It was probably 20 minutes. I literally sat and waited and waited. The woman who was so nice in the beginning even started doing someone else’s makeup! What mean salespeople! I was passed by at least 3 associates. They were so busy getting blush and putting lipstick on Lower East Side’s most annoying residents! This really ruined my day. I left without anyone even noticing.
If it wasn’t bad enough I was the only person of color within a 5 mile radius, then I get ignored by one of my favorite makeup brands! I might go there next weekend, just to confirm whether they are complete and utter racists. Until then, I’d steer clear of this store if I were anyone with melanin.

The staff was polite and immediately greeted me when I came in.
I went to buy concealer and foundation, but also wanted help applying it because when I tried it just didn’t look right. Justin was very helpful in figuring out the right tones, and really understood the look I was going for based on the screenshot I showed him. He even did my brows and blush to complete the look, so that the concealer and foundation made more sense (he was right, things can look a little off with just the foundation and concealer).
Towards the end I didn’t realize what time it was and had to run, and he was able to quickly wrap things up.
Very happy with the choices he made. Would consider going back for his expertise and recommendations if I think of another look I’d want to try.

I love this boutique!!! I’m a pretty shy person and prefer sephora bc YES the customer service is non existent except when it’s time to pay. I like to touch everything and then decide what I like and not be bothered. I came in for a makeup application but came in early so I could pick out my own products without anyone on my back. When I walked in I was greeted by a very tall girl (her name is Michelle I believe) She was friendly and her makeup was exactly what I had pinned on Pintrest and wanted. Long story short, she helped me pick out the products she basically had on her face. Turns out she did my makeup and it was amazing!!! I am new to the red lip and she showed me how to rock it without looking like The Joker. I have a Christmas party I am going to next month for my company and I told Michelle I need her to do her magic again. Who knows maybe I’ll go for a smokey eye next!

I am in LOVE with this store and the artists working there are EXTREMELY creative and talented. Everyone is so much fun at this location I feel like we’ve all been friends forEVA!
Now onto the make up… the COLORS are so much fun. I am always the before picture and after applying NARS I transform into the, after. I cannot leave without buying more pieces to add to my arsenal of makeup.
After my last visit I told them that I was so happy and then when I got home I read the bottom of the receipt: «Follow your instincts Wear whatever makes you Happy…»

This rating is not for the quality of NARS cosmetics, which is absolutely wonderful. It’s for the service received at this location.
I went in needing help and the person «helping» me came across as bored and distracted. He would answer my question while looking in the direction of something he found more interesting, he showed impatience at my indecisiveness, and it was like pulling teeth to get suggestions.
I left without purchasing. Not because I didn’t want some great new products but because I was made to feel like a burden.
Bummer.

So, Oscar and I strolled in here on a Saturday afternoon (I know, what was I thinking going in here on the busiest afternoon on Bleecker???) and immediately we were greeted by not one, by two employees. And yes, Oscar is the most handsome labradoodle in the village which may have had something to do with the greetings.
Not even 30 seconds later, I was whisked into a chair by Maria with Oscar stretched out on the floor. I mentioned that I had a GILT voucher and Maria continued to show enthusiasm in giving me a full facial clean up/​make up application. I was extremely pleased to find that her demeanor with me didn’t change after she found out that I was getting a discount. She was direct and thorough with explaining what she was doing and how it was going to help my skin.
Meanwhile, I had a hard time «looking up» when she asked because I was distracted with the substantial amount of traffic in the store. I was extremely grateful that I got a primo corner spot in the back for my time with Maria.
Two hundred and eighteen dollars later, I hit Bleecker street in a «walk of shame» and equated it to basically blacking out for those twenty minutes. We will just call it a one night stand where I ended up leaving with a flawless face of makeup.

Strolling around the city I happened to pass Nars. When I looked up and saw what I was standing in front of… I had to go in.
I’m a huge makeup addict… hence why I became a makeup artist. So when I get a chance to explore product, I do. In my opinion makeup studios/​counters can be hit or miss and to me it hinges on two things: the product presentation and the staff. I find sometimes the products and displays are messy and disorganized or the staff is a bit standoffish, cool and unwelcoming. None of that existed at Nars and I was so happy that I took the time to pop in there today.
The displays, presentation and cleanliness were spot on. The shop was beautiful to look at, the product looked great and everything was clean. It was easy to see everything, play with the product and take it all in. And as usual, Nars has incredible product… very high quality, great pigment and luxe. I limited myself (which was near impossible) to only one eyeshadow duo and that is only because I spent a load of money earlier on brushes for my kit. Otherwise I would have gone crazy at Nars.
The staff there was warm, kind, conversational and informative. In particular Pierette, the manager, was extremely sweet and very engaging and I really enjoyed the opportunity to be assisted by her. Pierette was very helpful and gave me quality time and attention.
To sum up, if you get the chance to go in to this store don’t pass it up. A great experience, great product and top-​notch staff.

I love this place. I adore NARS, they make high quality makeup with great colors & sleek packaging. I went here today with my mother and we got amazing service. We were not pushed to buy stuff that we didn’t want, and we were shown numerous ways to wear the products we got with products we already have (I own about 50% of their lipsticks…) If you like red lipstick, get the 413 Bleecker gloss, it’s gorgeous and exclusive to the store. Also, the store is organized beautifully, with clean testers and they carry everything.

I have a lot of faves and I used to wear a lot of Nars, but now I haven’t really refill any of my empty faves… since I have makeup galore and I am a hoarder in skincare not makeup.

I know a lot of people like to give &($*%)($% about MAC, but guess what people a lot of people here are ex-​MAC.
People are helpful.

So you know when you go home with someone really, really good looking and wake up to a swamp creature? That’s the magic of NARS makeup.
It can take your average (or below average) looking broad and turn her into an absolute bombshell. It’s the wonderbra of makeup!
They truly have the best products, I am such a slave to them. The packaging is sleek (All black with their logo in white) and they have a million colors of everything. And honestly, who wouldn’t love a product line with such names as «Orgasm», «Deep Throat» and «Sex Appeal») Plus, my girl Kim Kardashian wears Turkish Delight lipgloss, so obviously I rushed out to purchase it! I’m a HUGE fan of their bronzer too. No icky chunks of glitter, just flawless shimmer. And it’s Casino for me, though Laguna has a huge following. In fact, a lot of NARS products have a serious cult following, which is pretty cool too. They win Allure and Glamour beauty awards every single year for their products.
This location is fabulous too. I’d rather come right to the store than go through Sephora. They always have the colors I want in stock and the sales associates are incredibly helpful.

I came here to get my makeup done before an event. I called about 3 weeks in advance for a Saturday 3pm appointment — and I would advise that if you have something big you call in advance — the store gets PACKED on weekends!
Pierette did my make up and she did an AMAZING job. I am usually apprehensive about getting my makeup done because a lot of artists have a hard time figuring out what looks good on my skin tone. After my traumatic incident at MAC a year before (the guy made me look like a hooker tranny… not that there is anything wrong with either but it’s just not my look) I stopped having anyone do my make up.
I told Pierette about this experience and she was very helpful and accommodating. She started out light and said she would add more if I felt comfortable. The end result was a dramatic smokey eye that EVERYONE complimented me on, a great foundation on my face, and perfect shades of blush and lip gloss. I was thrilled and even better yet did not have to go home and wash my entire face off (as I had to do w/​the guy from MAC).
You don’t have to pay for the make up application, but it is encouraged that you buy products (meaning, I technically didn’t have to buy anything but she walked me through everything she put on me and asked me what I was interested in purchasing).
If I have more fancy events you had better bet Pierette is my go-​to girl!

If you like sophisticated studio-​quality, then you might like NARS. This color cosmetics line has come a long way within the past ten years. Opening up to Nordstrom, rolling out with a skincare line, coming out with high-​demand palettes, and now this free-​standing boutique. Give yo’selves a pat on the back.
Ever since the much beleagured departure of Shu Uemura in Soho and the abandonment of Face Stockholm and Makeup ForEver in the downtown areas, it’s great to see a distinct store like NARS pop up. MAC is still great but seems to have gone really mainstream.
The store is designed stark white with black fixtures and occupies a quaint space. I would have given it five stars but it is wayyy down Bleecker St, almost Hudson.
Of course they have their mucho popular blush in Orgasm. Enjoy makeup hounds!
