I have been looking for a barber for a while now. The shop itself is great. The environment the people and the atmosphere. I had Justin and I plan on staying with him. He was quick and outcome was great. I feel happy and confident with my hair cut! Recommend to everyone looking around for a fresh cut at a good price

I’ve been here just 3.5 years and tried 5 different stylists in 4 different salons before I found Neighborhood Cut and Shave. Khalid gave me the best cut I’ve received in the city yet.

My second cut here and my last. The first cut the barber was rude and the second one was basically a $ 12 haircut that I got charged $ 40 for. I am sure there are some good barbers but you need to know who to ask for.

Got an excellent cut and beard trim from Khalid. Beard trims almost always make me nervous, I’ve left other barbershop with my beard just chopped up to nothing. Khalid left it full & glorious while taming enough to be presentable in polite society. Haircut was a high skin fade, finished up with a straight razor shaving alone the sides (that was a first for me) and left me looking and feeling totally back in focus.

I’m from Buffalo and used to things being quite cheaper. I visited here shortly after I moved and wasn’t too happy with the price although I was really impressed with my haircut. I’m not too picky with my hair, I just want it to look good. Since I wasn’t happy with the price I visited a couple other barbers closer to my house that were cheaper and I hated how it was cut.
You get what you pay for. I’m happy with the service and my hair looks excellent after every visit. The complimentary shots of whiskey doesn’t hurt either.

Had an ATM issue and they were extremely cool about it. Let me come back the next day to pay. Best haircut I’ve gotten in NY, by the way, and at fully half the cost of some other 5-​star places in the city.

Nice staff, good vibes but a little pricey for a standard cut.
I paid $ 40 for a trim which would look the same but cost $ 24 less at Astor Cuts. I guess you pay for the ambiance at places like this.

This place looks the part. It’s got that vibe of young men who appreciate the craft. So I had some expectations going in.
I wanted to get a professional shave because I have a potentially life changing meeting tomorrow morning.
Santiago turned my face into a piece of meat. A $ 40 shave shouldn’t look like this.

Khalid is the man and Neighborhood Cut & Shave is throw back cool. Moved to NYC and was in search of a solid cut, came across this barber shop — previously was using a high-​end stylist. Relaxed atmosphere and a professional treatment within a reasonable cost for NYC… and incredibly easy to make appointments on their website.
Randomly gave Khalid a shot and loved it. Nice guy and meticulous with my hair. You can tell he takes pride in listening to your requests and exceeding expectations. Give him a shot… won’t be disappointed.

Super nice guys and great service. I came in for a last minute beard trim and was offered a shot of whiskey upon entry. My service was quick but not rushed. Very happy with the end result and overall experience

I’ve always had pretty standard haircuts, but I’ve been meaning to up my hair game for a while. So I started getting my haircuts here about 6 months ago. What a difference! I never got compliments on my old haircuts, and I’ve gotten a ton since going here.
These guys are excellent. Andrew is an absolute professional, is wonderful at listening to what you have in mind, and is able to give you what you want BUT with a touch of attitude and style that makes his work a cut above (pun intended).

Neighborhood Cut & Shave is the best barbershop. You are dealing the best of the best. I cut my hair on weekly basis and if I am in need of a clean and nice fade this is the place to go. The environment is amazing, the moment you walk in it feels like you are going back couple decades in a small town. The line of barbers are all like brothers, they are well experienced and skilled to meet your custom hair style needs. From a complimentary shot of whiskey to the jazzy/​blues tunes, this is the place to get your hair cut needs.

The barber was amazing, but the receptionist was very inattentive/​uncaring of me. Just me though, not the other clients… I’m not sure if it was an age thing, or a scene thing (the majority of the people that I saw go in and out were all similar in many ways). I just really felt like I did not belong there. Also, never again in my life will i pay 40 $ for a regular men’s cut.

It always comes out perfect and we always get compliments on our hairstyle. Alex is a great guy no doubt. This is a place where you get a great professional haircut and a shot of whiskey. you have to run not walk and give them a try!

Short version: You’ll get a $ 40 haircut by cool professionals in a bespoke setting. The haircut will be good and precise. It’s busy after work but your appointment time will be honored very close to schedule (allowing for the occasional 10 – 15 minutes extra to account for external factors). You’ll tip $ 10. You’ll leave looking and feeling sharper than you did when you arrived.
I’ll begin by saying that I’ve never been a $ 15-​haircut kind of guy, so $ 40 doesn’t seem exceptionally expensive to me. I’m by no means a millionaire, but haircuts in this price range are just factored into my cost of living — which I accept.
I also like supporting small businesses. Alex and his team are humble, hard-​working family men who clearly enjoy what they do and take it seriously. I’m happy giving them my business.
I’ve been going to NCS for almost 3 years. I always request Alex or Fausto and both guys are pros. The haircuts are always precise, the bespoke setting is of the classic American heritage variety, and the full suite of services from the hot eucalyptus towels to the shots of whiskey will make the experience enjoyable from beginning to end.
LITMUS TEST: It never fails, the girls at my office compliment my hair the first morning back to the office after a cut. And they can be discerning.

I’m very used to getting a $ 10 haircut from the older Russian guy in my neighborhood in Queens, so this was quite a contrast.
My hair is not fancy enough to necessitate anything excessive, but if you need a specific style, I recommend. The barber (forgot his name) was pretty precise with the cut.
For the price of a shave, I (perhaps unfairly) expected perfection. After the shave, I could still feel a few whiskers out of the corners of my lips. But the dude (Tom?) was friendly and walked me through the whole process.
Missed out on the free whiskey shot (at least according to previous reviews), but considering I had to go back to work right after, probably for the best.
