The highly experienced, board-​certified dentists and friendly staff at New York Family Dental Arts provide a full range of general, cosmetic and restorative dentistry services, from whitening and bleaching to veneers and dental implants.

For years, we have worked mainly out of our office located in the heart of Westchester, NY. Our dentists have now opened a brand new office on the Upper East Side of New York City. We are excited to add this New York City office to our practice of family dentistry.

Meet the Business Owner

Dr. Irina V. K.

Business Owner

Dr. Irina Vaiman Kessler received her bachelor’s degree from New York University in NYC, NY. She continued on to New York University College of Dentistry following her brother’s footsteps and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1995. Over the years she has continued her education concentrating on Cosmetic Dentistry. In the fall of 2005 Dr. Kessler had completed the NYU Aesthetic Advantage course and joined the ranks of the top cosmetic dentists in New York metropolitan area.

Dr. Kessler’s commitment to learning is the way she stays passionate about dentistry, and knowledge about current dental techniques. She regularly attends educational seminars, and workshops. Dr. Kessler is currently studying at the prestigious Spear Education Center, to provide her patients with the highest standard of advanced comprehensive dental care.

She is a participating member of the American Academy of Cosmetic and General Dentistry.

I’ve been to this dentist four times, in the course of two years. While the office is very clean and up-​to-​date, you’ll find that they have a habit of using their technology in order to bill you rather than for diagnostic purposes. At every turn they come up with something that is a «good idea» that, of course, they don’t mention is not covered by insurance or medically necessary. If you decline because you know your policy, they’re put off, as if they can’t believe you’re thinking about cost!!! The receptionist/​biller is a space cadet: if you ask her to book a certain number of months in advance to meet your policy waiting period, she will screw it up, and you will be stuck paying the bill later. I actually called the practice and asked to speak to Dr. Kessler, was promised a call back — nothing. I wrote a formal letter and hand-​delivered it at my next visit — the doctor read it while she was in another appointment, dismissed it through the receptionist and when she came in to do my ‘exam,’ asked me if I had gone on any vacations this summer, completely failing to acknowledge that I had a complaint about the practice. She barely looked at my teeth, though the new hygienist does a very thorough cleaning.
They were so out of touch with their patients that they gave me two free gift cards to pass out to my family and friends — worth far more than the amount I was asking them to alter on my bill — in order to recommend the practice. (Not for me to use). This is directly after I’d said that I was not going to come back to the practice, something I’d also said I was considering in the letter that they tossed aside.
If you are interested in a dentist who is more engaged in chatting to the long-​time hygienist who assists her with procedures about her children in Westchester than taking care of your teeth, by all means, this is your place.

Dr. Kessler is very competent in the way she assesses the situation and does not second-​guess herself. It made me feel very confident to work with her and go ahead with her suggestions. Dr. Kessler was excellent in explaining dental procedures and all of my options. She and her entire staff were competent and professional at all times. I would recommend her without hesitation. I, too, am surprised by the negative reviews. I’ve seen both Dr. Kessler and Dr. Vaiman and found them to be friendly, professional, and efficient.
The dental hygienist I’ve seen the past couple visits has given very thorough cleanings and has gotten me to improve my habits in a way that no other hygienist has.
Finally, their office staff is wonderful. Sarah has been consistently super friendly and helpful since I started going there a couple years ago.

I am completely surprised by the negative review below. Both my husband and I are patients of Dr. Racanelli’s, and we have had nothing but an excellent experience with Dr. Racanelli and his staff. Everyone in the office — including the secretary, dental hygienists, and Dr. Racenelli himself — is extremely professional, attentive, and kind. During my checkup this year, Dr. Racanelli noted that I needed a filling. He was able to schedule me promptly, and the whole procedure was almost completely painless (or as painless as it could be, considering it was dental work!). It was a small procedure, but he still called me at home later that day to check and see how I was doing. Few doctors of any kind do that anymore. I also have Invisilign (that I requested myself — nobody tried to pressure me into anything) and, again, have had nothing but excellent interactions during my treatment. I would highly recommend Dr. Racanelli to any of my closest friends or family.

I started going to this dental office in September 2011 for routine teeth cleaning, uneventful, staff was unprofessional, eating and chewing gum at the office. Very unsightly. I received a call from them in December 2011, stating that my bill was close to $ 400 for the service. Very costly for just a routine cleaning but anyhow, I called my dental insurance company and everything was settled. I came back in March 2012 for convenience of not finding another dentist, It does not take a smart Dentist to do cleaning anyway, dental hygienists do the job. They recommended the INVISALIGN for me. On April 2nd 2012, I went to talk to Dr. Richard Racanelli about the invisalign for 10 minutes. The secretary handed me a pen and paper and said «NO PRESSURE» this is just to apply for the CARECREDIT (health care credit card). I was supposed to come back and on 4÷5÷12 to have my impressions/​xrays taken to get the INVISALIGN process started but unfortunately I changed my mind. Dr. Racanelli’s fee was $ 5600 for the INVISALIGN. I called the office on 4÷4÷12 that I will not be able to start the process with them. Dr. Racanelli called me on my cellphone on Friday on 4÷7÷12 and I confirmed with him that I will not start the process with them. On 5÷3÷12 I received a call from CARECREDIT that I have a past due balance of $ 5625. THEY DID NOT REFUND ME MY MONEY! Plus a $ 24 late fee. I was in disbelief. I called Dr. Racanelli’s office and they said they can not refund me my money because I agreed to start the process blah blah blah. I asked them to please give me my money back. NO xrays no impressions have been done, I did not even get an INVISALIGN booklet for them to charge me with $ 5600. Now they refunded me with $ 5100. They said the $ 500 is for the transaction fee. I called CARECREDIT to dispute the charge, plus the late fee. I am calling and writing to Better Business Bureau regarding this as well.
