New York Transit responded with my mailed in expired Metro cards accurately. I appreciated this though the wait was quite long. Sent expired cards in to them in April and finally heard back in July! I don’t understand why the cash you put on the cards expires and that you have to mail these cards in for service after a certain time frame. It seems that the face value should remain valid since they already got paid. Oh well at least they do get you your refund eventually. Better than Chicago transit where they never sent me a refund I was due.
