If I could give zero stars that is what Dr. Ben Gangian would receive. I should have listened to all of these reviews but was in pain and desperate. Went in with a tooth ache and after multiple X-​rays, I was told that nothing was wrong and that I just heavily grind my teeth. Ummmm… wrong. Within 30 minutes of a second opinion I clearly had a cavity close to a nerve. I should have listened to the woman who took my X-​rays when she told me to get another opinion. How telling is that?! This place is a joke and can’t even keep their record keeping in order. I was accidentally charged for a cleaning!!! And was told that it will be reversed once my insurance company pays them for my treatment. Give me a break. You screw up at my expense?!! Stay away at all costs. There are wonderful dentists in the city. Don’t lower your expectations.

If I could give «0» stars or a negative number, I would. These are greedy people who do not care about their patients. I was treated by 3 dentists and one endodontist. Two of the dentists were quite competent but one, Dr. Brodsky, did real damage to me. The endodontist, whose name I don’t recall, was a very nice man, but after saying he couldn’t and wouldn’t do a root canal on my tooth, thought better of it and did it any way. It turned out that this root canal was a useless and incomplete attempt that could never have accommodated the post needed to put in a crown. It should never have been done and I was charged and paid almost $ 700. When the treatment plan went south and I tried to get answers, book an appointment for a consultation as to how to move forward, the receptionist blocked access to the dentists, would not book an appointment and kept lying about getting back to me which she never did. This went on for months and they ultimately left me with a broken tooth and abandoned my care altogether. Thankfully, I sought out and found another dentist who is terrific and from whom I am getting excellent treatment. If you are thinking about going to this dental office; don’t.

The most horrific dental experience I have ever had. I went for a cleaning. Dr. Ganjian is so rude. And so rough. He bruised my gums because he was so rough. He put fluoride in my mouth without even asking me if that was ok and I use fluoride-​free toothpaste. And he didn’t even clean my teeth. He just dragged floss through them. I do a better job myself at night. Then I was charged $ 250. And they refuse to refund me more than $ 50. It was truly awful. My teeth aren’t clean and I’m out $ 200.

The business owner sent me a message and instead of apologizing, accused me of working for a dentist. I work as a hair dresser and have never in my life worked for any dental practice. Again, real quality service by Next Generation!

STAY AWAY!!! This is a terrible and unprofessional office. Dr. P. Benjamin Ganjian is out of control. I made an appointment for my husband and gave Dr. Ganjian’s secretary BOTH our insurance cards, Emblem Health NYSHIP (which zocdoc states that they accept) and Blue Cross Blue Shield, before beginning any treatment. Then after the treatment, he announced to us that we don’t have dental coverage, which is clearly not the case. We got a dose Dr. Ben’s unhinged, erratic behavior that is described below in some of the other reviews: a weird combination of manic friendliness that instantly turns into crazed, determined hostility. He was also disorganized and agitated — he couldn’t focus on the task at hand — he couldn’t stay through a phone call to our insurance without getting exasperated and hanging up on his own phone call, just moments after dialing! I don’t know how this escalated to a confrontation, but clearly this happens regularly with him because
1. When the secretary was cleared out of the room, an older gentleman appeared (whom he described as the owner of the business), standing up behind him, ready to jump into the frey, which he did.
2. After he told us that our plans have no dental, he called the secretary to say «bring out the phone, I’m recording!» (ie. tape-​recording the conversation).
It was unreal — this was supposed to be a routing visit to the dentist, not a visit to Tony Soprano! My husband is a very calm person, but when my husband asked him «is this not bullying?», he threw a tantrum, screamed «get out» and called him an asshole! This sounds unbelievable, but apparently, he kicked Melissa L. out of the office too (her review below). I can’t believe this guy still has a practice. My husband was supposed to see Dr Paul Ganjian but we got a call 2 hours before the appointment to say that Dr Paul could not make it and another dentist would be at the appointment.
I wish that we had read the reviews on Unilocal before going.

I had the pleasure (sarcasm) of speaking to the owner of the practice today. Imagine the most rude and obnoxious person you have ever met and multiple by at least 10. That will give you an idea of who I spoke with. He called me dense because I asked him a question. This is how you treat your customer base? I called back to make sure it was, in fact, the owner I spoke with and not a random stranger who walked in and answered the phone. It was indeed the owner and I told the receptionist that I was sorry she was stuck working for him.

Stay Away! This place does not deserve one star. I chose this place because of the convenience to my home and Sunday hours. I went one day because I was having jaw discomfort (turns out I’m a grinder at night). Dr. Ben decided I needed a root canal… I had no tooth pain and no root canal symptoms, except he said he saw a shadow on the root on an X-​ray. Being naïve and never having had dental work, I trusted and agreed. I have a high pain tolerance but experienced a lot of throbbing pain for a week with this root canal. The whole process dragged on for 3 months! He kept having me come back. Then he shaped what was left of my tooth and placed a temporary crown, which fell off in the office. So he took an impression for a permanent crown and sent me away without any crown at all. I finally got the permanent placed just to have it fall out a week later (right before my wedding). I also moved from NYC at the time. so after my honeymoon, I consulted a new dentist who told me there was not enough tooth left to apply a crown and recommended me just getting the tooth pulled! Dr. Ben maxed out my insurance. I paid out of pocket and he gave me a cheap night guard but charged me like it was an expensive one!

I would have wrote a post sooner but tried to forget the whole experience! I (I just received an email for my 6 mo appointment reminder, NO thank you!) I had the dentist they referred to as «Dr. Ben» and it all started when he received a phone call (which he took while my mouth was wide open and I was drooling on myself) that upset him. He treated his staff horribly, It was so bad I thought I might be on candid camera as he was yelling and throwing temper tantrum. He never even said good-​bye when he left the room, he just told his aide to «show her the video on gingivitis» I didn’t say a thing but they will never see my business again!

I am a new patient of Dr. Ganjians and have had a very positive experience getting cavities filled for the first time. The staff is very friendly and efficient, and Dr. Ganjian does his work mercifully quickly. The results are gorgeous, and I would recommend him to anyone in the market for a quick painless dental experience.
The only reason I’m not giving five stars? The first time I went in, I had a wait an hour for my mid-​day appointment, forcing me to leave to make a meeting without having seen the dentist. Frustrating, but the staff’s kindness and ease after the fact have made it all worth it.

I’d prefer to give them negative stars. The fillings done fell out. Excessive novocaine used and poorly administered. Excessive x-​rays exposing me to radiation. I was told they take my insurance which actually declined them. There were items on the bill which weren’t done. They were trying to max out my insurance. They are now asking me to pay a made up and excessive bill. I had to go to another dentist to fix the work they did. Avoid this place at all costs.

I am a patient of Dr. Paul Ganjian for over 10 years now. I remember the very first office that I have met him at on 96^th street and was very happy when he set up his own practice. I am always welcome at the office and the staff is very nice. Dr. Paul is very attentive and always reviews the treatment plan before its implementation. I am happy to say that I am not afraid to show off my smile in public.

This is the WORST dentist I have ever been to in my life!
They lost my records/​x-​rays that I brought on my first/​only visit. I am suing them for that.
I went for an initial exam and cleaning after being impressed by their website. This dentist should stop practicing and open a DDS marketing company, because that is what they do best.
I may come back and add to this review when I have a few minutes but EVERYTHING about this place is WRONG!

Spent over 2 hours in the office, got two minutes of «treatment» –i.e., Dr. Julia Sivitz tapped my teeth and checked my gums. Did not get the cleaning I was promised. And they had the audacity to demand $ 150. I have protested repeatedly, and people have promised to get back to me – but no response.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!! I deeply regret not finding these reviews prior to making an appointment at this office with Paul Ganjian.
Do not go here unless you want the biggest hassle, it’s ridiculous. Never in my life have I witness a medical office to lie and attempt to rip you off in such manner. I found Dr. Ganjian on ZocDoc after doing a search based on the health plan. Dr. Ganjian showed up in the results with an «In Network» mark next to the health plan. I made an appointment and soon after the receptionist called back. I asked her if the dr accepts the specific insurance and she said yes and that she will check with the insurance to verify patient membership.
To make a long story short after the first visit they claimed they do not accept this insurance and that it is out of network. If ZocDoc had the incorrect information, it is the responsibility of the office to correct it and to tell me the truth when I asked. I specifically asked not once but many times if they accepted this insurance and asked if they are IN-​NETWORK, I wouldn’t’ have chosen this dentist otherwise.
They bluntly lie and try to sucker you in and rip you off with ridiculous fees. How can this office NOT know if they are part of an insurance plan? When I asked why didn’t you tell me you do not take this plan they saying that they couldn’t verify patent insurance? That has nothing to do with it; the office should KNOW which insurance plans they accept, which they are in-​network/​out-​of-​network. Avoid this place … The first clue that this is a bad dental practice should have been that they had a same day appointment. Good dentists are booked months in advance. Eeeek, what a joke of an dental office.

Update — his office just today called me and threatened legal action if I dont take down my review.

Since writing this 2 years ago I have had probably 5 people reach out to me privately on Unilocal with similar horror stories. There are probably 30 fake positive (they were ‘filtered’ out by Unilocal) reviews on this page. This review isnt going anywhere.

I don’t know what other people were talking about here. They are either lying or have another agenda. I have been to Next Generation Dental and it was a pleasant experience. Yes, a dental experience that was pleasant. The work that was done was excellent and pain free. They have state of the art equipment and are very experienced. If you go to Next Generation Dental, then I’m sure you will be as happy as I was.

I only wish I could give NO star to this place.
My whole experience there was truly horrendous. It was so bad that after my last (thank god, finally!) appointment with Dr. Ben Ganjian today, the very first thing I did was signing up a Unilocal account to post my first review, JUST TO TELL EVERYONE DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!
Please save yourself and do not make the same mistake I made.
Considering its very convenient location, I chose Dr. Ben from Next Generation to conduct an Invisalign treatment on me. He was only patient and thorough in the first complimentary consultation. Ever since I made the initial payment, which is 50% of the total cost, he had become a completely different man. He rushed through every single appointment, threw me 8 other aligners, asked the assistant to schedule the next appointment in another 3 – 4 months and called it the day.
Throughout my 1-​year Invisalign experience with him, the average time he spent on each appointment was about 2 mins, while these appointments were in general 4 months apart from each other.
What you just read is not the worst part yet.
After the treatment was completed, Dr. Ben told me that I will receive two sets of retainers if I chose to use plastic instead of metal for the retainer material. I had an impression taken and was told that the retainers will be ready in about a month.
I waited for almost 2 months. Nothing.
I called the clinic to check and somebody told me they are checking and will call me right back. Waited another week. Nothing.
I called again and they did the same trick several more times — told me they are checking and will call me «right back». Eventually someone told me on the phone that they haven’t been able to locate the retainers and it seems they might have never sent the impression out. Then after another week or so, a lady called and told me that they had finally found the retainers. It turned out they were received long time ago but were never checked in.
So I finally got to go to the clinic to pick them up. However, instead of 2 sets as previously told, I only received one. Dr. Ben explained absolutely nothing about it. He rushed through the appointment as usual and told me to come back in 3 months.
When I returned in 3 months — wait for it – Dr. Ben cannot find the retainer AGAIN. He tried to tell me that I might have only ordered one set, while I explained to him, no, you told me it automatically comes in 2 should I choose plastic. Only metal retainer comes in 1 set, remember? Without any explanation, he walked out the room and simply left me sitting there.
After 15 mins, an assistant came in and told me they need to take my impression again. I tried to ask why but everyone ignored my question. When I was on my way out, I tried to find Dr. Ben and raised my question again. In a very impatient tone, he mumbled something like It just has to be this way and then he quickly left. I was told to come back in a week to get the 2^nd retainer.
Is the story over yet? Unfortunately not.
When I came back to try the retainer on, the bottom one did not fit at all. Dr. Ben tried to shave it, melt it with hot water and ask me to put it on for like 100 times. This joke went on for about 30 mins. At the end, he told me they will give me another bottom retainer because he wants it to be «perfect». I was asked to take an impression AGAIN. At this point, my mouth was just way too exhausted from this whole crazy ordeal to argue anymore.
Today, I picked up the bottom retainer. He put it on me and asked me to get out of there (like, literally, word to word). A new record was just set, he spent about 20 seconds on my last appointment.
I just wanted to tell Dr. Ben that I cannot wait to get the heck out of your crappy place and you can bet that i will never set my foot in it ever again in this life!!!
I only wish I had read Unilocal before and trusted other horrible review about this place. Indeed, the worst experience ever.

drs. paul and ben ganjian should not be, under any circumstance, practicing dentistry. the worst dentists i have ever known. the office will rip you off and you will most likely need to go to a specialist to have your teeth fixed further by the mess these two will do to your teeth. i could write a 20 page document on what happened to me here but will sum it up by saying SAVE YOUR TEETH (because they will ruin your teeth with their complete incompetence), MONEY (because they will charge you an arm and a leg for every procedure and will tell you they take your insurance when they actually do not), TIME (because you will be there MANY times for one simple procedure because they cannot complete anything correctly or quickly no matter how small or large the issue). DO NOT GO HERE!!! I welcome any and all questions if you want more details about this. I want to spread the word that this place is TERRIBLE!!!
