Nina and Allen Rothman – Halstead Property

When faced with the daunting task of cleaning out and breaking down my Dad’s Upper Eastside co-​op apartment and getting it on the Real Estate market my brother and I both, independently, had set aside mailings from the Rothman’s as a viable option. Since my brother and I rarely agree on anything, I took this as a sign that these were the folks for us, and my intuition proved correct! When I met with Nina I was impressed with her friendliness, understanding of our situation (my brother lives in MA and I am at least an hour and one half away) and her ability to prioritize the tasks at hand in order to transform a dark, trapped in the seventies, cluttered apartment into a bright, open, charming space. Nina was always available and returned calls immediately. She was able to oversee all of the contractors and to recommend reliable ones. She worked cooperatively with all of the building staff and organized all of the removal of unwanted furniture, clothing, books etc… much of which was donated to a local thrift shop who hauled those items away and gave us a receipt as well! They worked very hard for us and definitely earned their fee. I would highly recommend them.

Nina and Allen were referred to us and from the first phone call with them we knew they had our best interest at heart. We live in Ohio and we inherited a co-​op apartment which was in very poor estate condition. Imagine the logistics problems in getting the unit prepared for sale. Nina and Allen provided spot-​on advice on economical ways to update and stage the unit for quick sale. No task, from picking up items at Home Depot to arranging for the best deals on subcontractor work was too large or too small for them to handle. They kept us constantly informed with progress and volunteered to personally resolve all issues that arose. The unit sold at the first open house at a great price thanks to all that they had done. We highly recommend them, as they provided the best experience that we have ever had in selling a property.

Recently, my husband, as Executor of an estate was required to sell an upper west side apartment. He needed the sale to occur swiftly and effortlessly. Since we live outside of the city, logistics were not easy. He was introduced to Nina and Allen through a mutual friend. Suffice to day, the entire experience from his first meeting to the recent closing went smooth and hassle-​free. Not only was a buyer found promptly, Nina and Allen worked effortlessly to make the apartment as presentable as possible. With approval, a painter and handyman were brought in to dispose of unwanted furniture and to «spruce» up the apartment to make it so much more presentable. We were kept in the loop every step of the way. Needless to say, the sale was for more than we could have anticipated. Nina and Allen handled everything from «soup to nuts» and were a pleasure to work with. If you have real estate to sell, give them a ring!

Recently a close relative died and as you can imagine it’s been very difficult to deal with. An apartment is involved and although I didn’t think much about it it wasn’t unexpected that there was interest in it — what I didn’t expect were the relentless vultures coming out of the woodwork who make their money bombarding and harassing the bereaved almost immediately after their loved one’s death. Seriously these scavengers were swooping down upon us even before any paperwork had been completed or made official.
It’s clear that the MO is to try to catch people who are grieving and not thinking clearly so they can make a grab for the estate and property. People in my family were harassed via calls and received loads of mail with false sympathy segueing quickly into a sales pitch. It was astounding how quickly they got our personal information had the nerve to call.
These people at Halstead property are among those vultures searching for death and preying upon the grief stricken. They get a gold star for callousness by having the gall to send emails (hate to think how they got that info) following a phone call where they were told the contact was inappropriate and unwanted.
Reprehensible and cruel.
