I had burned my hand with a frying pan and he told me he has a really good cream (his own brand) that he sells for $ 100. I didn’t buy it. I then applied a cream I had at home (bepanthol) and my hand was completely cured by the next day. I agree with the other reviewers that he is very money driven.

This doctor is rude, impersonal & can be inappropriately sarcastic. He rushes and barely lets you speak without talking over you. Bad experience — def NOT baby/​children friendly — do not traumatize your children by bringing them here like I have.

Like many Unilocalers, if I could, I would give Dr. Scheinfeld NEGATIVE stars. As others noted, his staff was wholly inconsiderate, rude, dismissive, and acted like children. In our exam with the Doctor, my baby’s conditions were not explained in a way a patient could understand (used every vocabulary word he learned in medical school).
I brought in my 4-​month old baby as I was concerned about his eczema. Scheinfeld says «well, he can’t have eczema until he can itch» — as my baby proceeds to scratch his skin, Scheinfeld revises his response and says «well, I guess your baby has eczema!»
As he shoves a form in my face asking me to sign it, there was one kind and helpful medical assistant who suggested that he take the time to explain what was on the form instead of just attempting to produce a signature on it. I did appreciate her (and ONLY her) customer service acumen.
The icing on the cake was his «medical advice» suggesting that I bathe the baby in BLEACH!
In short, for you, your infant, and your family, go to another dermatologist. Maybe suggest him to your enemies?

I wish I could give negative stars! What a dismissive rude guy!!! I went in with my baby with many concerns. One area of concern was his chest and back which I stated. He didn’t even let me undress him so that he could see what I was dealing with. He came in took a hard Q-​tip rubbed very hard on his face and off he went. He was in and out in less than 2 mins and never came back! I actually sat there waiting for him to actually do an exam on my 2 month old, but someone from support staff came in and said «are you still here?» WHAT??? What about an exam that you charged my insurance plan for? What a waste of my time! I am sure these 5 star reviews are friends of his! Shame on you! Wish I read these awful reviews before I went in with my precious baby. Rip off!

I actually liked the doctor.
But every bill is a trumped up runaround. Insurance tells you they code things wrong. The office tells you to pay a discounted bill. Prudently, you question this practice. And in doing so with you end up getting screamed at by the office workers. Like just happened to me. I’ll never go again. and I’ll fight this ridiculous bill to the most bitter end.

I don’t know why, but there is something about Dr. Scheinfeld I just love. First, the basics… you never have to wait to see him. You are in and out which is great if you’re going during your work day and need to get back to work. But also, he’s just a very unique doctor in that he really seems to care about the science around what he is doing. He is both genuinely inquisitive and serious, yet light-​hearted in the same breath… he’ll give you his opinion but on the other hand also allows you to come to your own conclusions. He sometimes spews out a bunch of information and you don’t always know exactly what it all means, but you know he’s right and on the money, because all the times I’ve seen him for skin conditions, they cleared up pronto, things that countless other dermatologists had failed to accurately diagnose. (And that’s the highest praise I can think of!!) He has a kind of authoritative presence – when he gives his opinion on things in the field — whether they are skin products or procedures – I can always tell that he knows what he’s talking about and I trust him! Also, he’s just plain interesting… speaks his mind, is always well meaning, and above all gets the job done. I’m surprised by some of the negative reviews – i think people don’t «get» him because he’s not all warm and fuzzy in the typical sense of the words, but should doctors really be in the same category as stuffed animals? He may not greet you like a long lost friend, but that’s because he’s busy being practical and treating you and just getting the job done! Also, if you talk to him for more than a minute, it’s pretty obvious that he IS warm and caring – it’s just not in some fake-​o, New York, I’m gonna pretend to be your best friend way, like another doctor of mine does. This doctor makes you wait two hours, and then when you go in to see her is all, «Hi honey, how are you?» I’d prefer someone who is knowledgeable and fast, someone who doesn’t sink to ridiculous platitudes and has something interesting, authentic and different to share with the world. You’re the best Dr, Scheinfeld – don’t change a thing!

I heart Dr. Scheinfeld — he helps me with all my issues! He really is a great doc and his office is friendly and inviting. He always gives me samples and takes care of everything i need. He takes his time and lets me ask stupid questions. And he’s accomidating about not using antibiotics to treat my skin. I’ve been a patient for years, I’d never go to anyone else!

I was grateful to this doctor for helping me with my skin because it has gotten alot better, but this doctor is a crook.
He was making me come in every two weeks, which I after a while I realized was too often. The last time I went in for an appointment, I was told that I had to pay a huge deductible because he had performed minor surgery 3 times… but in reality he never did. He seems like the type of doctor who is more concerned about making big bucks from his patients while curing them because he simply can. I respect his degrees and work, but I think the money has corrupted him.
Also, he has horrible bedside manner. I understand and respect that everyone has a different personality, but he is extremely socially awkward, cold and robotic, which prevents him from being a good doctor.
I would be careful when visiting this doctor, and make sure that you are only being charged for work that was actually done!!!

Dr. Scheinfeld knows his craft, this was one of the most efficient and effective doc appts I ever have had. The follow up by him was the nicest surprise, when he couldn’t get me on the phone he shot me an email. No phone tag or delays, we did connect and his staff got me an RX filled at the local CVS even though I was on vacation in another state.

I really wish I had looked at these reviews instead of Zocdoc before going. They are absolutely accurate: doctor lacking in basic courtesy, gave a very cursory look at my moles, spent 3 minutes in the room without introducing himself, attempted to diagnose me with 3 skin conditions that I patently do not have while ignoring my chief complaint. Corporate-​feeling office with exhortations for you to get botox. Ugh.

Worst experience ever! I would NOT recommend Dr. Scheinfeld. He has horrible bedside manner, was in an argument with a patient on the phone while I was sitting in the office. I had a simple cyst removal procedure done that turned out 1000 times worse. I will NOT be returning to him now or anytime in the future.

I came here years ago for a minor appointment, and my experience was overall positive albeit rushed and impersonal. But I didn’t go to my recent appointment. Instead, I canceled due to the children on his staff. Because of them alone, his lousy Unilocal reputation is very accurate. Doctor, perhaps you think the world is full of children — children to run your office, and children as patients. Well, I happen to be an educated adult, and we value people who follow-​up, completely answer the right question, and are given the decency of basic customer service.
–When I scheduled the appointment, I asked the boy on the phone for a pre-​estimate from my insurance company before I came in for the non-​essential procedure. If it was considered cosmetic, I would be OOP and wanted to know how much in advance.
–I called back 24 hours before the appointment, spoke to the same boy, and he nervously said the office would do this, but hadn’t yet.
–Then later that day I got a call from a girl to confirm my appointment, to which I explained that there was still info their office failed to answer which would determine if I would or wouldn’t still come in. She didn’t seem to understand what I was saying, and instead got snotty, basically telling me that her job was only to confirm appointments.
–Then I finally got a call back at 4pm from yet a different girl to tell me what my office co-​pay would be (which I already knew), and that any other info would need to come directly from my insurance company. First off, I don’t know how Dr. Scheinfeld codes certain procedures when submitting to insurance companies, nor do I know his fees for specific procedures, nor his assessment of what procedures to do. This is a dialogue between insurer and doctor. This is not my first rodeo, and don’t like being ignored by the children running his office when these are perfectly reasonable, common questions that many mildly-​educated adults ask doctors.
It’s amateur hour over there I guess.

I called my insurance company about the bill I received from Dr. Scheinfeld, and they explained that any injection a doctor gives you is automatically considered «surgery.» Therefore, whatever injections that Dr. Scheinfeld gave me WITHOUT my permission allowed him to bill my insurance company for $ 1,500 worth of «skin surgery.» He knew exactly what he was doing. He deliberately gave me injections without asking my permission in order for my bill to be higher. I have never in my life encountered a doctor like this. He’s a crook. DO NOT GO HERE!

I had to amend my review after a recent visit to Dr. Scheinfeld. Some good, mostly really really bad.
He still remains the only doctor who has properly recognized my condition (HS is not very widely studied and most doctors just pass it off as acne). Previously, I was hoping to not have to make monthly visits because my work schedule is crazy, but as of late I learned that the medications that are being prescribed to me will never be given for more than 1 month at a time due to the fact that there is really no study done on the long term effects. So my frustration was really unjust, and its better than I do have monthly visits for my safety. I did have several visits that were just fine, albeit very short.
However, the way I was treated during my last visit made me so upset it literally took me 4 months to get over it and come here to post. This sounds melodramatic, but it was absolutely a HORRIBLE experience.
For starters, when I went to pay for the office visit (no insurance at the time), and my debit card was declined. I was 100% positive that I had money in my account, so I asked the girl behind the desk to run it again and see if it would go through while I opened up my banks app on my phone. Sure enough, I had money — but it was declined again. This time, the girl who was handling my payment literally sneered at me and didn’t even ask if I could pay in cash as she handed me back the card, just said «declined!» in a snotty tone. Whatever, I ran to the ATM 2 doors down and got cash out, back in 5 minutes. (Side note: turns out that evening my bank was having a problem processing merchant payments but not with ATM withdrawls. For once, I actually wasn’t broke!). Paid, sat back down. The office staff (with the exception of one girl who is always polite and helpful) is always kind of rude and uninterested in helping you. Mostly they are busy talking to each other or texting. Whatever, that I can overlook.
What I can’t overlook is what happened during my actual visit. Dr. Scheinfeld came into the exam room, asked how my condition was and then pressed me to get cortisone shots (which are a temporary fix and not exactly fun to receive in multiple locations). Asking me if I wanted them would have been fine, but when I said no because I didn’t have the money and I didn’t think that it really helped the last time he did it (a month prior to this visit) he was extremely curt with me, and it was obvious he was not happy that I did not want the shots.
I asked him to take a look at a different issue on my leg, which he looked at and then said «oh i can prescribe you a topical cream for that», and then walked out of the room. Didn’t tell me what it was, how to prevent/​avoid it, how to treat it… just nothing. I waited a few minutes… he never came back. The nurse eventually came in to tell me that I could get dressed and head to the front desk to get my prescriptions.
When I had changed and was getting ready to walk out of the room (had put on my coat and opened the door to the exam room before I zipped my coat), Dr. Scheinfeld walked by the open door, threw up his hands, and said (in the most annoyed tone of voice you could imagine) «well, we’re done here!» and then continued on into his office. I was absolutely stunned at the lack of professionalism. He couldn’t even be bothered to end the visit by telling me when to come back in (reception did that) or saying goodbye in a normal manner.
Look, I get that they are not making a ton of money on me because I’m just coming for a visit and prescriptions but I expect to be treated the same as every other patient (and I’ve seen/​heard him and staff be very nice and thorough with other patients). And for the record, I paid $ 150 for less than FIVE MINUTES of this man’s time. I’d be more than willing to pay this rate IF and ONLY IF the doctor was actually giving me information and proper attention as a patient — not for someone who offhandedly spoke to me about my health and essentially walked out.
The doctor and his staff treated me like someone they did not want to deal with, or like I was annoying them or wasting their time. I feel like that is unacceptable when receiving medical care. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Dr. Scheinfeld or recommending him to any of my friends as I had in the past. And my review is 100% the truth and not exaggerated in any way. I really did spend the last few months (my last visit was in February I think…) debating if I should post this or not, because I hate to write negative reviews. But I guess every once in a while you have to.

Dr. Scheinfeld and his staff were friendly enough but certainly work in a professional manner. After examining my skin, he offered me some over the counter options and said if it doesn’t help he could always phone in something prescription level for me to try. No unnecessary forms to fill out and certainly no surgical consent forms. After the examination he even offered Q&A in case i had any other questions while I had his attention.
These other reviews leave me a I’m a bit confused by some of these patients who seemed reluctant to ask questions and request a better understanding of their own procedures and their insurance coverage before allowing treatment to begin.
I can see why he’s probably a bit nerdy for some, but aside from his staff being a bit too eager to call in my prescription to a specific pharmacy, I found him to be efficient and helpful.

I just received a call on my direct work line from Dr. Scheinfeld. He read my Unilocal review, identified me, pulled my contact info from my chart, and called me to «rectify the situation».
He started from the angle of asking if his treatment fixed my issue. As I told him, «one issue seems to be resolved. The other was not, and I will probably need to see another doctor.»
He then went the route of earnestly defending himself (not in an abrasive way… but earnestly), explaining that he had been trying to do his best to give me quality care.
This may be the case, from his vantage point. I gave a fair and honest review of my visit, and I want to be fair with this update. In doing so, I have to mention that I was supposed to have called a while ago to schedule a follow up, never did, and never received a call to see how I was doing… but I get a direct call after my unfavorable review is discovered.
Besides this action being well outside of the standard procedure for businesses responding to Unilocalers, it was quite unsettling that a doctor would contact me in such a way. This does not feel like an appropriate way to use private patient information.
Had he called to say he read my review, reviewed my case, had thoughts as to another course of treatment, and asked me to come in pro bono to give him another opportunity, I would’ve completely rethought my opinions on him as a physician, and taken him up on such an offer in hopes of keeping him as my dermatologist.
This subtly defensive approach — especially well after it would be normal for a doctor to follow up with a patient who didn’t schedule a necessary secondary appointment — still has my skin crawling in an UBER «stranger danger» sort of way.
ps — Right after submitting this update, he sent me an email to express his wishes that he had better addressed my medical needs, and to wish me luck in my future medical ventures. My gut tells me that this guy seriously means well… but these just don’t feel like appropriate interactions from a physician to a patient, especially a former one. Buyer beware.

My experience with Dr Scheinlfeld has been mixed at best and generally unpleasant. I went in for a small plantar wart. The Dr pared the wart (i.e. carved out skin) on two occasions causing extensive bleeding which, by his own admission, was not supposed to occur. This affected my ability to step on the foot for a number of days and I had to miss out on a diving trip (which I had told the Dr about).
I did complain to Dr Scheinfeld who was responsive enough to send me information about the efficacy of paring plantar warts and also to threaten legal action when I told him that I refused to pay my remaining co-​pay balance (c.$ 30.) given the results of the procedure. Ultimately I did pay my balance in full and in a timely manner and, over time, the wound caused by the paring healed and the wart was cured. Yet, I am questioning the methodology and whether the extensive paring was due to carelessness and could have been avoided. All in all, I would NOT recommend this Dr.

If I could give Noah a 0 (zero) star I would. This guy is a total joke. He is not about helping his patients; he is only about making a buck. My skin is moderate and occasionally I have some blemishes. He tried to convince me to start accutane, that could be right for some people but I do not have nodular acne and the side effects are way risky. He convinced me over and over that I needed accutane, I almost went ahead with it (against my family/​friends advice), last min before starting, I opted out. He was upset because I wouldn’t be coming in regularly for the next 6 months for him to be able to charge me up the yin — yang. He might spend 6 min with you and he is completely awkward the entire time. I’m going to call him Noah, not Dr., will not listen, he will just talk at you.
Be forewarned.

I found this doctor thru my insurance company. I wish I had read the reviews on google before going.
First off, his reception staff it rude. They talk to you without looking you in the eye. You just hear them talking loudly about their personal business in the waiting room.
I felt very rushed with the doctor. He took literally less than 3 minutes with me. He took a sample of my cheek and then asked me to sign a waiver so he is not held responsible for scarring. He could have taken a smaller sample and now I am stuck with a scar on my face.
I will never go back.
