One Mile House

Great selection of beers on tap, the beers are great and maintain them well so you always get a fresh beer. They go old school on the cash register which is kind of cool. Didn’t eat so nothing to say about the food. Bartenders know there stuff.

Excellent tap list, good service, tasty food, and a properly cozy pub atmosphere. The bathrooms are clean and large especially for a pub.

Great atmosphere. Started going there because they offered my favorite beer, Tank 7 from Boulevard. They no longer have it but still a nice spot.

I’d only been to One Mile House a handful of times before it became my de facto after work bar. It’d be understatement to say that I enjoy working in the area because of One Mile. The selection of craft beer is almost always impressive. The prices are pretty standard for the pour sizes, and the offerings are ran through fairly quickly. This can be both a blessing and a curse. It’s cool to come back to a bar a few days later into the week to see almost entirely new taps. It’s not cool to come to a bar a few hours after they tap something to see that it’s already been 86ed. But that definitely happens with the rarer offerings that are becoming more well-​known (anything Hill Farmstead, for instance). But you can’t really blame a bar steps from the Bowery Ballroom for getting a crazy weekend crowd. Hopefully they start getting larger allocations of the more desirable beers, but even before that happens, this is still a great place to drink something delicious. Shockingly enough, it’s also a great place to eat something delicious in a ‘I feel the pressure in my arteries building as we speak’ sort of way. But you’re already there drinking, so, in for a penny, in for a pound, yes?

Fantastic craft beer bar with about 20 lines of local and national brands. Very knowledgeable staff and small neighborhood feel despite the size. No after work madness here.

Great spot for beer and food. Tap list is one of the best in NY. They have something for everyone. They are always having craft beer events and get there early for a good seat. Small bar area, but they also have tables along the walls. Definitely a go to spot for craft beers. PROST!

The single best craft beer bar/​restaurant I visited while vacationing in NY. I happened to go when they were having an anniversary tapping, so the lineup up was one of a kind. Mexican Cake, HF Double Galaxy, and Marshal Zhukov (to name a few) on tap — YES please!

We came here for the Goose Island event last week. Overall, this was an extremely well run event, with reasonably priced 5 oz. pours for BCBS and its variants. Despite the crowd that arrived, the staff was extremely attentive and made sure to serve us and everyone else.
In addition, the staff ran a lottery system to have a bottle of BCBS Rare for on-​site consumption. The bottle was pricey (!!) but we ended up winning the bottle and got to share it with some others and our bartender.
Overall, great bar with great staff. Will have to come back and check out their taplist.

Came here on thanksgiving eve for a goose island event where they were releasing their infamous bourbon county beers. We ordered their truffle fries which were great and then the cheese curds. This was the first time I actually got the curds where they weren’t fried and served with a dipping sauce. We were a little befuddled when they came and she says people expect the fried ones all the time. I don’t know why they wouldn’t list this on their menu. She said to put them over the fries and it will be ok but that wasn’t the case. I’ll be back for the beer but not so much for the food.

Two things I like about this place: Happy hours until 7pm on weeknights and the ability to order beers in a flight of four. Flights give you the chance to try more so you’re not stuck with a pint of something you haven’t tried before that turns out not to your liking.
The location is perfectly located right outside the J/​Z Bowery subway exit and the happy hour chalkboard outside drew me in. Otherwise I don’t believe there are many other offices in the area to draw in a happy hour crowd because when I was there at 6pm, the bar had maybe three other people.
Wide variety on the tap list which updates daily and the fancy wooden board the flights are served on with the name of the beers written next to each glass for the short termed memory folks like me would definitely have me coming back when I’m in the area.

A big group of friends gathered at One Mile House for my birthday around 9pm on a Saturday night. They were able to accommodate our large group, and even provided a high chair for a little who tagged along for a late dinner with her parents. The cocktails were strong and made consistently every time. They were able to keep separate tabs at the bar and/​or with the server for our table. Overall, it was a great place to enjoy drinks with a large group of friends!

One of the better bars I have ever been to overall. For downtown, this place is like the Waldorf Astoria.
Allagash White and Sierra Nevada on tap? Decently clean all over, including the rest rooms? Great ambience? Cute male bartender who actually got the order right? I don’t think I could ask for any more…

I absolutely love One Mile House.
I love One Mile House so much that I almost don’t know what to say about it because everything about this place is stupendous.
The beer selection is always fantastic, on tap or bottled. I am a huge fan of sours, and I can pretty much count on at least one of them being available whenever we go. There is also usually a couple of local brews on tap at any time (Third Rail, Singlecut, Other Half).
The food is also fantastic. I highly recommend the burger. It’s a simple, classic burger but it’s juicy and delicious, and comes with a sea of fries. Other great options include the truffle fries and any of the flatbreads.
OMH also has a bunch of events featuring excellent things like sour beers and hot dogs. Last year they had an early release party for Goose Island’s BCBS and variants.
I also had my birthday party here. It was very easy — I emailed to reserve some tables, and got a couple tables for my guests.

This place is amazing. Busy or not they always give great service, great food, and great beer!

When you realize you’re with a 27yo whose visiting from out of town and can’t find his license you’re sent back to your old high school days,“where can we go that won’t card us?”
I guess that’s a better sentence than, «It’s friday night and I just want to cozy up to my netflix account…»

One of my most favorite craft beer bars in the city. The beer menu is the star — the rotating draft menu is always diverse (in both brand AND style) and interesting. They have an extensive bottle list as well. The cocktails sound interesting, but… I’ve never made it past the beer here. The food is above-​average bar fare. You’ll have a perfectly good meal, but I wouldn’t come here just for a meal.
The ambience is perfect — they describe themselves online as «the soul of a prohibition era watering hole» and, well… I’d like to think my grandparents would agree. I love that the bar feels like a throwback establishment in a very natural, unforced way — nothing precious or forced or hipsterish. Despite its lovely décor and ambience, this bar feels like it’s not primarily about scene or style. It’s about drinking. Enjoying your beverage. Enjoying socializing while you enjoy your beverage.
The service is excellent as well. Kevin in particular is everything I imagine a bartender should be — charming and witty and (naturally) Irish. You won’t even vaguely mind as he flirts harmlessly with your girlfriend. You’ll just appreciate bantering with him as you try the freely offered beer samples and wind up ordering the beer he originally recommended.
As a final cherry on top, the bar holds out the goal of striving for membership in the OMH Society. You can keep track of the beers you drink there — once you reach 100, you attain membership and, I believe, a sweet silver beer stein. If there’s one thing I like more than a night of drinking, it’s a place that provides me with serious, long-​term drinking goals.

My friends and I came here 2 weeks ago, while waiting to get called for our table at The Boil. We never expected to wait here for 2 hours though. haha So in the meantime, we ordered a couple drinks and I, of course, being the fat one. orders food.
The bar is separated into 2 sides, with a separate, decent sized dining room for sit-​down dinners. They have several beers on tap, and a large selection of liquor to choose from. There’s dim interior lighting, but it’s enough to see. lol Not enough lighting to take good pictures though.
Now, back to the food I had. I ordered some Parmesan & Herbs Fries, and a grilled cheese (Haven’t had a good grilled cheese in years!). Food comes out fairly quickly too, which is cool. Fries were AWESOME! Crispy, good seasoning, delicious! My grilled cheese was really good too! Bread was toasted and slightly crisp. Cheese was very flavorful and creamy. Haven’t had good bar food in a while. Pleasantly surprised!
During our stay, I noticed a row of silver mugs on the top of the bar area. I pointed it out to the bartender. And he explained, each mug up there, was a PERSONALIZED MUG with a customer’s name engraved on it, once the customer reaches a certain number of beers (I think it was like 100 or something like that). COOL! :D And once you reach that milestone, every time you come after that, when you order a beer, you get to use your own special mug!

We came here to grab a bite and a few drinks before a show at the Bowery ballroom. The menu on Unilocal is incorrect so I was disappointed when I didn’t see the falafel burger.
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a smiling bartender who told me I could sit anywhere. I went around to the other side of the bar and within a few seconds, she was over with a menu. There were a few patrons around the bar so I appreciated her attentiveness.
They have a great beer list at reasonable prices. Though they lack in the quantity of food items, they do not lack in the quality! We split the Bowery burger with truffle fries (the $ 3 extra charge was worth it because they give you a huge plate of it!) and a flatbread with butternut squash and other vegetables. The flatbreads are actually very big (the size of medium pizza).
I was overall pleasantly surprised by the food and beer and the phenomenal service. We never had an empty glass… and they have pickleback shots!

They make fries the way I like them — crispy! The lamb burger was not too gamey but it was a little on the drier side. Large selection of beers on tap. Definitely a great HH spot and it’s super close to all the trains. Win win for those who have had one too many drinks.
They have poutine here too! I did not get to try the duck poutine but it’s another excuse to return for their AMAZING fries. Not that I really needed one…

Bar food menus are usually frozen burger paitties & wings or cheesy nachos but not at One Mile House. The chef makes house made items like tortelloni, crackers, marinated pickles, & spiced mixed nuts.
For starters, I ordered the spiced mixed nuts. The seasoning was mildly spicy with a touch of sweetness, a perfect snack when drinking. Then I got the small plate called The Big Deluxe. It was freaking delicious!!! It came with herbed cheese, olive purée, & pickles topped on a house baked cracker & drizzled with vinaigrette & oil.
They also have veggie or lamb flatbreads, parmesan & herb fries, kale or quinoa salads, & gourmet burgers.
The tap list consists of ales, stouts, lagers, & ciders, which varies each season: Smuttynose Pumkin Ale, Green Flash-​Cedar Plank, & Stillwater-​Even Less Jesus but the Victory-​Prima Pils was the winner.
There is a patio outback & a flat screen in the middle room with several tables & chairs. The restrooms are clean & located downstairs.
If you’re in the mood for some savory food & good beer, stop by One Mile House. The food is amazing & the staff is friendly & attentive.
