ONE UN New York

Everything was clean and very nice. I loved the room we got and the panoramic view was breathtaking. We got a corner king room and absolutely loved it. We had about 3 friends over to celebrate the ball drop for NYE and they were very accommodating about letting them in.
Afterward we headed out to a party which was 15 minutes away which was super convenient. Restaurants and deli’s are plentiful in this area which was great for lunch, dinner and breakfast the next day.
The only reason why I’m taking away a star is because check out was scheduled for noon yet they unregistered our keys at 11:30am which was a huge inconvenience since we went out for breakfast at 10:30 before we were scheduled to leave. I had left my id in the room since we were just heading across the street so we had to wait for security to let us in our room.
It was a big hassle just getting back in our room however, the security guard that led us back into our room was very nice. All in all, I would definitely return to this hotel again.

This is one of those times where it is likely that service and facilities have improved significantly in response to the slew of negative reviews posted here, because my experience at ONE UN was positive. We booked very far in advance so the price was reasonable for a hotel in New York City, during a major event. The room was comfortable and the staff had additional towels, bath robes and bedroom slippers sent up to our room. The hotel is conveniently located with the types of amenities that you would expect for travel that’s a combination of business and pleasure. At that price point, I would certainly stay here again.

From outside, the place looked really fancy. When I walked into the lobby, it stilled looked fancy. When I opened my hotel room, I felt like I was at a holiday inn from 1996. This place needs a SERIOUS MAKEOVER. I was lucky to get this room for $ 220 on sale and I still think its not worth it. Normally its $ 600 and I would be very angry if I spent that much on a room here. The furniture is outdated and falling apart. The beds are uncomfortable, the bathrooms are a joke. Very ugly bathtub and cheap shower. No refrigerators in the rooms but I asked for one and they gave put one in my room. The ONLY thing I can say that did impress me was, the view. The view from our room (34^th floor) was very nice. Overall, I would not return here.

This hotel is so not with $ 600 we paid for one night. The hotel is so old and cheap rooms. Everything is so old fashion and AC/​heating system are ridiculous. Elevators all scratched up and old. We stayed in the 38 floor so our view was at least nice. Parking was $ 50 customer service is not a big deal either.

. Well, once again, Hotwire screwed me because once again I get a hotel that is improperly rated. This MAY HAVE BEEN a 4 star hotel in 1996, but not anymore.
The service was nothing to write home about at all. The cost to park your car with the hotel is a whopping $ 63.00 if you aren’t «oversized», if you are «oversized» tack on an additional $ 15.00 to line someones pocket. They let us into our room a couple hours before check-​in which was nice, but the room was tiny for a $ 300/​night room. Bathroom was partially updated I suppose with large mirror, old toilet bowl, partially updated sink, shower/​tub area was kind of outdated and used looking, my shower at home is way better. Pay no attention to those nice bathroom pictures you see.
The old analog thermostat was almost impossible to read and set, which was ridiculous. The furniture was scratched and the glass table top desk had a crack on one of the corners which was covered with some scotch tape. ??? Really?
The bed was on a cheap frame, and the mattress was barely average. There was no fridge, no coffee maker. This place needs a REAL renovation. The nice pictures that you may be seeing online are not what you get, unless it’s because I’m in a different area. My advice… close down the old area to renovate it, stop taking advantage of people… this place sucks. I’d rate it a 2 – 2.5 stars tops and that’s it.
The view from the room was great, but the view would be great from any DUMP.
Overall, thumbs down, and I’m beginning to question Hotwire’s rating system.

Check out was a nightmare. The couple in front of us was borderline screaming. When it was our turn, we were charged over $ 100 additional because the mini bar has sensors and even though we did not use anything inside, the refrigerator was opened and the items were looked at. NEVER AGAIN! They ruined our trip!

I was terrified to stay here after reading all of the reviews, especially knowing I booked a room in the dreaded East Tower. But you guys– it was not that bad!
Our check-​in experience was average. The staff wasn’t over the top friendly, but they weren’t rude either. We took to the elevator to our room (3607) where I VERY NERVOUSLY opened the door, expecting the worst. We were met with a perfectly fine hotel room. Everything was clean, nothing looked «filthy» or had weird stains, and our view of the river was breathtaking. Our TV was large, HD, and had every basic cable channel (no different than any other hotel). The cleaning service never came too early or anything like that, and we were not disturbed with any noise. The location had many great restaurants and bars within walking distance. Basically, I worried about this hotel room for my entire train ride up to NYC for nothing.
I will say that the East Tower is certainly dated, and could benefit greatly from a fresh coat of paint and some updated decorations. It did feel like I was staying at a «Millennium» hotel in the literal, «stepped into a time warp» sense. If I had paid more than I did (about $ 175/​night with taxes through
), I might have been disappointed. But overall, I would stay again without any hesitation if the price were right, and I am really glad I didn’t «run to a motel 6» when I realized I was in the East Tower.

Inconvenient location, sub-​par rooms, no amenities — how is this a 4-​star hotel?
We stayed in the Superior King room for four nights from Jul 20 to 25.
Rooms — Furniture is «modern» but cheap quality. The bed had a single mattress with no spring underneath on a bed frame that creaks if you shift around in bed. The fabric sofa is filthy (turn around one of the sofa cushions to see it grossly discoloured). The bathroom is very spacious, but the tub itself is small, you could barely fit a bottle of shampoo in the corner.
Overall Impression — Everything was clean except for that sofa. Best part of the room was the view of Southern Manhattan (especially at night).
Amenities — No free WIFI, which was horrible.
Swimming pool was closed (for the summer?!) which was a big initial selling factor for us. Scoped out the tennis court which was, unlike the photos, not outdoors on a rooftop but completely covered by tarp, in a large unventilated space. You can see here how old and poorly maintained the hotel is, just walking through the unrenovated hallways.
I wanted to use a computer for a few minutes to transfer photos, but the «business area» made you pay a minimum of $ 10 to use the computer.
Worst of all, on the last day, a hotel bell man called a cab for us and put our luggage in the taxi. I was about to get out my wallet to tip him, but before I did, he bitterly muttered on his breath behind my back, «No tip.» I had a five dollar already in my hand and I angrily gave it to the rude bell man who then smugly walked away. I was so angry and offended, this left an extremely bitter taste in my mouth after a five day mediocre stay at this hotel.
Would I stay here again? Definitely not. Spend some extra money, stay somewhere more centrally located and go with a chain where you are guaranteed a quality room with great service.

Why are zero stars not an option?!
I was in town for a large government conference and selected this establishment based on location and amenities. I wish I had read the Unilocal reviews of the past 4 or 5 months prior to booking but it was a last minute trip.
Its New York in the summer, the hotel advertises a pool. Upon checking in I was informed that the pool facilities are being remodeled and will not be available for use. Bummer right? It only gets better because the «minor renovations» involve jack hammers.
With a full day of conference calls scheduled and workstations set up to accomplish our objectives the jack hammering starts. The maid service was having a great time in the hallways and rooms next to ours laughing and shrieking, so much so that participants on conference calls were commenting about it. Members of the team actually had to go into the bathroom and shut the door to try to hear the conversations being had.
We first called the front desk and they said there was nothing that could be done. When we went down to the front desk to reach out for help they said they could move us to another tower for an additional $ 100 upcharge. Because we had booked through a third party (tripadvisor) the hotel was unable to provide us with a discount on the room.
The noise continued, we tried to contact the front desk one more time and our calls since have been routed to a voicemail box that has gone unanswered.
We contacted TripAdvisor, who contacted the hotel on our behalf, and they were informed that we were offered a room upgrade at no additional cost and because of that we were not entitled to a discount. So they lie and provide insufficient service?
I’m very disappointed by this and would not recommend staying here if you are a fan of being treated well and receiving promised services.

This hotel is overpriced and awful. Services were mediocre to begin with but it kept getting worse. The pool was under construction but we were not informed of that until after we’d checked in and paid. The hotel bar is an overpriced joke.
On the last day of our stay they started construction on the floor below and it was so loud we couldn’t even carry on a conversation with each other from a few feet away. We complained and they offered no resolution but the cleaning staff did manage to add to the noise by laughing obnoxiously in the adjacent rooms as they went about their duties.
The reception staff was surly with us when we requested a resolution or a discount. Their only offer was that we could go through the inconvenience of relocating in the middle of our working day to the other tower for an additional $ 100/​night. After our complaint they routed all of our calls to the front desk to a voice mail box.
Absolutely awful establishment. The staff have little to no regard for their customers. Save your money and seek accomodations elsewhere.

Two things I hate about hotel both happened here: no complementary wifi, cleaning lady opened the door early in morning without knocking. For the price I paid, this is pretty bad value. Room has a weird structural, sheet and towel has detergent smell, check in and check out are extremely slow, facility isn’t good. Wouldn’t recommend.

If only I could give this hotel zero stars…
If you read nothing else from this review, here are the main two takeaways:
1.) WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. From senior management to the reservationist, nobody cares about you or your issues with their nasty hotel.
2.) If you have the unfortunate circumstance of being stuck in their East Tower, run, don’t walk, as fast as you can to a Motel 6. Trust me, your experience will be far better there.

First, the rooms…
I selected this hotel bc I saw it had 4 stars and thought it would be fine. At check-​in, they informed me that my reservation was for the older, un-​renovated tower and if I wanted to upgrade to a renovated room it would be an additional $ 90. I declined, thinking how bad could a 4 star hotel be?
The first room they stuck me in was as bad as a run down motel off a deserted interstate. The light in the bathroom constantly flickered (straight out of a horror movie), gross stains on the sofa, the handheld shower head would not stay put in one place on the pole, the porcelain soap dish in the shower was broken off. I called the front desk and they said they could move me to a different room but on the same floor. They refused to move me to the renovated tower unless I paid. Didn’t matter how disgusting the room.
My second room was slightly better but still way below what would have been acceptable, even a two star hotel. The bathroom vanity had several cracks on the glass counter, the heat didn’t work all night (come to find out their archaic system only worked when you have some random nob by the light switch turned on — touching the thermostat did nothing), my phone was broken (literally doesn’t work at all) and more nasty stains on the sofa. My lamp shade was totally beaten up and the pole was wobbly and leaning. Also, there were no extras like most properties of this «caliber» offer — no water bottles, no coffee maker, etc.
I also tried the gym. First, the pool is closed for «minor repairs» — find out on Unilocal it’s been closed for at least four months. Most not have been so «minor,» eh? The gym was decent if you just wanted to lift weights — 2 of the 3 ellipticals were out of service. Also, the hand sanitizer dispenser was empty. No towels either.
On to the Staff…
As noted earlier, receptionist will try to upgrade you for anywhere from $ 90-​$ 200 a night for a room in the renovated tower. Upon checkout, I had to go to the front desk to retrieve my bill since it was not put under my door that morning. No smile or pleasantries at all — forget about the «hello’s» or «how was everything?» I suppose when you’ve stayed in the tower of death, they already know what your answer will be. The staff is about as warm and friendly as your pet rattlesnack.
After complaining to senior mgmt, I was «invited» to come back for a stay in the new tower. So we exchanged some emails and agreed upon $ 200 for one night, with the second night comped. I thought it was odd that I was invited back and still had to pay, but whatever, I decided to accept the offer.
When I went to confirm my dates, I find out my contact has left the hotel. Started dealing with some other person in «senior management» only she won’t give me the new tower, only the old tower. I could go on and on about the attitudes I experienced or the constant upselling (well, if you want the new tower, you’ll have to pay $ 200 more a night and no comp’d night) but the point is — why in the world would I want back to your property, even at a discount, when you’re only going to stick me back in the same dirty, broken, disgusting room that caused my discontent in the first place? NO THANKS.
I write Unilocal reviews for two reasons — either you’ve impressed the socks off me, or I’m so disgusted that a company like yours is still in business. Clearly the latter stands in this situation.

Great views, kind staff, a real find!

This is single handedly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. This was my second time staying here and will definitely be the last. They had screwed up so many times that by the end of our stay, they had comped us breakfast and coffee, wifi, and changed our room. Here’s a list of the problems.
–Television Broken in first room
–Old tenant’s dirty t-​shirt left in room
–ketchup stains on sheets
–shower flooded
–after we were given free breakfast because of all the issues, there were remnants of eggs on all the plates for the buffet
–when I tried to complain, I had to wait in line to speak to the manager. The three people in front of me were all furious and wanted to see the manager to fix their problems.
–blue ink on towel
–Television broken in second room
–keys to second room broke several times throughout the course of the stay. Had to get keys remade several times.
WORST HOTEL EVER. WORST HOTEL EVER. WORST HOTEL EVER.
Now I would also like to add they are thieves — pure and simple. I gave them my card for incidentals only (the actual hotel fee was on another card). After writing this review, I decided to check my credit card statement, and they have charged me. THIEVES. That’s all — if you stay here after reading this review you are an idiot.

We bid on a 4 star hotel on priceline and this hotel picked up our bid. Of course they stuck us in the East tower which is old and dirty. Our couch in the room was stained and torn, marks all over the walls, smelled musty, worn out bed, windows like a prison cell, just all around not good.
I called the front desk and informed them this had to be a mistake and they said it was priceline’s fault for misrepresenting the hotel and that they clearly differentiate between the two on their own website, which they do. Seems fair but, then again they accepted our bid knowing the level of room we bid on and still stuck us in the crappy 1980’s tower. Why?
Because they would be happy to upgrade us to the other tower for an additional $ 80 + taxes per night. How convenient? They would not let us out of our reservation either so we were pretty well screwed. Real nice bait and switch they’ve got going here. I overheard someone else at the front desk with the same issue and one of the front desk staff says they get this complaint all the time.
So of course we paid to upgrade and that room was fine. If we would have got this room to start with this would have been a 4 star review but, thanks to their shady business practices they get 2 stars. Absolutely only stay in the West Tower! The East tower is awful!
Priceline has since clarified that their bookings are for the West tower but, neither them or the hotel is willing to help us out.

I got a deal at expedia and decided to book this place for my thanksgiving break.
This place is about 20min away form JFK airport. Taxi ride is about $ 57. Thats like the standard price. if u hit traffic, it can cost u more. The hotel is on 44^th and between 1^st &2^nd ave.
The hosting guy Mac is very friendly and informative. He attended us and lead us to the check in section. He was also very helpful when my friends and I asked him about transportation and places.
The lobby is pretty and stylish, although is not spacious. I love the ceiling, coz u can see the view through a cool geometric glass.
The room is modern and cozy. I like the mirrors on each sides right next to the window coz u can try ur outfits there and do ur make up! The view is AWESOMEEEEE! They provide coffee machine maker (not hot water boiler/​maker). There is fridge filled w food, so just watch out if u wanna place a small thing in (u might hit the sensor and be charged). The double bed size is smaller than standard, its more like full size bed. But the WALLS ARE THIN!!! i could hear ppl talking on the next room. (left neighbor) And the room connected to us (those rooms that just has a door in between), i could hear the person sneeze… (right neighbor)
As for the surrounding, there are drug stores and small shops around if u wanna buy water bottles or eat. There is a bagel shop called Ess– a — Bagel nearby, which is worth a try! They sell different kinds of cream cheese, like oreo cream cheese! pretty yummy.
Overall, i like this hotel. Depends wut you care and wut room u choose.

Painstaking slow service. We made a request on our arrival that was only complied to by the time we left after over 5 calls and visits to the from desk.
Somewhat dated and overall not a top notch place to stay. Felt more like a $ 200 a night hotel, not $ 450 a night.

I stayed in this hotel last week while visiting my family in NYC and like many other people who stay i did notice the rooms were dated but that’s not what granted the low rating it was the attitudes of the staff and the cleanliness of the rooms
The staff are blatantly rude and the service here sucks and the walls are dirty and terrible there were bugs in my room I’d advice you to stay somewhere else. The only thin good was the view

My friend and I stayed her last weekend and it was pretty nice! I wasn’t a fan of the dated lobby but once we got past that to our elevator everything was beautiful, newly renovated. We checked in super late on Friday and was told they ran out of rooms with two double beds. We were ready to get mad until they told us we got upgraded to a suite and it was GORGEOUS. Huge living area, lovely bathroom, great view from the 30^th floor. It’s at a perfect location. We felt spoiled. We didn’t get to check out the amenities of the hotel. We were looking forward to going in the pool but didn’t really have time. Overall we were glad we stayed there and plan on going back soon.

Careful: No free Wi-​Fi on West tower despite stating there’s free ones during booking. The excuse is simply that we were in the West tower instead of East tower. HOW WERE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THIS?
$ 12.95 for Wifi.
The room was clean, although, as mentioned by other reviews, the appliances/​faucets/​furniture were outdated…
TV — No movies to watch. We were very disappointed. This hotel has no paid movie selections. There was no point of having such a nice HDTV when there’s nothing to watch…
37^th floor was nice. We were facing the Roosevelt Island side. That was good.

Schönes Hotel mit wahnsinnig tollen Ausblicken aus jedem Zimmer, da das Hotel erst ab Etage 27 anfängt.
Swimming Pool und Fitness Raum können gratis genutzt werden, Zimmer sind sehr modern und sauber.
Minibar ist allerdings unverschämt teuer, genauso wie der Room Service.
Nächste U-​Bahn zirka 10 Minuten zu Fuß, dafür ist das Hotel direkt an der UN und es gibt viele Delis um die Ecke.
Leider hat das Hotel einen halben Stern verloren, das Front Desk ist nicht immer freundlich und manchmal muss man 30 Minuten und mehr am Check-​In stehen.
