I’m giving this review because of the rude, cold, disinterested bartender who works during the day. He is an older Irish man in his late 50s (colum or Colin is his name). He seems completely over it, not interested in politeness. He was a total dick to me with attitude as if my two basic questions were a huge inconvenience. I went for lunch, but not worth it if you have to deal with his gruff unfriendliness. Go at night, when the staff is very friendly and treat you like family (hence why I’m giving this place two stars instead of one).

This place is the definition of a pleasant neighborhood pub– away from the «bros» on 2nd avenue, classy yet understated!
The food/​service are always excellent and has a steady clientele of local regulars.

Okay… I’m 43 yrs young… do not. do not sit in the back w piano player… this occurs Wed and Sat.

My uncle had a rare steak sandwich (which he did ask for).the French fries were dry and he did not enjoy them
They were nice and took off burger… staff was nice.
Overall…sit in front if you are 50 and younger…

Went on a Thursday, sat outside. The waitress quickly took our drink order and brought our drinks… Then disappeared for the next 20 minutes. No refills, no menus, no bread, nada.
We finally waved her down and got menus, then she didn’t show up for another 15 minutes.
We finally ordered and for drink refills.
When the food came, I ordered the Fish and Chips. It came out with 2 of the smallest pieces of fish I’ve seen in awhile. And the fries were half burnt.
When the waitress finally returned 20 minutes later, we asked for the check which took another 20 minutes to get through.
I give the food a B-​, the portion sizes a C– and the waitress a F+.

This review is based on just one seamless order. I’m a huge Mac and cheese fan so when I saw short rib Mac and cheese, I was sold. When the delivery man arrived, he called and said he has waited five minutes and rang the doorbell and no one answered, so I went outside to see what the problem was. Yeah, he was on the wrong street. You don’t see that everyday.
The food itself was a little less than average. First off, it was cold. Maybe was the wait… from being on the wrong street. The short rib wasn’t really cut up at all and was super chewy. The Mac and cheese itself was ok at best. Nothing special. The serving portion was the best part. I’m not planning on ordering from this place again.

I always get delivery for their lunch special $ 20 for two sandwiches and fries and a drink. Big hearty burgers is one of the choices always big portion good quality food. I don’t like the spice they put on the fries get it without seasoning. Delivery is super quick and cant beat the price lunch for two for $ 20 bucks in midtown!

I just had my first experience ordering in from Parnell’s and unfortunately I can’t even rate the food, only the service. Parnell’s never delivered my food. After contacting seamless multiple times (in addition to the calling them on my own first) they just never showed up. They confirmed with both me and seamless that they were sending my order. And NOTHING ever arrived. I live 1 block away, I understand that places get busy, and blah blah blah but there’s no excuse not to deliver the order. I’m not even mad… I’m just disappointed. I really wanted my French onion soup and burger with fries :(
Update… Food just arrived — 2 hours late!!! Wtf.

Parnell’s is what every neighborhood pub should be. You can get pub food like burgers, shepherd pie, fish n’ chips, etc., but they also have wonderfully creative entrees and apps. And they serve a damned fine pint, have a nice mix of wine by the glass and mix an excellent cocktail.
They have a front room and a back room. Although the menu is the same for both rooms, the front room is in the bar and seems slightly more casual. The back room has white table cloths, is a bit quieter and seems more formal. So, if you want a quiet, romantic dinner or you want to catch a game and a burger you have that choice. Some people like the show-​tune singing in the back room on weekends. Some (me) do not… another good reason to sit up front.
The proximity to the UN, along with their reputation for quality, means you never know who you might run into at Parnell’s.

Went for dinner since they hired the new head chef. BoOm! Everything was amazing! Tried the short rib mac, scotch egg, and the double cut pork shop. All done to PERFECTION! Finished off with the warm bread pudding … mmmm (use Homer Simpson voice). This place is worth the trek to the E side for some good eats. If you haven’t been back to Parnell’s in a while, you are missing out!

Just terrible. I try my best to like local restaurants, but after living across the street from Parnell’s and for 5 years, I can say with complete confidence that its terrible. The outdoor seating is the only reason we ever go to eat at Parnell’s, and we always regret it afterwards. The service is horrible inside and outside; some of the servers have a great attitude, but they are so overworked that they don’t have time for all of their tables. Hamburgers are always over-​cooked into hockey pucks, no matter what done-​ness you ask for. The sodas taste horrible. Avoid at all costs. Try the Pressbox down on 50th and 2nd instead.

This is a low key neighborhood bar where you are supposed to enjoy your drinks with friends. If you are hungry, you can order some great bar food as well.
If you want to watch football with screaming fans, slam down shots, or shout over pumping music, go hang out on 2nd Ave.
Some reviewer wrote that this place is filthy. That is a flat out lie.

I love this area for brunch on Sundays. Parnell’s is one of the better ones to go to. They offer a large selection to choose from. Everyone in our party enjoyed their selection. Their mimosas were okay.
The interior design is nothing note worthy and the service is okay. We had to look for/​flag down our waiter a few times.
