The vibe in this place is as incredible as the product. The staff is so amazing and friendly. I love stopping by here to grab croissants for my co-workers on Sunday’s and they are always delighted. The almond croissant changed my life. Thank you!!!

Simply said– you will not find more delicious pain au chocolat anywhere in this city. The coffee is mediocre at best but that’s not why you come here.

The absolute most authentic chocolate croissant you will ever have in the entire world. Get one, get two. You will dream about them from now on.

I have been to Paris and know a good croissant. I am not trying to brag, but make a statement. I got 3 crusant a for me and a few friends and we all loved them. Very flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. The place doesn’t have the nicest interior but I wasn’t there to hang out. Just grab and go.

Went to the bakery based on the reviews. Tried cream puff and hazelnut cake and after one bite, my friend and I were unable to finished. Cream puff was soggy and the caramelized sugar on the top of the cream puff was super hard to chew. Hazelnut cake tasted not so fresh, couldn’t finished it. I feel like I just wasted $ 8 and my taste bud.

Adequate. I probably wouldn’t return, especially given the mediocre cleanliness.

Was on my week end run to Porto Rico Coffee and decided to wander a bit on the way home. Lucky for me there was a small film crew documenting customers comments/reactions from Patisserie Claude, and I overheard them discussing the purchase of some product. Entering the door you smell butter and caramelizing sugars, so your senses are readied to peruse the offerings in the cases. The meringues piqued my interest, but these can be like biting into a dust bowl… Now that I know better a sampling is in order. The mini palmiers looked good, but a half pound of cookies with a cappuccino for breakfast? The Pain Du Chocolate looked decent, and these little pear pastries about the size of a piece of sushi looked too appealing to resist. The pear pastry had thinly sliced pear set on a bit of puff pastry. I do not recall any pastry cream, just juicy, unsweetened pear(which was perfect) on a crispy, flaky and very buttery bite of airy pastry. GOOD! The Pain Du Chocolate was quite good, and the remarkable thing was that the chocolate did not play hide and seek, there was enough for a bit with every bite if well planned. The pastry could have been a bit higher in butter content for my tastes, but it was quite excellent, and a return trip is in order. Thank you P. Claude, and mystery film crew!

Will forever be my favorite memory of New York. The subtle smell of freshly baked chocolate croissant. The gooey cheesy ham quiche. Great place for people watching and knowing the amazing village neighbor. Come very early in the morning and experience the melted chocolate in their croissant. Other expensive, overrated bakery cannot even come close to theirs!

What an amazing little pastry shop! You rarely see small local businesses in this part of the Village anymore and it is easy to pass right by and not notice the place. Once inside you will encounter the best French style croissants. I could eat them endlessly. These are wonderful buttery creations, and taste exactly like the ones in France. Thankfully they are Not overly eggy or layered with egg wash, like all the poor American versions of croissants. Plain goes for $ 2.50 and chocolate is a mere $ 2.75 Great deal!

Super unassuming little bakery near NYU. Never knew this place existed until recently when I saw this being recommended for best croissant in the city! When you walk in, it totally feels like a mom and pop kind of store, nothing fancy, no decorations, kind of old school looking. We were having a hard time deciding whether to get the chocolate croissant, or the plain, but the cashier lady smiled at us and reassured us that both of them were extremely delicious :). We ended up picking the chocolate one based on the Unilocal reviews, and we’re glad we did! There were so many layers in this croissant, and every layer was flaky!!! One of the best cold croissants(aka not freshly baked out of the oven) that I’ve ever had. I would definitely come back again for more. For the croissant and an iced coffee, it was a little less than $ 5. I really wish I had known about this place sooner!!!

Finally a chocolate croissant that’s cooked through without unleavened dough in the middle and a decent bar of chocolate. I can only imagine what it’s like fresh out of the oven.

I had the chocolate croissant. It was good but nothing great. I wish it was more flaky and buttery. Perhaps it wasn’t fresh? It’s a very cute place. I’d come back if I was in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to stop by. I prefer Maison Kayser.

Coming to give props to the bakery that fed me my first cookie + first croissant. I’ve been coming here since I was a fetus so my fam has built up some sort of friendly relation with this establishment! Their eclairs + chocolate croissants are my favorite in the city. I also really enjoy their coffee(iced is my preference) :) Would recommend!

Ate: Chocolate croissant. Meh. The chocolate was very good, but I expect more buttery flavor from any kind of croissant. The flakiness was good though. Also, I stood there for a minute or so while the guy stared at his credit card. Some of me wanted to see how long it would take for him to notice me, but New Yorkers don’t have time to wait around. I finally had to say excuse me even though I was standing right in front of him and there were no other customers. *cash only*

Always same quiet, cozy atmosphere. My favorite is its brioche.$ 2.35. They use good butter for baked goods. Decent price and size.

Super small space, friendly guy helped me. Looks like a family owned place and im all about supporting local spots. I got the almond croissant which was so good. Also got 1 coffee éclair and 1 chocolate éclair which are pretty large in size. They too were good but nothing standout special about them. There was maybe 5 different things on the display case when i walked in and nothing else stood out. Hopefully they cary more selections earlier in the day

I must take issue with Unilocaler Rajeev who claims that there is «too much chocolate in their croissant.» That is kinda like saying there is too much money in my bank account… nonsensical and deserving nothing but the contempt of all decent people. I went to Patisserie after reading about them on serious eats. Very impressed. Excellent chocolate croissant… I’m sure everything else is great too, but only had a croissant.

Strolled in on a Saturday morning. Shop was a little hard to find since the address said Washington Place but it was around the corner. No big deal, I will make some sacrifices for an amazing croissant. Especially if said amazing croissant involves chocolate! I promptly ordered a chocolate croissant and was a little disappointed that the cashier grabbed one from the case, I was hoping for a super fresh one from the back! Nonetheless, I paid and took the croissant to go. I got the impression the place was cash only so didn’t bother asking to pay via credit card for my $ 2.65 purchase. I was a little disappointed there were no signs in the case for the different items. I hoped they had some savory croissants and I didn’t feel like talking that early in the AM! The croissant was great! Tasted similar to ones I have had in Paris. Even though the one I got was not right out the oven, it was still very good. There was plenty of chocolate and the crust was a crunch and buttery amazingness. It was not as flaky as others have described but it was still really good! I liked that the shape was more of a rectangle than the traditional crescent shaped kinds. Made it easier to eat on the go and didn’t make as much of a mess. Great local spot with delicious baked goods!

Claude, I don’t know you but I love you. Even after reading all these reviews, I still didn’t expect the chocolate croissant to be above-average. I was wrong. It is so much better than average. Usually chocolate croissants have a tiny sliver of chocolate inside that is really only distinct in a few bites. However, the chocolate in Claude’s croissants are detectable in every single bite. The crust was so flaky and buttery, it was just heavenly. They were only $ 2.50, worth every penny. Insanely good.
