This establishment does not answer the telephone or return voice messages (numerous attempts/​messages). Frustrating.

My Dad gave me his beautiful tweed coat with black velvet collar a couple of years ago. It didn’t fit. I am shorter and thinner than my Dad. My spouse said that a proper tailor could transform it into a modern British topcoat like those hanging in the windows of the City’s finest men’s shops. Chris did that. I am so happy. He was professional and clearly knew much more than I did, but wasn’t pushy. He did exactly what I asked. I love my new coat. Chris values classic, detail-​oriented tailoring in a sadly, big box, one-​size-​fits-​all world. He is a 5+!

I was very upset by the rude and unprofessional phone call that I had with the tailor, chris. I wanted a price quote and I simply compared his pricing to other quotes that I had recieved and he became defensive and rude. I never used their services so I cannot comment on that, however costumer service was one star.

I was looking for a tailor in my neighborhood and saw that Del Castillo was located in my building — how convenient! (they have since relocated to another space in LIC). Christopher offered to come to my apt. and was so professional and easy going. My wedding dress was returned to me in about a week and all of the alternations I needed done came out perfect! Didnt need a second go around!
No stress at all! Went so easy and smooth. He was also really good with communicating! I have already referred them to a bunch of my neighbors and will definitely use them again in the future.

One of Chris’ specialties is renovating your older clothing to modern design and current size. He and his colleague have done two pieces for me so far and they both worked out perfectly!
(1) I had an old leather jacket that was far too large for me at this point, and his redesign and rebuild turned out SPOT ON. I now have the equivalent of a nearly new $ 600 leather jacket, for a tiny fraction of the cost.
(2) My favorite custom navy suit (expensive!) was crafted during an era where pants were wide, with pleats and cuffs. I had stopped wearing this suit because the pants looked old fashioned. Chris and his tailor did the rebuild and now it looks completely modern, with perfect fit.
The combination of Chris — who has an excellent eye — doing the design in real-​time consultation with his colleague who performs the tailoring appears to be a winning combination. I plan to bring them some older dress shirts to slim down, and might even start having them craft some dress shirts from scratch.
Del Castillo Tailoring is a great find. Just one stop into Queens on the E or M train.

Chris, was great to work with. He was very knowledgeable and added input to help me visualize my final product. Then he was also flexible on providing production counts.
