History
Established in 1983.
1.) When was the company founded and who or what was the impetus?
Peekamoose was founded in 1983. Charlie LoBue of Guitar Labs and Woody Phifer of STP Custom Guitars were instrumental in getting me started. Before Peekamoose I was Woody’s apprentice roughly two years. We did all kinds of repairs and custom work along with building Woody’s STP Custom guitars and basses. I am extremely grateful for my training, it’s rare that someone puts faith in a kid and gives them a chance. I was fortunate to have learned from two innovators. In the early 70’s at 17 I interned with Charlie LoBue at Guitar Lab. In the early 80’s at 26, I apprenticed with Woody.
Meet the Business Owner
Paul S.
Business Owner
In the summer of ’73, Paul was lucky enough to have initial training by Charles LoBue of Guitar Labs, where he met Woody Phifer, Ralph Novak, Steve Blucher, and Bob Sindorf. Paul was seventeen, it set a path which Paul later realized he was built for. After college and playing professionally for several years, at 26, Woody was about to move his shop and offered Paul an apprentice position. The timing was perfect it was 1981, the music scene in NYC had changed to a pay to play. Paul worked for Woody until Woody had to move his shop out of NYC. Paul was then drafted by Manny’s to do product support for every brand they sold because they knew his skill set and they had known him since he was sixteen & learning to play guitar. The Manny’s connection forged lasting relationships with most of the major guitar manufacturers as a high level problem solver. Paul has provided slipstream upgrade ideas to the majors to weed out warranty problems. Peekamoose thinks outside the box all the time
