Bought a groupon for a haircut, blowout, and styling. Was able to get an appointment immediately which was pretty amazing. Pepi’s hair salon is so cute and cozy I absolutely loved the vibe. Also, the owner Pepi is so sweet and talented I’m definitely coming back here again! I love my new haircut — she really knows what she’s doing. I asked her for 3 inches off with layers and that’s exactly what I got. Very pleased! This is going to be my new spot. The prices are also really reasonable given how good she is and the location.

Pepi’s hair salon is the hidden gem of the Upper East Side. As a guy who wanted to get a great haircut at a reasonable price, this place was perfect. Pepi has such a warm personality and she’s incredibly skilled. She’s so good that when I moved downtown (I work in the financial district), I still make the trip up to the UES to get my haircut. She’s the best!

My first brush with Pepi was in 2011 when an ex-​boyfriend brought me along on a trip to his favorite barber. Imagine my surprise when Pepi turned out to be a tiny Greek woman! This was back at her old location on 2^nd Ave which was much more spacious than the current one, but I imagine the rent for that place was pretty out of control for a quiet barber shop off the beaten path.
Flash forward to a couple of months ago when I was itching for hair extensions. The ad was good — plenty of pics, not too pricey, oooooh in an actual salon?! — so I called and scheduled an appointment. Showed up and… deja vu. On a normal day I can barely remember what I ate for breakfast, yet I managed to recall a person I saw for a single hour 3 years ago.
This is definitely the place for women uncomfortable with the ‘trendy overpriced hair salon’ experience (like me). Pepi is a warm, funny woman and will make you feel at home in her cozy salon. Even though she didn’t seem as comfortable with my newly long hair as she was with the short-​haired gentleman before me, she still put all of her effort in and my hair wound up fabulous.

I have gotten my hair cut and colored at PEPI’s for years! my fiancé also goes there for his monthly cuts… Pepi is the best :)

I went here on a whim because I wanted to get a quick haircut. On a Tuesday morning in the Upper East Side, I expected a salon on 2^nd ave to be packed and with a line. Thankfully, this place is hidden behind the construction and tucked away. It’s a cute place with a friendly Greek woman who shampoos and the cuts the hair. I really liked the speed at which it was done (I was out and ready to go after half an hour) and she was very professional. Definitely is a place that I’ll go back to.

Found this salon after I became tired of going to the super trendy/​upscale places, paying an arm and a leg while my «stylist» never remembers my name nor how I like my hair to be cut.
Came in on a Wednesday while in the neighborhood and decided to get a much needed cut. There were a few people ahead of me but it was definitely worth the wait. The staff is super friendly and efficient. They go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable… My stylist was Pepi and she was amazing!!! Not to mention that there hair products are SUPER CHEAP! I purposely asked the prices knowing that the nearby drugstores carry the same products and Pepi’s Salon was actually CHEAPER! Plus they carry all natural products as well.
If you’re looking for a salon that makes you feel comfortable, has cheaper hair products than anywhere in the neighborhood and remembers your name, come here! You will not regret it!!!

I have been getting my hair cut by Pepi for the past 6 months and love it! My wife, who for the past 10 years has complained about my haircuts finally stopped complaining when I started having Pepi cut it!
She does a great job and does it quickly.

I came to Pepi’s after reading the several positive reviews, supposedly by trustworthy Unilocalers.
Yes, the staff is friendly but if you’re looking for a great hair style or even a salon experience, this isn’t it. I was the only customer on a Wednesday afternoon. Pepi cut my hair, she was friendly but the haircut was similar to a bowl cut. I told her I liked my hair simple, clean cut but with a little style to the bangs. I got a bowl cut!
There was no mention of a first time discount and when I mentioned it, there was an uncomfortable pause, so I just paid them their price, $ 25 and got the hell out of there.
Sorry, I can’t recommend this place. Two stars because the woman was nice but on service/​style, nothin’.

Had my hair cut by Pepi today. I have medium length men’s hair, the cut went great. She was really responsive and got the idea pretty quick for what I wanted. Definitely seemed like she knew what she was doing, no complaints. At $ 15, ridiculously cheap for a haircut in this neighborhood…

josef the barber is a magician. he has been cutting my hair for over a year now. he gets it done fast and its only 15 bucks!!! i am very particular about my hair and hate when its uneven. dont even sweat with josef he’ll take good care of you.

I’ve been in search of a great yet affordable hair salon in Yorkville and I am SO excited to have found Pepi’s! Based on the other positive reviews here on Unilocal,I decided to try it out, and I’m extremely happy with the results. My cut/​style/​blowdry was only $ 52, done by Pepi, and she was INCREDIBLY meticulous. I brought in some pictures I printed of what I wanted and she was awesome about getting it just how I wanted. She was very sweet and great about making light conversation and keeping me smiling. SUCH a pleasant experience. I’ll definitely be returning!

Snip, Snip! Here is s definite Upper East side secret!!! This was Chef d’Ouvre. I have as of late been to «Allure Magazine» picks in California and none of them stacked up at all to Vicki at Pepi’s. She has taken care of my tresses until I went on tour and her color is nuanced and her cuts are straightforward. Vicki works Tues– Sat here and she is easy going and not critical or hostile like other stylists. I have gone to her for ten years and I have to admit that I hate giving up one of my secrets but Unilocal!is the way to go. My hair is very long and thanks to her, it get compliments.
While the salon does not scream Madison Avenue «high concept», it is more Steel Magnolia and therefore easy to approach. They give men great cuts as well. Give it a try as the prices for cuts are so reasonable that I won’t give that up!!!
