Perfect Shape Threading Salon

I’ve been coming here for over a year, because I’m always pleased with their work and no complains. The ladies aren’t the most friendly, although id like to believe if you had any requests or adjustments they’d oblige, I’ve seen other people do it. Otherwise, for $ 7 it’s a great deal, and they even give you 50% off for being their first customer of the day!

Friendly and they do great eyebrows! If you want to keep your eyebrows fuller they understand and do a great job

They moved locations to 23^rd street (very close to the old one). Good place to get your eyebrows threaded, pretty cheap. STudents get a discount as well!

I left with redness around the brows, including a fairly noticeable superficial cut, and couple nicks on the upper lip too. Granted, I have sensitive skin, but this was not my first time getting threading done and it was the first time I’ve left with cuts and excessive redness.
This is not my usual place, I only went because it’s so close to my dorm and I heard about the student discount (that’s the only reason it gets an extra star from me)
I thought the ladies were polite and almost friendly, but the overall atmosphere is not all that inviting…
There are better places that are as affordable in the city.

WTF.
I’m walking down Park Ave so I stop at this place because I need to get my arms waxed and eyebrows threaded. This place isn’t crowded, so I walk in. The lady takes me to a back room and let’s me change. She comes back and starts waxing, she’s friendly enough making small talk to pass the time. A quarter of the way through, a bunch of people walk in, say 4, asking for eyebrow threading. She says to me «I’ll be right back» Not a joke, 45 MINUTES later, she comes back to finish with me. I told her I couldn’t believe that she threaded 4 people’s eyebrows while I waited and didn’t even ask me if she could «pause». Another person walks in, and she had the nerve to ask if she could go thread their brows… really?!
Wait, it gets better, she’s a terrible waxer, I had bruises all over my arms, my husband said I look like I’d be beaten… she told me I have sensitive skin. (which I do not)
Wait, wait, it gets even better, in her small talk, she asked me how much rent I pay and how much I make.
Wait, wait, wait, the cherry on top? She wanted to charge me $ 3 extra for using a credit card. I told her she’s crazy for charging me that and making me wait.
She didn’t charge the $ 3, I didn’t tip her and I walked out of there super annoyed.

I’ve been getting my eyebrows threaded & my waxing done at Perfect Shape since they first opened about 7 years ago.
I’ve spent so much time at this place I swear I can understand Hindi now.
I only let Anju do my eyebrows. She’s in the first chair to your right as soon as you enter the salon.
When she goes away to India, I really miss her :(
I’ve let a few of the other women do my eyebrows and they are never as good as when she threads them.
Anju is the best threader there and they all know it which explains why they act so catty towards her sometimes. (I told you I can understand Hindi now)

DO NOT GET A BIKINI/​BRAZILIAN WAX from them!
I just came home ½ waxed and I am bleeding. This is not my first time but it is the first time at this salon. I feel violated. I told her to stop because of the pain and she just kept going. She slabbed some oil on the blood as I looked in shock and was mortified. I also have severe redness/​purple spots where she pulled the wax off in the same area. When I told her to stop again, she scolded me for moving and said it was my fault. I was in shock and immediately got dressed and told the manager. NO ONE apologized. Even after I told the manager that I was bleeding. I am reporting them to the BBB. I have never had this experience in a salon before or with any bikini/​brazilian wax.
PLEASE BEWARE!

I’m a frequent customer at this threading salon mainly for three reasons:
1. Location: It’s right off the 6 Train. So if you live on the east side, it’s very convenient to get to this location.
2. Student Discount: I’ve been here for so long, I forgot what the full price is to thread your eyebrows. I’m thinking around $ 6-​$ 7. WIth the student discount, it comes out less than $ 5. So, if you are a student or have a student id, I don’t think any place in the city will thread your eyebrows for less than $ 5.
3. Meticulous and clean. I haven’t had a problem with my eyebrows being uneven or too thin. I’ve been pretty happy with the outcome. After threading, they usually use small scissors to cut down any unnecessary hairs.
The only thing I would say is I would like it if they offered you aloe after threading. They offer lotion, but you have to ask for aloe. However, other than that this place is a pretty consistent threading salon.

I go here pretty frequently, since this is the closest and comparatively better place to my apartment.
It is really a hit or miss. With my usual eyebrow and lip threading, I had cases, when I left happy and feeling pretty; but I also had cases when I wanted to scream and make the technician look up the definition of the word SYMMETRY!
I don’t know their names, but my advice is look for the youngest, best dressed, and most neat threading specialist. Chances are you will catch her on a good day.

I do not know about anybody else out there but when I go to get any kind of hair removal, I expect a clean, sanitary location with a licensed esthetician who knows how to remove hair.
Please spare yourself the pain and aggravation by not going here for hair removal. I know it is a threading place but they use cheap wax, it’s very dirty and I am sure that the esthetician did not know which direction to pull my hair.
Also, she burned my lip. I really don’t understand how places like this exist.

I’m lucky and my brows have a pretty good natural shape, I’m also a low-​maintenence kind of gal. I have had my brows plucked a few times and otherwise just pluck myself to keep them from getting too unruly.
A friend suggested I try threading so I visited Perfect Shape.
I was really nervous that they’d be over-​done, but the result was perfect! The women were very nice and super efficient. I walked in, sat down, threaded and paid in under 10 minutes. It was more painful for me than plucking, but it was also much faster, and the result is amazing. At only $ 7, I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been coming here for years mainly bc a woman named Jay did the most amazing job. She left a while ago but still kept coming bc i don’t know where else to go. Decent job on my brows by whoever does em. But the last time… WORST SERVICE EVER!
I went to pay when I was done and the woman stood in front of me at the cash register reading something on her cell phone. I held out my $ 20 bill to show her I was ready to pay. There were no customers in the entire place. Just 4 or 5 other women waiting for someone to walk in and they all see this. I hold my bill out longer and she still purposely ignores me. I see another worker standing next to her and ask, «Can i pay now?» and she points to the woman in front of the register still reading off her phone. A few moments later she finally takes my money.
Most unprofessional blatantly rude service I’ve ever encountered! Anyone recommend another threading places?

This has been my third attempt to have my eyebrows shaped correctly. Mine are naturally straight so I have found it very difficult to make them curve without eliminating all the hair. My first attempt was waxing, leaving me with 0 eyebrows as far as the naked eye could tell. Plucking by others has been patchy at best.
Today I went to perfect threading and I will most definitely go back! I assumed that there would be some pain to the threading, and there was, but I could stand the fact that hair was being ripped from my head. In five minutes I left with the most shapely brows that I have ever had! I am in love! For a mere $ 7, this placed should not be overlooked.

I got 2 things done here: 1. upper lip threading. 2. eyebrow threading
1. Upper lip threading. It hurt more than waxing. I’ve had hot wax on my upper lips and it didn’t really hurt, I don’t know why threading hurt more!
2. Eyebrow threading. This one didn’t really hurt. I don’t have much eyebrow hair because I’m not a hairy person so I told the lady that my eyes brows were thin enough and I just wanted them cleaned up and evened out. She did a fantastic job!
Notes:
*After threading, they will ask you if you want to put any gel. I said yes for my upper lips and no for my eyebrows. If you have sensitive skin like me, maybe you should say no. The gel made my skin feel itchy. I did a little more shopping then went home after that to wash my skin. I would have given this place 4 stars but because the gel made my skin itchy and made it a less pleasant experience, I’m giving it 3 stars.

I’ve gone through this at least 10 times in my recent past. I usually go to quick brows, on the way to my office, but today i was home and i thought I’d try this place, which is very cheap and very close to my place.

1) Threading is never pleasant, but here it is just too painful. Only good thing is… it is really really quick. but this is not good either, for the problem no. 2 below.
2) shape. quality. my eyebrows are so uneven… they’ve never been great, but this time I let the hair grow for a very long time, refraining from using my tweezer. so this girl really had all freedom to just shape them properly. she hasn’t. she’s honestly made a mess. one of the two is arched, the other is straight.
Also, i can see a little scar right below my eyebrow, where she pinched my skin with the thread. really hope it will go away
just don’t go to perfect shape threading salon (I’m talking about the one on park at 23^rd)

Went here for a Brazilian and Eyebrow Threading from a living social coupon. No frills so I wasn’t expecting much… but Anja did a great job on the eyebrows. The wax was great as well. She knew what she was doing, made me feel comfortable, and the results were amazing.
Planning on coming back here again!

I went to Ana for my first Brazilian wax. I had the chocolate wax. It smells delicious. Ana is very nice, professional, sociable. She ensured that I felt comfortable before starting and gave me a few breaks when it was too painful. She even remembered me after a 2 month absence. Even though it is very painful, her conversations helped me take my mind off of the pain. She plucked a few hairs that stubbornly stuck around after waxing. She did not apply anything after waxing to remove the leftover sticky residue. I’m not sure if that usually happens, but I recommend taking a wippy or wash cloth.
Situated in a storefront near a bustling intersection, this lavender-​hued salon forgoes décor and atmosphere in favor of quick, affordable services. A square main room house the reception desk, a few folding chairs and three threading stations; two private back rooms are set-​up for facials and other treatments. The mostly Indian staff is professional and well-​versed in this centuries-​old technique. The waxing room (1 of the back rooms) was a decent size, very clean, and a bit dark (which I was happy because the last thing I want to do is strip down in a brightly lit room). Overall, it was a great experience for its price.
NOTE:
They use waxing and sugaring intermittently in their website. Waxing and sugaring are different! Perfect Shape does Brazilian wax, not sugaring.

Kgbdeals offered me a $ 5 promotion, so I used it to buy the $ 5 deal for this salon.
I would not recommend anyone to come here. I walked in yesterday at around 5pm and the threading took only 3 minutes — literally. When it only takes 3 min to thread, that means the lady goes super fast on you. When it is a super fast service, it is more painful! I had no time to take a deep breath and rest. Usually at my other place (Unique Theading Salon at w23rd and 8^th ave), the nice ladies would take their time doing it and they would be very gentle. This place was also not as relaxing because their music was iffy compared to the other place I go to. I’ve attached a photo to show how painful the threading was:
The thread was scratching my skin.
If you are in a hurry and you don’t care about service then this is the place for you because their shaping is actually pretty good.
Even though I am always in the flatiron area, I would rather travel a bit further to get quality service.

Sometimes in life, we cut corners in order to save a buck. We sacrifice greatness for mediocrity so that we have some extra change in our pocket to purchase… more mediocre things. Sometimes in life, we attempt to this WITH OUR FACIAL HAIR. Now, I’m not even sure if eyebrows technically count as facial hair, but for argument’s sake let’s pretend that they do.
So there you are. It’s a Friday night and you’re going for the $ 7 brow job. A woman with thread between her teeth takes breaks between torture, she commands you to «HOLD IT!» meaning your skin. «TIGHT! HOLD TIGHT!» Your eyes are getting watery and you’re fighting back the urge to flinch every time she puts that string of death near your face. You tell yourself beauty is pain, beauty is pain. And you close your eyes until you feel her put the mirror in your palm.
You open. And to your surprise the results are… not bad. Not bad at all. Granted you came in practically with a Tom Selleck mustache over your eyes disguised as «eyebrows» so any improvement is appreciated. But the point is that for $ 9 (inc. tip) you now have two eyebrows instead of one giant caterpillar and you’re ready to socialize without using the disclaimer «Don’t look at my eyebrows — I haven’t had the time!» with your girlfriends.
So, in this case, you CAN cut corners and strike a deal. You can get your eyebrows done here for cheap and you will receive a decent job. The catch? Because there’s always a catch. You’ll be in desperate unbearable pain the entire time. But in this case, it’s worth it.
