Petite Optique

Our experience with their selection, optician and sales was good. A friendly, good in-​store experience. But BEWARE if you’re planning on using insurance. They have a VSP card in their window but we had a difficult time getting reimbursed. When we were there, they logged into some site and looked us up. Then developed sudden amnesia or computer problem when it came time to submit the claim. They told us if we paid with flexible spending that we could submit their receipt to VSP and get the full in-​network reimbursement. VSP disagreed, and we stood to lose a lot of money. They are listed on VSP’s own web site, yet VSP told me they were not an in-​network provider. Who’s right? Who knows. So … buyer beware. If you’re using VSP, the only way to guarantee that you’re getting your benefit is for the provider to submit it at the time of purchase and you only pay the difference.

What a great experience at the store. I’ve walked in before just to browse when nobody was in the store and met the manager Abraham. I came in today and the store was packed, yet Abraham remembered me by name. He was attentive, patient, and helped me pick out the perfect pair of sunglasses. I will certainly be back to this location and recommend all my friends and family to come see Abraham, knowing he will take care of them. He also hooked up my old glasses, replaced lenses tighten up the arms. Made them look brand new. He is a genius. Run, don’t walk there you will not be disappointed. There is a large selection of vintage glasses.

Petite Optique provided me with some of the best customer service I’ve ever received anywhere. When I first walked in they were very busy but they greeted me right away and told me to come behind the counter and try on any of the demo frames I wanted so that I wasn’t just sitting around. After going through and picking some options that I liked, they offered me very honest and open opinions and listened very carefully to what my own opinions were and what I was looking for. They were extraordinarily nice, patient, and truly cared about finding me the right set of frames. After making my selection the frames were ready two days later which was so quick I almost didn’t believe it. When I picked up my frames, I wasn’t happy with the way they looked since I have a very high prescription and the magnification of the lenses made them look very big on my face. After a day of being unhappy, I went back in and asked if there was anything they could do for me. They instantly with absolutely no questions asked began having me try on new frames. They custom fitted a pair of frameless glasses and lenses to my exact size, shape, and specifications. These new custom eyeglasses were ready the next day! Once again I couldn’t believe how nice, caring, and understanding everyone there was. They had no obligation whatsoever to do this for me, but they went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and satisfied with my purchase. I love my new glasses and will be wearing them for a long time to come. Thank you Petite Optique for exceeding my expectations and providing me with first-​class service and a great pair of glasses! I will certainly be a loyal customer for a long time.

I’ve been a costumer of Petite Optique for about 10 years now! The first time I walked in, the owner looked at me and said «I have the perfect glasses for you». she put a pair of Theo frames on my face and I looked great. They were perfect! They’ve provided me the best service for my lenses and frames that I’ve ever had. I am a committed customer, very satisfied and I’m sure you will be too! Just came to get my new prescription changed. I cannot say enough about these people. They are dedicated to their customers in a way that is almost unheard of. I had a problem with a pair of my glasses and they went out of their way to contact me to rectify the problem. They were kind, caring, and expert in fitting my glasses, the best customer service ever. In fact, I have edited manuals written by an expert on customer service. These people could be the models of the best of the best.
They also have a remarkable selection of glasses and will not let you leave if you don’t look fantastic. Their doctor gave me the best prescription I’ve had in ten years.
I live in Brooklyn in an area where there’s an optician on every corner, but I will never go anywhere other than Petite Optique.

First rate customer service!
I left a pair of 5 year old designer glasses that I bought from Petite Optique to have a missing small screw replaced. I was called by a very apologetic Lyudmila a day later who informed me that Igor had accidentally broke my frame. Lyudmila invited me in to select a new pair of my choosing with prescription lenses at no cost whatsoever. She even gave me my original glasses that Igor had painstakingly repaired so I could still wear them as a spare. Petite Optique truly cares about their customers!

I’ve been wearing glasses most of my life, and this was hands-​down the easiest frame buying experience I’ve ever had. The staff had a great sense of what style would work for me and made great recommendations. The hardest part was simply choosing between the two I liked most. The entire process of selecting a frame and paying was done in 20 minutes, which is quite a feat for someone of my personality. Plus, the turn-​around on lenses was fast; I ordered on Friday, and picked-​up the glasses on Monday. Of course, as others have noted, Petite Optique isn’t cheap, but you get what you pay for in quality and service.

I got a pair of very very stylish Theo frames from Petite Optique not too long ago which the very courteous, helpful and friendly staff helped me select.
I was a little apprehensive at first, as I wasn’t sure about branching away from the typical frames you get at other stores, but Igor and Luda really worked with me in selecting the perfect unique frames (from the many they have) that compliment my face and personal style. I have to say, it’s refreshing to meet professionals who really try to find the right fit for you and what you want. You can’t beat the customer service.
Will definitely come back to get my next pair soon.

I just bought my 4^th pair of glasses there because I couldn’t decide on just one! Great selection and excellent service. I send everyone there! And I have complete trust in the quality of their lenses. I have NEVER had a problem.

This place has an amazing selection of very cool glasses. They have arty glasses that either have amazing full colors, or no hinges, or something different. Their glasses are not cheap but their customer service is great so you could get a few cheap pairs that you don’t like as much or one pair for the rest of your life. My wife’s super expensive frames started to unravel and when she brought them to Igor, he shipped them back to the factory and had them replaced in a week.
If you want cool glasses, try this place.

The owners of this store are great. They were referred to me by my ophthalmologist because of my sensitivity. They do a great job fitting my progressive bifocals and have a nice selection of frames.

I’ve had a very positive experience here, found the owners at both stores (a husband and wife team) to be very helpful and solicitous. This is not a cheap place, by any means, and if you are looking to get a bargain, don’t go here. They trade in high-​end glasses across the board.
That said, the pair of frames I bought (Paul Smith) were not marked up that heavily over what I’d be able to get directly from the manufacturer. Their lens package was reasonable in comparison to even places like LensCrafters. I looked into buying these frames on the internet, and certainly there were sites that offered them at a considerable markdown, but those sites looked very sketchy to me and quite possibly scams.
I did have the experience mentioned in another review of the owner at the Union Square store saving the model numbers of the frames I wanted in her computer rather than giving them to me, which wasn’t at all the practice I encountered at other shops. But she also handed me the glasses to try on and I looked at the inner temples and took note of what they were. Personally, I feel like you can’t fault owners of glasses stores for trying to combat the practice of using their stores as sample shops and then going off and ordering glasses online.
The bottom line for me was that these people helped me a lot in finding a pair of glasses that I really liked. Each of them took time with me and offered what I thought were honest appraisals and advice. After some shopping around and researching, I found that, on these particular frames, they were offering the best deal on them as well. They were an expensive purchase, no doubt, but I’m happy with them. Glasses are still something I like to buy in person, and this shop has given me great service all around. I highly recommend going to either store.

Before selecting new frames I did a lot of research and visited a number of frame shops. I finally found the frames and service I was looking for when I arrived at Petite Optique. They answered my numerous questions and even called their Oliver Peoples rep on a Sunday to check about the colors available for the frame I wanted. Their pricing was more than fair. they helped me on choosing all the extras I needed without going overboard and paying for options I didn’t need (i.e. the multifocal, laser-​cut lenses were so light I didn’t need the $ 100 more extra light lenses). I was so pleased with everything that I decided to encourage my husband to select a new frame.
This store offers the latest technology in lenses, a great selection of frames, and outstanding customer service… with followup. Couldn’t be happier about the choice I made.

I am on my second pair of glasses from Petite. You will not leave this place unsatisfied. They get five stars for customer service. I had an idea of the type of frame i wanted when i walked in. The owners kindly pointed out that because of the shape of my face and the level of my eyebrows vs. the frames i wanted were not ideal. So, they recommended frames that i had never considered. I was a thousand times more satisfied with what they chose. Very friendly, Very Knowledgable, Highly Recommended.

My wife and I shopped here a year ago and spent some time going through the many fabulous frame designs they have on display. We chose two designs; they were going to be a gift so we didn’t purchase them right away. The two designs were logged against a customer number ready for the day we called to order. Well it took us 9 months to place the order, the frames were still on file when we called the week before Christmas and within three days we had the frames. We returned this Easter holiday weekend (we live in CA) to get a final fitting on one of the frames and to look at what was new and exciting. The service was fantastic, they took the frames right away and re sized them for me, cleaned all the frames I had with me and gave me new cleaning cloths. The people were matter of fact and great to talk to, no BS here, they tell you exactly what they can do for you and when they can get it done. I love stores like this. Many retailers who sell high end designer products will tell you one thing to get you to place the order, you leave, they call and add a week to the delivery. Not here. I would recommend this company and have to my friends, the staff knows their products and they are well connected with their suppliers to get what you want when you want it.
The best place to buy great eye wear in the City as far as I’m concerned.

Very hip selection of frames. An Apple executive recommended this place to me years back, and I keep coming back after looking at a lot of other places only to find they have a great wide-​range selection of really stylish as well as functional frames. They have wild frames, as well as conventional, but all are stylish and good quality.
And they have great ongoing service — if you need the little rubber thing on your nose piece, they will replace it without any charge. Same for the other accessories such as the ear wrap, etc. Each time I go in it seems it is a friendly Russian person behing the counter that is very intent — and honest — about helping you find frames that work for you. The cool thing is, they don’t seem to be clingy and always trying to impose a purchase upon you. They seem to have perfected the unconditional service aspect of the business, which is why I enjoy coming back for more frames. (Other opticians, please take note!)
They have a sister store in the West Village on West 4^th near Washington Place on the corner below Sheridan Square. Again, I was impressed that the woman there was not pushing anything on me but encouraging me to take some time and decide, and she was sincere. I hate the pressure that typical sales people put on you, which is why I like coming to a place where honesty and detachment are the modus operandi.
Definitely add this place to your list of eyewear locations for looking for frames.

I’ve been a regular customer for about eight years. I buy specs from here about every other year. The styles are very chic and modern, little tiny wire works of art.
I’ve found the staff to be incredibly helpful and gracious to me. Last week I randomly entered and tried on about 5 frames, but told them that my favorite pair, which I bought from this store, was lost. (They were really amazing glasses…)
I inquired about replacing this pair exact pair — so they looked me up in their computer and confirmed that I bought my old frames in 2004! (I lost mine in some bar in Boston).
The gentleman replied that he did not think the frames were made anymore, and Petite Optique did not work with the supplier of those frames anymore. That being said, they went ahead and called for me to ask if there was any way to get that model. They called England! «It’s still early in England, we’ll call them later and call you to let you know.»
I didn’t think it was possible to ever see my favorite specs, so I went on my way. A couple of hours later, yay! Seriously YAY! Petite Optique were surprised and happy to tell me my favorite frames in the world are still available, should they order for me?

I have shopped at many top stores in Manhattan and Brooklyn for prescription glasses and sunglasses for over fifteen years.
After years of substandard product and service I was lucky enough to stop by Petite Optique’s West Village store one afternoon.
I was helped personally by one of the owners and was very impressed with both their service and hard to find frame styles.
They really have both the best service and best available styles in the city.
I just bought my 4^th or 5^th pair of glasses there, not because I wore out the old ones, but because they always have something unique and make sure I’m satisfied no matter what.
I have shopped at Petite Optique, now at their Union Square location, for several years now and highly recommend them.
