The manager at this store is blatant in his disregard for the care of the live animals in his care. Especially the birds. I have often shopped here and never found him to be anything but rude and arrogant but did not pay it too much mind until yesterday when I went there shopping for a canary for my daughter. I was stunned when in the bird room to see the way that the parrots are kept– on a low shelf unable to see anything but a door in front of them. Parrots are highly intelligent creatures and these two were clearly in distress and clinging to the top of their cages trying to see anything. I tried to discuss this with Robert who not only could care less but was rude and argumentative. When I asked for details on the canaries for sale– basic questions about live animals– like how old they are, he could not provide me with any details but was frustrated and impatient at having to answer my questions.
There was a young man who had clearly just started working there who was asking me about Parrots and how he could better care for them. This infuriated Robert who told him to get out of the bird room– telling him he is the one the employee is to listen to. I intend to not only boycott this store, but inform all of our community (full of animal lovers) and our community block association of not only the conditions that that birds are kept in but of the managers complete LACK of concern for them. I asked for Robert to give me his supervisors name and he refused. He then gave me a number for Petlands that was incorrect. I always try to shop local but will never shop here again until this manager is replaced and the conditions for live animals are improved.

My wife and I are standing at the counter waiting for help. Two clerks are there arguing playfully over calculating change for someone who left the store a while ago. They do this, ignoring us, for a few minutes. I have to interrupt them and ask for help because we need to buy a fish filter behind the counter. OK, they start helping. Then another customer comes up and says they overcharged him. They stop helping us. He is right, but now the two of them and the store manager are all working on this, painfully slowly, arguing about how to do it. You would think just one of them could ring is up, or maybe they could have done us first but no, we are being ignored again and the seven dollar refund for this guy is taking forever. Now one clerk and the manager are arguing and he is walking away; the other clerk has also walked away. The line is growing. Progress at a halt, we walk out down the street to Petqua.

This place is absurd.
They sold me a goldfish and told me it would do fine in a bowl. My fish died quickly so they had me bring in a water sample, which I did. My PH was low so we solved that. But my second fish is dying all over again. After a little research on line, it seems that goldfish require an aquarium and can’t survive in a bowl!
They lied.
And fish are dying because of their lies.
Just terrible.

Cheaper than other pet supply places around here but poor variety of cat food. If you need supplies for fish or reptiles I guess this is the pace for you

This is an awful petstore. I will start with the pros: greater selection and better prices than other places in the area.
The cons: It isn’t worth shopping here. I ended up paying for the little bit of money I might have saved when I had to shell out for fish medication. As others have mentioned, the fish you buy from this store never live very long, and most of them are infected with parasites, including «ich» which will spread to the rest of your tank and kill your other healthy fish. This really isn’t surprising, for while they have a decent selection of species, the unknowledgeable employees cram large numbers of them into tanks, allow dead fish to sit in the water, and do not provide for species-​specific needs. For example, the black ghost knife is a shy, delicate fish that s sensitive to light and should always have a place to hide and a large amount of space. A good way to kill one of these animals is to put it in a tank with dozens of incompatible species, bright lights, and absolutely no place to hide. In addition, this chain of stores sells «dyed» fish– tetras with neon pink, yellow, or green injected in their bodies with a needle, and «parrotfish» that have been dipped in acid and them dyed blue to achieve a more «marketable» color– that will fade in a few months, if the fish lives long enough for this to happen. Mortality during the initial process is over 50%, and afterwards these animals are more prone to disease and never live very long. I’m no PETA member, but this practice is extremely cruel and I will not be supporting any establishments that practice it.
Don’t buy your fish here: they will not live long enough to be worth your while, and may end up killing the other inhabitants of your tanks.

This is one of the better Petland Discounts I’ve seen in the city, to be honest. There aren’t many people around, and sometimes there’s only one box of the litter I’m looking for, but overall, it’s laid out well, gives enough space to walk around, and, if you know what you’re looking for, you’ll probably be able to leave with it.

Wow such bad reviews! I am not a fish owner, so I cannot review based on the fishes. BUT I did come here a few times for supplies for my dog. The first time the cashier gave me a bit of attitude. But the second time was great. I found what I needed (for a cheaper price than the pet supply store across the street)…and the cashier was so friendly.

I’m a bit relieved to hear that others have had trouble with the fish here, I’ve kept healthy tanks with fish that live for years but I’d say the average life span of fish I get from here about 3 months, its really sad. In addition, 2 out of the 3 times I’ve bought fish from there my tank was contaminated with «ick,» a parasite that lives off the bloodstream underneath the fish’s scales, clearly they are not happy. I feel like should have gotten the $ 10 treatment packets for free. They have a wider selection than petco, but save yourself the stress, consider going elsewhere to buy fish.
Otherwise, they have basic supplies for a wide range of animals. Read basic as in they might carry leashes, collars and purina dog chow, but not quality brands (I use Eaglepack/​Wellness).

The place is average with many good selections. I enjoy going to this place with my cool friend, Feilx, now and then. We bought there many times with simple friendly service. This place is cool to go.

Petco actually has a lot of the same items for a little cheaper, but it’s nice to support a local business once in a while. The tiny store is jam packed with all of the necessary pet supplies, and even has a great selection of Science Diet, which not all stores have. Littermaid products would be better bought online though; they are triple the price here.

The one of the cheapest places for pet supplies in the neighborhood. They also have a decent selection of fish, both fresh and salt water.
