History
Established in 1928.
Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, The Phyllis Lucas Gallery served as a print gallery and publishing house specializing in French etchings. In the early 60s, the gallery worked exclusively with Salvador Dali as the North American publisher of the artist’s limited edition lithographs. Today, the Gallery continues to carry a wide range of antique, modern and contemporary works. Unlike many other galleries, we take the time to walk our clients through the selection and framing of their pieces. We are extremely knowledgeable and experienced in our field, and can provide you with expertise that can’t be found elsewhere. Our passion for antique and contemporary art is evident in our enthusiasm for helping our clients.
Meet the Business Owner
Michael L.
Business Owner
Michael is the son of Sydney and Phyllis Lucas, who started the Gallery over 80 years ago. Sydney Lucas began by contracting with French artists to publish editions of the work. In the mid 60s, his wife Phyllis took over the business, building on the Gallery’s collaboration with Salvador Dali. The Phyllis Lucas Gallery was the first North American publisher of Dali’s lithographs, and published 26 editions of his images. Dali was a frequent visitor to the Gallery and a friend of Phyllis Lucas. Now, Michael has expanded the Gallery’s selection of contemporary paintings and fine art photography. He is committed to continuing the exceptional service that has defined The Phyllis Lucas Gallery for nearly a century.
