Terribly disappointed. I’ve been to other locations which were much better but here’s the skinny: 1.) They still have this crappy grand opening sign in front of whatever awning they took over. I moved around the corner in September, your grand opening has passed and it wasn’t so «grand». 2.) I came in during a storm to grab a quick bite. I changed it up and ordered the fish burger with a side of tabbouleh. This was where things took a turn for the worst. The burger was served on what looked like a Martin’s potato bun(which didn’t taste like it was marinated at all — just bland), and they didn’t include the jalepeño tartar sauce or the pickled onions. 3.) The tabouleh looked and tasted like it was made a week ago and improperly refrigerated. It was the most disgusting tabbouleh I’ve ever had. Tomatoes were wilted into mush, the parsley was so old and soggy, I literally spit it out. 4.) The staff are uninterested, unfriendly, and are terrible in regards to customer service. The woman at the counter was watching YouTube videos on her phone the entire time I was there, and while she was taking my order(hiding her phone so the cameras couldn’t see it). No wonder she botched my order! She didn’t offer me anything or to change my order for them screwing up or for the crap tabbouleh. The line cook seemed so uninterested in working for you guys, he threw a bunch of crap on a roll and served it to me. 5.) Prices are way too high. I get it, rent isn’t cheap, but neither are the ingredients of what you serve! I wouldn’t mind paying ~$ 14 bucks for a fish burger and a small side at a restaurant, especially if it was salmon or some other good type of fish, but for tilapia? Hell to the no! I’d give a zero star rating if I could. If you live in the UES, try Abaleh, Agora, Hummus Kitchen or Beyoglu — and stay as far away from this dump as possible.

Horrible delivery and food is a semi-hit or complete miss. I have been as loyal a customer as I can imagine that this place has and yet they consistently over-promise and under-deliver when it comes to a timely delivery. I live 4 blocks away and somehow it takes 1.5 hours to deliver a salad. Inexcusable. I have placed my last order with all Pita Grills in the city.

I have to say, this is one of the worst places I’ve ordered from EVER… and that is saying a lot as I’m a native New Yorker who really does not use her kitchen. Which means I order food a lot. In the span of 3 days they managed to completely screw up my orders twice. I know it’s my fault for ordering from them a second time after they were over an hour late and sent the wrong food the first time. But I wanted what I wanted and hence tonight, the second time this week, my order was a complete disaster. This time it is worse, because tonight, it’s not just that my food arrived incorrectly. It DIDNOTARRIVEATALL. They just did not send it. I paid for it on seamless and they just did not come;. I got the conformation, got charged for it, and they just never sent the food. When I called to find out where my food was, they just did not answer the phone. Their phone just rang and rang. Then they started to just pick up the phone and hang up. I have no idea what the heck is going on with people that work there and who is managing this establishment. But this is completely unacceptable. So the first thing I did was call and get a refund from seamless, the second thing I did was come to Unilocal and let you all know… PLEASE don’t order from this place. Just a side note, I just had surgery so getting my food delivered is more than a convenience this week. As you can imagine I will never order from Pita Grill again.

The shrimp tacos come with 3 baby shrimps each! I was biting into the tacos and all I was tasting was lettuce tomatoes and avocado! It was ridiculous! Definitely not worth the money.

This place is a complete disaster. Poorly run and managed. As noted by most other reviewers, orders take over an hour and they are rarely correct(pick up or delivery). Today’s order took nearly an hour and forty five minutes after being quoted thirty to forty-five by seamless. We live 3 blocks away. And of course, they screwed up the order again. The chicken gyro tastes like garbage. Look elsewhere.

Have ordered three times from this location. Each time it takes over an hour. I live around the corner. Never again.

I actually think the food here is decent and semi-healthy. However after 10+ orders, I’m done with this place. They get my take-out order wrong EVERYSINGLETIME. I’ve tried going through Seamless, their direct website, and even calling in orders, it makes no difference. They can’t seem to ever get my order right. On my final order, I ordered from their website directly. I asked for an order of Chicken Tacos on white tortillas with a Coke Zero(there was an option allowing you to click both Tortilla type and drink choice) and a Falafel Sandwich with a diet coke and Hummus(again there were options allowing you to choose the Hummus and the diet coke). That’s it, nothing complicated, straight off there menu, no special requests. Over an hour later, my order arrives. Both drinks are missing to both orders, there was no side of Hummus, my tacos were on wheat tortillas not white, and I bit into a chicken taco only to find out it wasn’t chicken, it was Fish! I called, explained I wanted a new order of Tacos with CHICKEN and on white Tortillas, asked for my Hummus that was nowhere to found on my Falafel or on the side and for my Coke Zero and Diet Coke that were missing. The girl that answered could not for the life of her figure out my simple request. She seemed incapable of taking simple instructions down and was so confused, she finally got the manager. After putting me on hold at least 3 times, she did finally tell me they don’t have white tortillas or coke zero, even though both are selections on their menu. After all was said and done, they were supposed to be sending me 2 diet cokes, a side of hummus, and an order of chicken tacos. Another half hour later, a new delivery man arrives, with another Falafel Sandwich and an order of chicken tacos. Still no Diet cokes, still no Hummus. I asked him where my diet cokes were and even pointed out on the receipt he had stapled to my bag that they were missing … He tried calling the restaurant, I can hear the same girl picks up and again, she had no idea what was going on. He then leaves and says he will be back, no one comes back. I’m done with this place. And on a side note, the incorrect order of Fish Tacos that I unknowingly bit into were disgusting, it tasted like the fish was rotten. There’s a Mediterranean restaurant everywhere you look in the UES, don’t waste your time with this one.

Today I gave these guys a third and final chance and they failed with flying colors. This is one of those places where you think it will be fast, but it always takes 7 times longer than you expected. A small crowd of grumpy and bewildered customers all stood in the tiny entryway and discussed why it seemed like there were more workers standing around than making food, which is mediocre at best. My falafel«platter» was essentially a soup bowl of hummus with a falafel balls floating in it, served with cold pita on the side. I was provided a spoon to eat it with. So done with this place.

I ordered 2 pitas from Pita Grill. The chicken pita I ordered was cold and lacked flavor. In addition the price of the chicken pita in relation to its size left me hungry. I am left hungry, and dissatisfied with my first meal from Pita Grill. Luckily I can pass on my experience to others. You’ve been warned!

Very disappointed. Ordered the chicken rice bowl with no yellow raisins… they must have dumped a whole box in there… too many to even pick out! They also forgot the red wine vinagrette dressing which kinda makes the meal. Who the ff eats raisins with chicken and rice anyways? Disgusting!!! I used to be a regular customer here, but not anymore… what a waste of $ 14!

This place is just okay; not great or even good. And we ordered 3 things and it was $ 30! No place in the United States can rival the amount and caliber of Middle Eastern food we have in Detroit. That said, we had walked by this place a million times and were in the mood for a quick, fresh lunch, so we thought we would give it a try. The falafel sandwich(the smallest one) is large enough for a meal. The Sante Fe Panini was just okay. Our food took 20 minutes to arrive at our table. The falafel was the best thing we ordered. That came out hot and it was fairly tasty. The Sante Fe panini was cold, and was missing the cheese that was advertised on it. Unfortunately, we didn’t have another 20 minutes to wait for a replacement. The worst thing that we ordered was the fattoush salad. It took 5 minutes longer than the rest of our food and was absolutely inedible. The pita tossed with the salad was soggy and dripping. So gross. Out of the three things we ordered, if I were to go back, I would only order the falafel. Also, it’s not the cleanest place. It could really use a paint job and a hard scrub — look at the walls and around the baseboards.

Ordered take out from this location. I had the Grilled Chicken platter and my boyfriend had the Lamb Gyro platter with babagounoush. I substituted my vegetables with hummus and chose the Garlic sauce. I have to say, the Garlic sauce is absolutely delicious. If anything, I would come back here over and over just for this. Everything else was okay. the chicken was a bit on the drier side but still decent. If you need relatively cheap and quick Greek(but Americanized) food, I feel this place is a safe bet at the very least.

I’ve never actually been inside this particular location, but I was extremely sad when Pita Grill closed down in Chelsea(then subsequently happy again when Muscle Maker Grill moved in), so I was pleased to discover that this was so close to my job. Every time my colleagues and I order from here, the food comes quickly and served perfectly. My co-worker has fallen head over heels in love with the fish tacos(which I must admit are pretty delicious). I order from here when I’m endeavoring to be healthy, but don’t mind a slight twinge of guilt at getting something that is also really good — i.e. the Goat Cheese Salad: with mesclun, raisins, walnuts and lemon honey vinaigrette, the only thing that could make this better is goat cheese and caramelized onions(which make everything taste better) … which miraculously manifest on pita points and are served with the salad! YUM! Other excellent options include: Anil Gupta’s Tandoori Chicken(pita or platter), Grilled Vegetable Athena, ANY of the rice bowls(they are filling so only order it if you’re really hungry) and, of course, the hummus(the original is good, but the the California is a unique and refreshing take on hummus).

Impressed! The panini I had was very fresh– mozzarella, grilled chicken on a wheat ciabatta. I also sample the eggplant fries and fallafel. All of it was super tasty, and all the ingredients seemed fresh. Id order out from here, or go and dine.

I think I am partly to blame for my poor experience here the other night. I’ve been spoiled by great Mediterranean food in this city. So when I strolled into Pita Grill looking for some falafel and hummus… I came in with some pretty high expectations. Needless to say, Pita Grill severely disappointed. I guess I should’ve figured when I saw that their menu was an interesting Med/Asian/American fusion. If you are going to with all three cuisines, you can’t really expect any of them to come out properly authentic. My falafel and hummus was so bland, I had to spice it up with Cholula sauce. I know what you’re thinking… Cholula sauce with Mediterranean food? It wasn’t a bad combination, but how does this place not have a hot sauce of their own? Every Med place I’ve been to in this city has had a great hot sauce served on the side of every dish. Next, I asked for tahini, and the lady gives me some sort of vinaigrette dressing. Sigh… maybe I was asking for too much. Ok moving on. The pitas weren’t hot, and this whole dish cost me a whopping $ 13. On top of it, the employees were loudly arguing the whole time and B*$%#ing about their delivery guys. Not a pleasant dining experience in the least. I guess I’ll attribute this one star to their free internet café. Since I recently moved and my internet’s not hooked up yet, I considered actually writing this review while at the restaurant on their own computer. My conscience got to me though, and I passed.

This is a delivery only review: My sister is in love with Pita Grill’s grilled chicken platter and Hawaiian chicken… so I wind up ordering something too. As I’m a vegetarian, my options are more limited than the average bear — and as I love falafel, what the heck, I order the falafel. Well, not anymore — the pita is pretty much bagged field greens with a slice of tomato and not even a full patty(Pita Grill’s falafels are hamburger shaped) of falafel. The falafel tastes very«herb-y»; not that falafel taste you may expect. If you do decide to order the falafel, do know it comes with PG’s spicy carrot tahini. Don’t expect tahini flavor — neither from this dressing nor the actual tahini sauce. The tahini is a bit bland except for a bitterness. Having tried the spring rolls, they’re okay — very noodle-y: the spring roll is wrapped in a noodle and filled with vermicelli noodles, and a few shredded carrots and greens, one of which is definitely cilantro. The rolls came with a Thai dressing which I wish was a peanut sauce or the Szechuan sauce that comes with steamed dumplings from my favorite Chinese restaurant. Oh, and at the demand of my sister, I have to write that PG’s apple crisp is amazing(I’ve paraphrased… those weren’t her actual words)!

Used to order take out here perpetually from 2001 – 2004. A cheap and somewhat healthy mid-week alternative. You can control your fat and carb intake here by getting a grilled chicken pita or a fresh(cheap) salad. Best to take out though. It’s like eating in a bowling alley.
