Planet Fitness – Bronx – Grand Concourse

Love the people who work here. This planet fitness is not very large, but it has what you need. What makes me always want to come back to it is the great people that work here! They are all very nice and attentive to your needs!

A gym membership is an investment in yourself so no matter where you choose to go the experience will be what you make it. Having been an Equinox member in the past I can honestly say that even without all the bells & whistles they offer in comparison to Planet Fitness, after just joining PF in late February, the results I’ve experienced toward my fitness goals have been massive in comparison to Equinox. I’ve taken full advantage of PF’s convenience in order to get it in no matter what! So 24 hours and walking distance to my apartment = No excuses only results!
I was impressed the moment I walked in. Brand spanking new and always clean facilities and machines. Fresh flowers in the ladies locker room. And even though it looks small upstairs the downstairs is huge. Professional and attentive staff. Top of the line equipment. I don’t go to the gym to socialize so classes are rarely my thing but everyone around me appears to be motivated and civilized and that energy you can only get at the gym when others around you are also in their own personal Beast Modes definitely will inspire you.
The only cons would be no kettlebells and unfortunately the downstairs area though massive seems to warm up quicker than the first floor so those machines will be scooped up faster at peak times like after work and weekends. Also, the machines directly under the lights they use will heat you up.
But you just can’t beat a 24 hour gym that only costs $ 10 a month?! So if you have Planet Fitness in your neighborhood pass up the pricey gym memberships and give them a try. The rest will be up to you.

Gym really needs to step it up equipment wise! Just had weight loss surgery and was looking forward to working out with good equipment and was disappointed … They don’t even have room to lay out mats and if there is room it’s in tight spots usually too close to other machinery.
Also, they need to invest in bar pads (the foam piece that goes directly behind your neck on the bar with weights) Squatting without those is the world’s most uncomfortable thing and it becomes soar for days!

This is a direct comparison to the Planet Fitness on Kingsbridge and in New Rochelle. Let me start with the staff. Like most PF locations, the staff greeted me with a smile. This location is broken up into three floors: lockers at the top, some cardio and 30 min fitness select on the main floor and more cardio and weights on the lower level. The equipment is standard PF stuff. Most of the bikes were broken. The free weight section was a mess. I had to search high and low for some 17.5 dumb bells.
I workout at 5AM when the gym is usually dead, but this one had a few people. As I finished my workout more people started to arrive, mostly men.
The locker room showers were disgusting! Most of the full lockers were taken, which is kinda hard to believe since it wasn’t that crowded.

Great price, friendly staff but dirty on Sunday mornings. Rest of week is very clean. They need water fountains on the other floors. Is never packed when I go.

This Planet Fitness is located conveniently on the Grand Concourse near the D subway line.
Pros:
— Despite looking rather small from the outside this is actually a large facility. Locker rooms & bathrooms are located upstairs. On the ground floor you have cardio equipment like treadmills, ellipticals, etc. along with TVs. Free weights, bikes, and more treadmills are located downstairs.
— All the treadmills have a charging station for your iPod/​iPhone 4/​4S.
— The staff is extremely friendly & helpful.
— This facility is not extremely packed during peak after work hours (5PM and later) during the week.
Cons:
— No classes are available as in every other Planet Fitness. On the other hand, you’re paying a great price to be able to use this facility’s equipment.
I recommend this Planet Fitness location much more when compared to other locations I’ve been to.

1. Convenient Location. The Fordham location is around the corner, too.
2. Friendly staff.
3. Clean Facility. They have what seems like alcohol and paper towel located around the gym and people actually make an effort to wipe the machines after use.
4. Lots of new machines.
5. They give you a very specific time table — like how many people exactly — are at the gym at a certain time, so you know the best time to come.
6. I bought the black card membership; you really can’t beat the price. And I can bring a guest for free any time!
7. I also got a free shirt. Woot!
