I’ve been going here for 8 years and consistent service every time! They’re prices are very good compared to other midtown cleaners that I’ve gone to.

Used them for several years. After losing numerous articles of clothing (and always claiming that they had not), they finally destroyed an expensive pair of suit pants by machine washing them. Enough. Dry cleaners are a dime a dozen in Manhattan.

Avoid Polaris Cleaners if you expect quality alterations or customer service.
I never write reviews but am compelled to after an incident here. I work nearby and brought a brand new silk dress for alteration ahead of a wedding. Ms. Lee, the only person who does alterations, took it in in two places and did hand-​stitched hemming at the bottom for $ 75. I wore the dress to the wedding and had it dry cleaned near my apartment. Then when I took the dress out to wear to a second wedding about 2 months later I saw the hem had fallen out — not just a little bit but completely. I’ve never had a dry cleaned dress hem or pants hem come out completely after 1 dry clean (the whole point of drycleaning is to protect delicate fabrics and stitching) which indicated to me the work Polaris did was not done properly. I stopped by Polaris and asked if they would repair the hem. The guy looked me up in the system and found the dress and said they would talk to Ms. Lee and call me the following day with an answer. When they called they said they would split the cost with me since it had been over 30 days and they do not do repairs after this window. I thought that was unfair given it was a formal dress and not a button down shirt or pants I would wear more regularly. I then went in person later that day and spoke to Ms. Lee directly. I showed her the dress and requested she repair the hem. Ms. Lee then DENIED ever working on the dress and just walked away. I couldn’t believe it especially since it was a big job. I asked to speak to the owner, Pad Chang, and was told to call tomorrow morning, he wasn’t there. You can guess what happens next: I called the following morning, Pad Chang wasn’t there and I was told to call back the next morning which I did and again he was not available. I told them I needed to speak to him urgently to remedy a customer service issue and that I needed his number asap, but they would not get me in touch with him nor had he called me back.
Not only was the work done by the alteration lady, Ms. Lee, of poor quality, but Polaris’ management does not care about their customer satisfaction at all. It’s clear to me their stance is with so much business in mid-​town/​Park Avenue, there is no need to retain customers, address complaints or rectify issues. They have no pride for their work or their relationship with customers. They simply do not deserve our business.

This place was great. eco dry cleaners. though they insist that their process is the same my clothes return (third time including a redo of several item that I paid to redo) come back recking of chemical and with the stiff feeling that the chemical dryclenaers leaves on clothes.
also my body doesn’t respond well to the chemicals so BO becomes out of control …
don’t go here instead try the laundry stork so far so good …

I rarely write reviews but I’ve been so disappointed by Polaris Cleaners that I feel compelled to warn others. They charge $ 2 a shirt which is by cheap by Manhattan standards. For this price you expect clean clothes and mediocre pressing.
Polaris however has managed to ruin 3 of my shirts in short order. When they press the shirts, the apply a ton of pressure to the top button – so much so that the buttonhole has ripped on 3 shirts. They have also managed to stain the collars of two shirts during the same cleaning.
They also starch shirts despite my requesting no starch but if this is the worst that happens to your clothes consider yourself lucky.
It’s tough to find a good dry cleaner in Manhattan but I can assure you that you will not find worse than Polaris.

DO NOT use them. They are the worst. They lose your stuff and/​or delivery it to the wrong address and say its not their fault. STAY AWAY!!!

Never going back. Took a skirt with lining to be shortened once and it cost $ 18. The next time, I took a skirt WITHOUT lining to be shortened, and it cost $ 35! My mistake for not looking at the receipt after dropping off the skirt. When I went to pick it up, I questioned the high charge, but had no recourse because they’d already made the alteration. WARNING — if you insist on using Polaris for alterations, double check your bill…

AWFUL. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.
Let me start out by saying that I have used them for 4 years and have spend thousands of dollars on them. I paid a premium to use them ($ 1/​pound vs the 75cents/​pound everywhere else) because it was an organic cleaner and they are across the street from me.
Occasionally I would have bleach stains on my nice shirts, a missing button, and lost socks now and then. I was always too busy to complain/​lazy to find a new place. I figured it was an accident and gave them a another try. Boy was I wrong and I had to learn the hard way as the other nice people writing reviews here had to as well.
Unfortunately, over the past couple of months I started getting other’s people’s clothes in addition to mine. I thought it was weird, but it was always only an extra 1 – 2 pieces of clothes so I would just return it and think nothing of it. (I would send out ~40 pounds of laundry a time).
Last week I get my laundry and there is a good 10 pounds of laundry missing and it is replaced with someone’s ratty clothing. I thought this would be an easy fix, so I brought in a trash bag full of the other person’s clothes and mentioned that I didn’t receive mine. I was told to wait a week as they suspected someone else would return my nice clothes. After a week I was told to come in and fill out a claim form. I try to do this Saturday, my day off, and what am I told? «You can not fill out a claim form. You must just wait. We don’t know that you really lost your clothes. You just want to take our money.» Seriously? Unacceptable. Not only did they refuse to compensate me for my lost laundry (esp after I bring in a bagful of someone’s laundry that they shoved into my laundry bag with my name on it) but I am just told to go away.
The best part is they tried to pretend that they didn’t understand English, so I talked to them in Spanish and I was told in Spanish that there was nothing they could do. Ridiculous.
I am finally going to listen to Unilocal and try Campion Cleaners (I think they are actually Champion Cleaners). I am sure they are going to appreciate my extra $ 200 a month.
Please do not make my mistake! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. Unless you really enjoy only being able to wear your clothes once or your clothes are so bad that whoever gets them will for sure want to return them for their clothes.

If you are in a pinch and looking for quick turn around this is NOT the place. I spilled something on a blazer which I needed for a dinner the same night and at noon they said there was no way they could get it cleaned, even just spot cleaned for me before the next day.
They do not have one hour service. you can potentially get same day service if you bring in your item before 10am and they do not already have too much.

My review is specifically for the alteration services here. Ok, guys– if you are hemming the length of the pants, then this place is pretty safe. They hemmed it the length I always request and had it to me on time. Now, I can’t give them too much credit. Most of my service requests are pretty simple.
BUT, DO NOT– and I repeat, DO NOT bring a dress or any complex article of clothing to this place. Ladies, if you are thinking about bringing in a bridesmaids dress, please think twice. Not only is this place overpriced, I paid $ 95 for a simple hemming of the length and a little bit taken off the sides. When I tried it on after the tailor’s first attempt, I noticed that it was still quite large. It made me look quite matronly and I am a very petite female (4’11″, 97 lbs). After I expressed my lack of satisfaction, she refused to take it in more. She said it would look bad if she took it in even more and basically would not service me. So I left.
After that, I questioned myself and thought maybe the dress was fine. But when I went home, my sister told me I looked pregnant. Great. I begrudgingly took it to another tailor (this business was specifically tailoring and had several years of experience in suit and dress tailoring) in Union Square where I paid $ 75! He took it in 1 inch per side, shortened the length and took off some length in the straps. Same tasks as Polaris, $ 25 cheaper and better service. Unbelievable.

Polaris Cleaners has been our dry cleaner for four years. We have spent thousands of dollars here. The counter staff knows us and are pleasant. The owner has a very bad attitude about customer service:
— They denied losing my favorite shirt (a pink striped number from Charles Tyrwhitt). No compensation for it.
— They don’t spot check anything. Broken buttons and missed stains are routine.
— Their process does not remove perspiration smells. Even after we mentioned a smelly armpit on two dresses, the re-​clean had no better affect (and we’re not particularly smelly people).
— They lost a belt from the dress we described as smelly.
Despite the fact that this business is within spitting distance of our home, Polaris has used up its nine lives and is now offficially dead to us. Anyone have a suggestion for our next cleaner?

I use Polaris Cleaners from time to time. Specially, if I forgot to dry clean something and I want to wear it later for dinner/​drinks.
Prices are standard and they really do a great job cleaning! Whenever I need something in a rush, they usually accomodate me.

Running a dry cleaners in Manhattan is no easy chore. Everyone is in a rush, deliveries are expected to be made at lightning speed, garments are unfairly scrutinized for imperfections that were often present prior to drop-​off, tailors are pushed to their limits with changing preferences and alterations. But Polaris Cleaners totally gets it, and it shows in their service. Are they a bit expensive compared to other dry cleaners in the area? Sure. But they really, really know what they’re doing and this, in my opinion, is worth the extra money. They have never lost anything of mine, stains (whether I point them out or not) are always addressed, garments are professionally pressed, the service is really fast and friendly — it’s just an extremely professional operation and I’m genuinely happy I found them

I had a decent experience so far. only used them once but I live nearby so they’re pretty convenient. (Used them for wash & fold not drycleaning so far). The only thing that seems to be lacking is that they aren’t open late at night. My wash& fold place in my old neighborhood was a laundromat as well so they were open until 10 or 11 or something. Much more convenient for someone who works long hours.

High prices? Lost laundry bag? Missed deliveries? No thank you.
Given the competition for your laundry and dry cleaning dollar, and the generally great service extended by most laundry/​dry cleaners, there is absolutely no reason to patronize Polaris. Terrible experience.

Since I am here on a combined vacation biz trip I had some laundry to do. Instead of having my hotel do it for 3x the cost, I sought fellow Unilocalers to hook a brutha up. I was on my way to Murray Hill Dry Cleaner & Laundry down the way and ran into Polaris first. Since it was raining like a Mutha F**er I dropped off my sh*t here to get laundered.
Great service and got my clothes plus one shirt that was pressed by 3pm for only $ 12.00. Ok, maybe it could be cheaper doing it yourself and it was only three days worth of clothes, but hey, if you haven’t ever had your laundry done for you, do it at least once, or maybe twice. It’s so cool and all you have to do it put your clothes away versus having to wash em then dry em. Also depends on yer pocket book too.
Since I am here for a coupla more days, I might just take more clothes to have done :)
